So Davidson?
3/29/2014 11:40:16 PM
lol at burro calling out other people for ragging on players
3/29/2014 11:40:37 PM
i dont see that splitting time with cat is the reason he is leaving. splitting time with cat is the best thing for him, it is obvious that he cant play a full 40 minutes a game. i hope he does well, just want to know what the real reason is for him leaving.is he really going to end up at davidson?
3/29/2014 11:40:55 PM
of course he's not going to Davidson
3/29/2014 11:42:08 PM
How about he transfers to Arizona State and lights us up in the S16 in a couple years lullzz
3/29/2014 11:45:25 PM
there's an opening at PG if he's patienthe'd be a perfect fit in Herb's system. but there's a thread for those types of discussions
3/29/2014 11:49:18 PM
don't you need to be able to shoot to play for herb?
3/30/2014 12:09:53 AM
it depends. would he be more of a Derek Glasser or an Antwi Atuahene type of player?haha am I right?
3/30/2014 12:19:20 AM
prolly going to Kentucky, then Georgia State[Edited on March 30, 2014 at 12:20 AM. Reason : .]
3/30/2014 12:19:49 AM
Best of Luck Lewis wherever you head to, you were a baller. If history repeats Lewis be our Next Russel Wilson. His playing time gets cut, everyone shits on him due to his physical limitations, and everyone seems to overlook his amazing BB skills and IQ.
3/30/2014 12:34:56 AM
3/30/2014 12:39:25 AM
needs to borrow one from Phillip Rivers
3/30/2014 12:46:19 AM
If App State will let him go Devonte Graham could be an option at backup PG.He committed to Capel then wanted to back out. Capel said no so Graham spent a year at prep school, I believe.
3/30/2014 1:07:45 AM
Best of luck to Lewis. Hope he does well at whatever school he ends up at. Don't understand why he feels like he needs to transfer though. There will be minutes for both him and Cat next year.
3/30/2014 1:26:10 AM
This shit is getting real tired
3/30/2014 1:34:19 AM
yeah this shit makes our program look bad. Gott had a lot of players transfer out at Bama too.
3/30/2014 1:42:39 AM
I don't think this makes the program look bad, I think Lewis is just doing what he feels is right for his bball careerDo UNC and Indiana look bad when guys transfer? It happens.
3/30/2014 1:56:55 AM
Actually got into a discussion about this earlier tonight when I heard the news.for every transfer that Gottfried has had, he has had one transfer TO state. Turner, Lacey----Purvis, Lewis.I get the feeling that he recruits them thinking they are really good players and promises them starting time and when they dont pan out or dont live up to the hype, he starts looking at freshmen.its an issue...but he has had many transfers into State that will certainly help or have already.
3/30/2014 3:06:45 AM
3/30/2014 3:26:20 AM
I guess he knew he was destined to be a rotation player, but damn if we couldnt trick him into staying by having him start most of the year.To be a good program, we need to be able to bring guys like this off the bench.
3/30/2014 3:40:01 AM
^^ Lacy can play point but he isn't one. This sucks. Lewis is EXACTLY what a still young team needed. Such a calming influence. So three McDonalds AAs from that class and none will play a third season. Does this happen anywhere else (To be fair, Warren going is a great thing for our exposure though).
3/30/2014 6:38:19 AM
I mean, Gott recruited over him...twice.
3/30/2014 7:06:40 AM
We were a mediocre team before he came, while he was here, and will remain one after he leaves. Big fucking deal.
3/30/2014 7:19:15 AM
I guess my question is what changed? He knew Cat and Lacy would be here last summer. Why not transfer then and have three years somewhere else?I'm not a huge fan of overselling a role by a coach but I suspect that is what Gott does. To be fair to Gott though, these transfers will only matter if he stops making tournaments.[Edited on March 30, 2014 at 7:42 AM. Reason : lewis is what he is]
3/30/2014 7:41:23 AM
IIRC Lacey was playing point at Alabama and one of the reasons that he transferred here was so that he could play off the ball moreLewis knows that Cat is going to progress even more into next season and his minutes were going to severely diminish...I also think he is a little overwhelmed at this level. Maybe he wants to transfer to a smaller school/conference where he would be more successful like a Davidson or UNC-W/G/C or whateverI really think that we get Graham...App St would seriously burn some bridges with the AAU/HS coaches over that one if they were to hold him from us[Edited on March 30, 2014 at 8:02 AM. Reason : .]
3/30/2014 7:59:39 AM
3/30/2014 8:49:16 AM
3/30/2014 9:18:36 AM
^^ nope. We were projected to be bad this year and made the tournament. We'll be better next year, and still make the tournament
3/30/2014 9:34:35 AM
3/30/2014 9:43:06 AM
^^ not at all getting on Gott but you're crazy if you think we are going to be BETTER next year unless you have inside info on TJW. I just don't see it... Our class is OK, but not super compared to the upper third of the ACC..
3/30/2014 9:46:18 AM
I'm not going to get on Gott for Lewis. He was Lowe's recruit. The only move that I can get on his case for is Purvis. That one never made sense. If he didn't fit the team then don't recruit him.
3/30/2014 10:54:11 AM
Meh, I like Lewis enough, but he's replaceable. After the bed shitting at the St Louis game, I don't see him ever getting any better. He's probably a better fit at a smaller program, and could light things up at Davidson or UNCG.
3/30/2014 11:06:42 AM
people are bat shit crazy if they think we lost to STL because of Tyler Lewissure, he had 4 turnovers in the 2nd half plus overtime, but in reviewing the play-by-play, those turnovers led to a whopping TWO pointsplus, he scored 40% of our points in overtimeplus, he was perfect at the FT line. the rest of the team was 51%http://espn.go.com/ncb/playbyplay?gameId=400546949[Edited on March 30, 2014 at 11:18 AM. Reason : m]
3/30/2014 11:17:02 AM
And most importantly, he was tired...
3/30/2014 11:22:06 AM
3/30/2014 11:37:58 AM
Michael gbinije left duke in 2012. Alex Murphy left duke in 2013. OMG what's wrong with K.People who are pretty good basketball players don't like sitting on the bench, whatever
3/30/2014 12:00:20 PM
Again, there is a difference between those guys, who barely played and guys like Lewis\Purvis who got big minutes.I actually don't think its a huge problem but the distinction has to be made..
3/30/2014 12:03:41 PM
David Wear, Travis Wear, and Larry Drew II, all McDonald's All-Americans transferred in a span of 9 monthsis Roy credible?
3/30/2014 12:19:34 PM
3/30/2014 12:21:56 PM
the guys you are saying left unc and duke were guys who were never going to see the floor. we are having key starters transfer. not even role starters but guys were are building our team around transferring. lewis was our Paige if you remember the recruiting process. We all thought Lewis was the better of the two.
3/30/2014 12:37:46 PM
You're confusing that with Marshall and Harrow.
3/30/2014 12:39:32 PM
Lol which was an even more embarrassing comparison. I'd take Lewis over Harrow every day of the week.
3/30/2014 12:47:15 PM
This is a BAD lost for our program, especially with the uncertainty of TJ's plans. A PG in basketball is like a quarterback in football. You can have a lot of star players but if your PG sucks then your offense sucks. Lewis is a battled tested PG and it would of been great if him and Barber could split the playing time this upcoming season, but its easy for me to say. I personally think Barber would be a terrific shooing guard.
3/30/2014 12:49:11 PM
why is everyone on lewis' jock now? he was a defensive liability and very limited scorer who faded at the end of games. sure it sucks to have him transfer, but you gotta weed out the scrubs. i was never really impressed with any of our transfers out including purvis.
3/30/2014 1:05:10 PM
Wow, just saw this now! lol
3/30/2014 1:13:22 PM
Good riddance. Kid just isn't an acc caliber pg. I think we all recognized that after the mcDonalds game
3/30/2014 1:13:34 PM
If that's the case, why did we offer him a scholly?[Edited on March 30, 2014 at 1:16 PM. Reason : Or honor it, after Gott was hired]
3/30/2014 1:16:08 PM
3/30/2014 1:23:31 PM
@laxman490: No dude, its called being a fan of State and caring about the future of the program. I've been a fan of Tyler since the Miami home game in 2013, check my posts if you have nothing else to do. Defensive liability? Did you even watch the games this year? Yeah, he had some lapses but the team as a whole sucked donkey balls on defense, why is he the only one getting pegged for it? The funny thing is he was the main orchestrator when we were running zone as the team seem to have no idea what they were doing which is bad coaching. Im very concerned b/c if TJ leaves then our best recruiting class in years is GONE within 2 years which i personally see something wrong with. @ginga: I thought it was well known that he grew up a Carolina fan. Can't really blame himsince State hasn't done much in the sport for a couple of decades.[Edited on March 30, 2014 at 1:26 PM. Reason : ...]
