^^I almost bought a game used Dalpe Checkers jersey on eBay today for ~$400. I wouldve been upset w/myself for spending that much though.

I suppose there's no good way to strip a jersey clean and get a new number and name sewn on without paying a price so high that you're better off just buying a new one?

that'd be like taking the heat sensitivity out of a hypercolor shirt

be not ashamed of your jersey honoring those long gone (and those yet to return)

wear it proudly, and feel sorry for those less badass than you

Dalpe probably gets his shot to stick with the 'Canes this year. I was thinking Boychuk would too, he can't really prove anything else in the AHL and would give us another play maker type of guy. I just don't know where Boychuk would fit in the lineup.

if boychuk proves himself worthy, they'll find a spot by shipping someone out.

also, ponikarovsky just seems to me like another one of those players who rediscover their game in carolina. if he could chip in 15 goals and 35-40 points that would be a huge help.

I forget who said it, but I think the statement about Kaberle coming here and sparking his career before retiring might just be accurate. A few of the folks in twitter land were saying that he was encouraged to come here by both Frank and their dad. Perhaps the man has finally found a home where he wants to be.

I also feel like the Panthers are trying to buy the playoffs and it's going to be an expensive first round exit.

did we improve anything by trading Karbele for Corvo? I would rather use that money for the forward lines.

We traded Corvo for a 4th. We signed Kaberle... I suppose it's ultimately the same thing.

We still have money for a forward with respect to how the trade affected this.

^ Bryan Allen was #5 last year was he not? Kaberle needs to figure out a jersey number as all of his that he's used that I'm aware of have been taken.

i say we do like NJ and make everyone pick a number under 40.

with the exceptions of 2, 3, 9, 10, and 17, of course.

I was thinking only Canes... has there ever been a #9 in Carolina?

I can't think of one off the top of my head.

No, because there's an unofficial retirement in honor of Howe that's been in place since before the move. It's similar to the unofficial Chiasson retirement that can never be made official.

I suppose if I had just thought about it, I would have come to that conclusion. Thanks for the info, though, Vinyl.

I have to admit, I am really excited for the upcoming season.

We'll, howe had his number retired by the whalers, as well as other people. Karmanos kept 9 retired since Howe was his favorite player ever.

Also, 99 is retired.

Dammit100 with the RT by Stewart. nice.

Also, Joslin signed to a 2 year deal. 650k and 750k per year.

Well this certainly only adds more fire to the Hemsky speculation. We are around $1.5 million under our supposed $50 million budget, and sending Gleason or Allen out would open up $4.5 to $5 million. Hemsky makes $5 million...

Where is the Hemsky speculation coming from?

I don't think we need to make any more moves.

Good to see the deal finally done, cheaper than I would've guessed also.

^ Most of the stuff I've seen about Hemsky has come from some of those NHL rumor websites, I remember reading before FA began about a potential trade involving Boychuk. I think now it would have to be a defenseman going the other way as most of the forwards we have making enough to clear room for Hemsky likely won't be dealt.

Someone tweeted yesterday that the Canes are likely done making moves... basically confirming my suspicion.

There's no way they let go of Gleason, he is the new Glen Wesley but better. Bryan Allen I could see them moving, but why? They traded for him last season in an effort to make the playoffs and it didn't happen. He definitely played as expected, and if he does so this year with the talent on the Canes; the play-offs are happening.

Glen was the face of the defense for the Hurricanes of old... Tim is the face of the Hurricanes of new.

I hope he is better. He is not better. I was wrong.

On the Hemsky rumors, I say go for it. Ideally, a young forward like Boychuk would go the other way. We've shown that we are going to keep guys like Tlusty and Dwyer and Larose around and not give a Boychuk a chance so might as well get an upgrade. If they're asking for McBain, I'd still do it although I would think about it a little more. Last year, I'd say no way. But with the emergence of Faulk and then Murphy falling to our laps in the draft, we now have depth at D.
