im surprised graham caught that
9/17/2011 8:45:55 PM
and haha, they took 3 pts away from USA
9/17/2011 8:46:47 PM
ill say this... first 3 games as a receiver, TJ Graham has really impressed me... he's light years beyond where he was last year. And i don't mean easy stuff like that, but catching the out-routes and the stuff in the middle of the field.
9/17/2011 8:47:03 PM
this is a waste of my multi-tasking skills...I could watch the game on my iPhone and watch some TV
9/17/2011 8:47:08 PM
still stealing those 3 pts from them, lol
9/17/2011 8:48:00 PM

9/17/2011 8:51:39 PM

9/17/2011 8:52:10 PM

Losing Manning for the year would be catastrophic.
9/17/2011 10:16:29 PM
no way we lost manning for the year. i saw him stretching and itching to come back in all game. standing around and walking all over the place.
9/17/2011 10:27:43 PM
"just got back from the game" mandatory post here:
9/17/2011 10:36:16 PM
My guess was back spasms with manning just from the way he was walking and holding his shoulders. Maddox had some damn good tackles tho.
9/17/2011 10:36:26 PM
Got a bonus point on my lawn/sports turf management quiz friday since I chose under on 49 combined points.
9/17/2011 10:40:41 PM
^wow, I would have definitely take the over on that...
9/17/2011 11:12:47 PM
^^^^how exactly did we get outcoached and outplayed? this would imply *to me* that we lost...i must note, i did not watch the game, but i would have a hard time believing we got both outplayed and outcoached and still outgained a team by 100+ yards, intercepted their quarterback twice (to our none), and freaking won the game 35-13. honestly, someone explain this to me.i'm not trying to pick a fight here, just honestly want to know how you could think that. i guess i could see one or the other being the case, but no way both is true.and again, i did not watch this game.]

9/17/2011 11:24:36 PM
Aight. Thanks for the response.Didn't we score on our first possession though?
9/17/2011 11:29:46 PM
^Yes we did score on our first possession.
9/17/2011 11:32:42 PM
^^ Should clarify...talking about our defense. I think we did score on the first posession, but not 100% sure. Our defense just doesn't have that 'attack' and killer instinct it did when Nate was there. Our LB's are pretty much nonexistent... I don't even recall them standing out at all like they did last year (I mean that for the entire season thus far). Audi and Manning looked WONDERFUL last year and I thought they'd fill in Nate's shoes just fine. I was wrong. With that said, I remember that Nate wasn't that great the first few games last year. I even remember some discussion about how terrible of an idea it was to move him to MLB and that he'd never be the same because of the wreck. I think he turned out OKOur DLine might as well not even be on the fieldOffense is NOT our problem. Glennon looks very good, and while I wish we still had RW, not sure that would make a difference. I just wonder if this isn't a hangover from the RW decision. Our fans are torn on the RW decision...maybe the team, who personally knew him, are too? It just seems that we are lifeless overall. Chemistry is a tricky thing. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, it just seems something isn't right. D should be our strength from all that we returned, but they most definitely are our achilles heel at the moment[Edited on September 17, 2011 at 11:43 PM. Reason : ]

Team lacks identity. nothing stands out as particularly impressive other than tj returning kicks. I'm more and more impressed with palmer and graham.
9/17/2011 11:45:07 PM
^ and ^^, I agree. I'm really impressed with Palmer so far...and obviously Glennon. But we do lack a true identity, for sure.
9/17/2011 11:47:05 PM
^^^ gotcha.I no doubt agree we lack an identity. We need some folks on D to step up.[Edited on September 17, 2011 at 11:49 PM. Reason : P]
9/17/2011 11:48:51 PM
the dude won 9 games last year, and was literally an inch away from the ACC championship game.we replaced our offensive and defensive leaders this season and are grooming young players to fill key roles. most of the problems we've seen will probably alleviate themselves as the players get accustomed to playing with each other at game speed.we came out flat against wake forest, and lost the game despite a late-game push where we showed some potential to be explosive.we're 2-1, and we really won't know how we are as a team until after we play cincy.everyone just pipe down, the sky is not falling. not yet, anyway
9/17/2011 11:59:51 PM
That's more the stance I'm taking. I was just picking people's brains. I think our D needs to step up, but I feel like we are making progress as a team.
9/18/2011 12:01:34 AM
it also gave me an excuse to tell people to "pipe down," which is a command I want to incorporate in my every-day life.
9/18/2011 12:07:31 AM
Hahaha, I guess some people need to be slapped in the face with the obvious before they realize the truth. If FCS teams are freely moving the ball on us, then Cincy is going to have a record-setting performance. Use your eyeballs. We are playing really bad football. FCS teams are blowing us off the line. Jesus christ.Well, one more week and you will have your wish. Our running game and rest of the offense are simply not good enough to keep up with the pace at which our defense gives up points.
9/18/2011 12:09:37 AM
I think it's one of 2 things that's afflicting us:1) Our DLine play 2) Lack of vocal leader on this defense. I remember Phil's senior year we thought we were going to be solid on D. IIRC, we returned most of our secondary and LB corps...but we replaced the entire defensive line. I think the only starter we had back actually didn't qualify (Terrance Chapman...I think that's the right year?). Either way, we started a young McCargo and Mario on the DLine. I think we had like 3 frosh and a sophmore starting on the line and just got eaten alive. QB's could have pitched a tent and taken a nap in the backfield that year due to our inexperience....our pretty good secondary and LB's looked really bad as a result. I hope Sweezy and Rieskamp really help the situation. This experience made me realize how important the trenches are. We went from like #110 in D to #1 in 1 year because our D line grew up and gained so much experience after being thrown in too young. If Sweezy and Rieskamp don't fix this, then we just appear to flat out lack leadership and it's not a defensive pressure thing. All I know is that Price had waaaaay too much time to throw the ball last week. I really really hope it's not a 'team has given up on the staff' situation due to the RW saga. I remember on PP a certain receiver's father said that a lot of the team, some of the staff, and his son was pretty pissed off about how it went down and he wasn't giving glowing reviews of TOB after that. You never know what the whole story was, but I would imagine the team is just as baffled as we were. Like I said, it's still a sore subject to a lot of people on here, and they weren't friends with the guy. The good news is that it looks like the team is TRYING, they just aren't looking real good doing it. [Edited on September 18, 2011 at 12:24 AM. Reason : ]
