Given, that one call should not be what decides this game. We should have won without it.But still. Pisses me off.

Well well. FREE THROWS and Cat Barber choking at the end of the game....then again Lacey was Ofer on free throws. If it wasn't for this kinda crap we would be 7-0 and not one game in single digits yet.
12/2/2014 11:12:00 PM
yea nevermind, i don' t think espn guy knew either.[Edited on December 2, 2014 at 11:14 PM. Reason : bad call regardless]

definitely could have won this one, but i'm not TOO upset with our team's performance. they faced a tough team on the road (and some bogus officiating) and kept pushing back. considering none of these guys played for our team two years ago, they're gonna take their lumps from time to time this year. could have been much worse, but hitting some free throws and being a little better on loose balls/boards would have probably been good enough to win.
12/2/2014 11:13:36 PM
there is no "reestablishing" yourself inbounds. if you go out of bounds by your own volition, you cannot be the next person to touch the ball, period.[Edited on December 2, 2014 at 11:14 PM. Reason : .]
12/2/2014 11:14:00 PM
Has theee ever been a team with no good foul shooter? Even unc has paige. This shit is inexcusable. We should just forfeit if its wothin 7 in the last 2 minutes.
12/2/2014 11:14:13 PM
Also, looked like he went out of bounds because he got bumped. In football if you are pushed out of bounds it doesn't counts, wonder if it is the same?
12/2/2014 11:14:27 PM
Took a while for the NC state shit to get started....i was beginning to worry.
12/2/2014 11:14:46 PM
I have never seen that rule called before. Always heard the "reestablish yourself inbounds" rule. Maybe that's the right call, by the book. But what a fine time to dust off that little used rule.
12/2/2014 11:14:49 PM
it was absolutely the correct call
12/2/2014 11:16:23 PM
https://twitter.com/franfraschilla/status/539995407695507456I'm not looking it up, but there you go... sources and what not. Still a horseshit call given that we run that exact play 3-4 times a game since gott has been here and it has never been called once.

have at it:http://www.ncaapublications.com/productdownloads/BR15.pdfSection 4. Player Out of BoundsArt. 1. A player who steps out of bounds under his own volition and then becomesthe first player to touch the ball after returning to the playing court has committeda violation.a. A violation has not been committed when a player, who steps out ofbounds as permitted by Rule 7-4.6.b, does not receive the pass along theend line from a teammate and is the first to touch the ball after his returnto the playing court.[Edited on December 2, 2014 at 11:20 PM. Rule 9-4.1Here, i did all the work for you:
12/2/2014 11:18:34 PM
According to pack pride, our last made ft was with 19:17 to go in the 2nd half by bj. Hahahaha wtf
12/2/2014 11:19:24 PM
I thought Gott should have taken a time out the last minute of the game but he let the team who's been playing like idiots try and win the game on their own. Good test on the road, time for the team to regroup and damn need to hit the free throws when the game is on the line. Its like its contagious, the first NC State player miss and then everyone starts following.
12/2/2014 11:19:34 PM
Scott Wood made a career out of doing that and got called for a violation 0 out of 1000+ times, I call bullshit
12/2/2014 11:19:37 PM
12/2/2014 11:19:41 PM
https://twitter.com/franfraschilla/status/539993808189272065this is what i was referring to. it's a bullshit call because 1) it's never made out the blue at the end of a game like that and 2) what turner did wasnt a blatant violation although it's pushing the rule a lotiirc scott got called for it a couple times when we ran that play but it was usually early in a game

12/2/2014 11:22:40 PM
Look, Washington set a pick and he stepped out of bounds on his own to get around the screen. No one forced him out
12/2/2014 11:24:08 PM
Cat Barber is creeping into junior year CJ Leslie territory for me in terms of being frustrating as hell to watch at virtually all points of the game where he's on the floor. The rebounding I get to an extent, they had a huge size advantage down low. The FT's were absolutely terrible though - again.[Edited on December 2, 2014 at 11:24 PM. Reason : shit]
12/2/2014 11:24:11 PM
Purdue's Offensive rebounding was the story of the game. They had 7 more shots and 3 more FT attempts than we did. Some bad luck rebounds, but also going against 2 7-footers was rough.
12/2/2014 11:24:15 PM
Yeah the most frustrating thing was the fluky long rebounds. The 7 footers are gonna get the easy boards. But they had long rebounds going right to the guards. Please beat Wake
12/2/2014 11:25:27 PM
People run the baseline all the time . That was a blatantly blown call by the official. Worst call I'veever seen he will get reprimanded if not outright suspended
12/2/2014 11:27:00 PM
I'm suprised Haas didn't play more. I was terrified of him dominating every time he was on the floor and BJ was clearly intimidated by him as well... Hammons not nearly as much.
12/2/2014 11:28:07 PM

It's not talking about a loose ball situation.it's talking about a player that goes out of bounds. Every word of that 1 rule has been posted here. There is no ambiguity.
12/2/2014 11:36:22 PM
it says first player to touch the ball after returning. he was not the first player to touch the ball after returning. our guy had the ball the whole time.
12/2/2014 11:37:33 PM
no
12/2/2014 11:39:24 PM
all that other shit aside, I'm not too terribly disappointed. We played a good team on the road, close; we could have been blown out several times, but we fought back. It sucks to lose, but we played well, and I think we will learn a lot from this.
12/2/2014 11:40:31 PM
to quote the legendary Bob Ryan, "it may be a rule, but that wasn't the spirit of the rule"been watching basketball my whole life and never recall actually seeing it called. totally get why it's a rule, though. with that said, it had nothing to do with the outcome. shot ourselves in the foot waaaaay too many times.[Edited on December 2, 2014 at 11:44 PM. Reason : really, really hope Cat has a big game against Wake. afraid he may be entering a prolonged slump. ]
12/2/2014 11:41:42 PM
12/2/2014 11:45:26 PM
slump? cat was never anything better than average. I don't understand how people just blew off the lewis transfer. he was the only thing that ever made us resemble a fluid offense. we are just a collection of guys looking for buckets. its been effective so far but it is what it is.
12/2/2014 11:50:56 PM
lewis couldnt run an offense either. he was more suited for last years team because he just threw the ball to warren whereas cat pounds the ball for 15 seconds before realizing he sucks and cant do anything.i guess this years team would be better off if cat had left because lewis would be eating bench right now with lacey playing the 1 but he certainly wouldnt make us a better team while on the court
12/3/2014 12:01:42 AM
lewis could create and make nice passes that no one on this team can make.
12/3/2014 12:05:12 AM
I really want to see us run a lot more of the Lacey, Turner, Caleb Martin backcourt that we saw a little bit of tonight. Cat either lays the ball in, pulls up for a short jumper or gets fouled and misses his FT's. After the first game this year I thought his jumper might have improved, every game since then its looked just like last year.
12/3/2014 12:08:57 AM
At least we don't have to worry about him leaving early for the draft, amirite?
12/3/2014 12:13:09 AM
having a pg who sucks at free throws, especially in late game situations, can be an absolute killerLacey is going to have to bail us out of so many games
12/3/2014 12:16:59 AM
lacey sucks at free throws too though
12/3/2014 12:25:24 AM
If we keep missing FTs in clutch scenarios we won't be going far in March
