I've never heard before that PVs "run out" of electrons, and my understanding of P-N junctions doesn't imply this:http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/solids/pnjun.htmlNor does this description of how PVs work:https://books.google.com/books?id=-v_LfcIdJxIC&pg=PA373&lpg=PA373&dq=can+holes+in+p+n+junction+permanently+fill&source=bl&ots=3SIvpSxj-H&sig=kzi_1sMbTF4qjQPh9icECWTA7r0&hl=en&sa=X&ei=rKTKVIuQOcmvyASMwICQAQ&ved=0CEYQ6AEwBg#v=onepage&q=can%20holes%20in%20p%20n%20junction%20permanently%20fill&f=falseSeems like what's happening is that the energy from the sun pushes electrons into holes, establishing an electric field, which induces a current in the circuit, which is then used to charge a battery.

Been saying that for a long time, the Model X still isn't out. How many years over due will the 3 be?
5/12/2015 7:39:43 PM
Supposedly the Model X will be out in Q3, which I find very interesting given that it's Q2 and we haven't even seen what it looks like (undisguised). A bit unorthodox, but then again it's Tesla.

If anyone wants to buy my preorder for an S let me know I'd probably sell it half price since I already wrote it off.
5/13/2015 10:47:59 AM
The model III will, without a doubt, cost much more than 35k when it comes out. This is more Eli smoke and mirrors. I am guessing it will start closer to 50k base, and start around 42,500 AFTER tax credits. No way in hell the car starts at 35k pre tax credit, and I find it extremely unlikely they will underprice a car like than in the upper 30s, low 40s. It just doesn't make sense. They will still slaughter the 3 series space in the mid to upper 40s when you look at total cost of ownership.I think it will be a great car, but Eli is full of shit. He should have to endure a cock punch each time he opens his mouth and says something that doesn't come through, then he'll keep that overpromising mouth shut.

I'm wondering when, if ever, it will catch up with them. People love them some Elon.

Q-My late husband left me with 500 shares of Tucker Corp., purchased in 1947. Is this stock of any value or worthless?A-That rare stock hasn`t run out of gas. Tucker Corp. shares are worthless as investments, but the certificates have some value ascollectibles. This failed manufacturer of an innovative rear-engine car, despite its financial shortcomings, provided an interesting story line for the Francis Ford Coppola film, ``Tucker: A Man and His Dream,`` which starred Jeff Bridges.Tucker, a Delaware corporation based in Chicago, quickly fell on hard times and went bankrupt in 1949. Its corporate charter was forfeited in early 1952, said Robert Fisher, vice president with the New York-based R.M. Smythe & Co. stock-search firm.``If your certificates for 500 shares are originals and have been maintained in good condition, they are worth about $50 per certificate at retail,`` said Fisher. ``I would recommend that you have a professional examine them for a true appraisal.``

^ Pics of production model were leaked nearly a month ago! But yeah, it is officially out now.Ugh, what happened to the grill??? Reminds me of Neo in The Matrix when Agent Smith seals his mouth shut by fusing his lips... that's what it looks like without a grill! It looked way better in concept form with the grill similar to the Model S grill. Otherwise, it looks good.
9/30/2015 5:38:24 AM
what is the point of the doors? they are retarded
9/30/2015 10:47:52 AM
^ Small parking spaces so you can get out of the car or into the car if blocked in. Less risk of dinging someone else's car.Still don't like them, but maybe they are better in practice.
9/30/2015 10:55:43 AM
But the front doors still open out, so how does it save space?
10/1/2015 7:05:31 AM
I like them. Beats the hell out of normal boring doors. Hopefully some automakers will grow a sack sometime soon and start offering suicide doors again.

Those of you talking about the rear doors, see the launch event video athttp://www.teslamotors.com/modelxForward to 17:00 and watch for 4 min for the door demonstration. Mind, blown!I do wonder though, how durable they will be in the long term.
10/1/2015 4:50:49 PM
They open up to the Tesla logo. Pretty cool.
10/1/2015 5:50:50 PM
^^ still doesn't explain the benefitthe front doors still open normally, so it's not really saving space. the van that they use in the demonstration has rear doors that open in a small space, but they have the advantage of creating a wide opening that these doors don't provide. what is the purpose of this, it just adds complexity and potential failure points.
10/2/2015 10:51:19 AM
The value of those doors is going to be situational...If you have kids, and you need to get them buckled in and situated, having those doors is going to be awesome. Because short of driving a mini van, which no self respecting parent ever WANTS to do, you will be in an SUV with outwardly opening doors. You are correct that you still have to open the driver's door, or you can crawl through from the back to the front in a really tight spot.
10/2/2015 11:08:22 AM
I'd take a minivan 10/10 times over an suv, especially for stuffing it full of kids
10/2/2015 1:47:47 PM
it is a lot easier to put a child in a child seat and buckle him/her up with the model X's doors than with traditional doors, and especially so in a tight space as demonstrated in the video.sure, the driver and front passenger would still have to squeeze in if in a tight space as the front doors are traditional, but that's always easier than putting a child (or other large object) inside (with traditional doors) in the same tight space.*******************************ok, he has officially gone mad now

10/23/2015 12:11:34 AM
The system gave less than 1 second of warning before the point of no return. This, at crawling 35mph speeds on a well-marked highway lined with trees and an oncoming car that that the system totally ignored. Even accounting for the complete failure of the autosteering, the car should have recognized a collision was imminent and locked the brakes, so it failed in that regard too.Tesla should turn off this feature tonight, if they want to save themselves from the crashes, fires and ensuing lawsuits that destroy the company.
10/25/2015 6:11:04 PM
It is only supposed to be used on the highway. If you abuse any feature on a car, crap can happen.
10/26/2015 9:47:26 AM
maybe they should push an update that uses the GPS to lock its use to divided highway only
10/26/2015 11:01:45 AM
I suspect that is going to happen. Someone is going to get hurt, or killed, soon. And then they'll have to make changes.I have to give Tesla props for deciding to be the first to do this, but I hope they are prepared for lawsuits.
