so we are penalizing Lebron for not playing college when he was league ready, I repeat LEAGUE READY, coming out of high school?
7/7/2013 1:05:49 PM
nope, just comparing apples to apples, or rather games played to games played
7/7/2013 1:09:19 PM
Not league ready, just MONEY DRIVEN
7/7/2013 1:27:37 PM
I would say age is an appropriate comparison
7/7/2013 1:33:43 PM
maybe for titles and awardsbut definitely not for stats when Kobe played an extra 2.5 seasons and Lebron an extra 2 seasons worth of games
7/7/2013 1:36:05 PM
7/7/2013 1:48:12 PM
Either way jordan will have less games played because he played baseball.
7/7/2013 6:16:08 PM
can we make a Summer League thread?if not, I want to say that Michael Carter-Williams is going to win ROY[Edited on July 7, 2013 at 10:38 PM. Reason : ^ Jordan played baseball when he was 30]
7/7/2013 10:37:33 PM
Thats my point. So even if you say wait a few years past 28 then Jordan loses more years to baseball before he regains the 18-21 college years. Jordan's career will undoubtedly be shorter and its safe to say that if Lebron continues to play and doesn't make a similar move or just break down his body, Jordan's legacy will forever be tarnished by wasting all of those years.
7/7/2013 10:41:49 PM
Tony Parker had 3 rings and 1 NBA Finals MVP at age TWENTY FIVE]
7/7/2013 10:47:47 PM
^^ all what years? his 3 years in college or his 1.5 year in baseball?^ you've been making entirely too much sense lately[Edited on July 7, 2013 at 10:49 PM. Reason : d]
7/7/2013 10:48:25 PM
4.5 years is lot of basketball. Especially 1 years in your prime.
7/7/2013 10:49:11 PM
7/7/2013 10:52:58 PM
A more important reason is he needed time to recover from losing his father.Kobe actually had three rings when he was TWENTY-THREE!!![Edited on July 7, 2013 at 11:31 PM. Reason : We need to compare the whole career.]

In terms of the Jordan-LBJ debate, all I want to say is that Lebron is as good of a defender, if not better than Jordan. tke dude made it out like Jordan was head and shoulders above LBJ defensively which is just plain stupid. Also I'd like to point out that Lebron actually rebounds and passes, which Jordan never did well and LBJ is a good 3 pt shooter (even with the extended three point arc) and Jordan was a mediocre 3 pt shooter at best.
7/8/2013 8:39:15 AM
Lebron attempted more threes in his first 5.5 seasons than Jordan attempted in his entire 15 year career
7/8/2013 10:24:05 AM
^ and your point is?
7/8/2013 10:34:23 AM
just going back to the stats graphic on the previous page. there's a reason LBJ has made more 3's than Jordanand there isn't a huge gap between their 3P%. Jordan .327 and LBJ .337

He had a pretty big gambling problem. In fact, it was probably so big that some unpaid debts got his dad killed. However, I don't think Stern gave a shit, considering half of his referees were fixing games.
7/8/2013 11:10:35 AM
the NBA was such a mess in the early 90s
7/8/2013 11:11:55 AM
i do, but then again, i think the NBA is basically like WWE with a ball.
7/8/2013 11:12:29 AM

^^[Edited on July 8, 2013 at 11:42 AM. Reason : Actually it's better. B/c WWE players are not big motherfuckers taller than 6'8]

He hasnt recovered from playing all last season on plantar fascitis. Very debilitating. He sucked this year why would anyone want him right now at his current contract? Lbj is clearly superior to Jordan at the peak of his career there is no argument. Kobe isnt even in the discussion. Now just have to see if LeBron wins the longevity debate too
7/8/2013 11:44:11 AM
At the peak he's better than Jordan?? Why? I don't think so.
7/8/2013 11:59:01 AM
shoot, face already declared that there isnt an argument, just drop it, He has spoken
7/8/2013 12:17:32 PM
the west is getting incredibly loaded again like it was a few years ago even without the lakers, SA, GS, clips, rockets, OKC could all make the finals (although OKC confuses me, they confused me a little bit even when they had harden because they had three guys scoring like every point and now that they don't have harden or martin and still have no offensive role players at all I don't know)
7/8/2013 1:42:26 PM
Explain to me how Jordan is somehow superior to James defensively? Yes Jordan got a lot of steals, but LBJ guards all 5 positions and still generates high steal and block rates for his size. Also Jordan and LBJ have similar 3 pt % at this point only because LBJ was woeful his first couple years. He's now a 40% shooter and shooting at a much deeper range than Jordan ever had to.
7/8/2013 2:20:54 PM
why are we still debating this? Kareem Abdul Jabbar was better than both
7/8/2013 4:23:45 PM
Jordan might not have been able to guard a power forward or center (though Lebron can't exactly handle Howard or Hibbert 1-on-1 himself), but he could absolutely lock down any 1, 2 or 3. I know he hasn't played in 10 years, and 10 years ago he was "Wizards Jordan", but if "Bulls Jordan" didn't want somebody to score, they weren't gonna score]
7/8/2013 4:27:07 PM
we can talk about this until we are blue in the face. Mike and Lebron not only played two different positions (a given) but their games/the way they played are like night and day. Oil and water. they even played defense different imo. Mike always shot the rock more often than not. he was a amazing shooter. Lebron is more of scorer and set a man up player. It amazes me that lebron is in talks for the league leading scorers about every year. I think he won it one year. I think Mike was craftier around the rim but if you give him the a slight lane he's dunking on your face. He always went to the foul line. ALWAYS it felt like. I think Mike and Lebron play the passing lanes extremely well, mike had the advantage b/c of his smaller frame and quickness.
7/8/2013 4:54:14 PM
After LBJ wins 6 rings and 6 MVPs, we can then debate on this.
7/8/2013 4:56:20 PM
also he has to be the reason his father is murdered and star in the greatest live action/cartoon movie of all time.then we can compare them.
7/8/2013 5:11:37 PM
eh. close call. i think Roger Rabbit is better when it comes to legacy. More Awards too.

"MJ is the black Jesus to me."---LBJ
7/8/2013 5:43:50 PM
Wow lakers cut artest instead of kobe then sign kaman. Lol makes no sense. They save no money and now REALLY suck. Theyre a 25-30 win team now probably. If they can trade nash or gasol they have a shot at Wiggins. And if Sacramento signs ellis they wont win 20 games next year. That franchise is terrible.
7/8/2013 9:06:09 PM
The Lakers should cut Kobe and Gasol, so they can offer Birdman a max contract.
7/8/2013 9:29:20 PM
So now there are only two NBA threads: Offseason thread and season thread.[Edited on July 8, 2013 at 9:32 PM. Reason : Where's MWP going? Back to Houston?][Edited on July 8, 2013 at 9:32 PM. Reason : How about playing in China?]
