I'm trying to convince a friend to go ahead and get tickets ASAP.Does anyone remember how long it took tickets to sell out last year?
4/26/2011 10:26:07 AM
A lot longer than it's gonna take this year.
4/26/2011 10:26:36 AM
Yeah, he is trying to get other people to get tickets too and is waiting around, almost the exact mistake I made last year

Hey anyone know or work with the organizers of this event?I'm trying to get a package together for the Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic the weekend before.

Tweet at @Hopscotchfest, @currincy, or @tweetenhagen
5/4/2011 6:09:40 PM
I'll def hit them up tomorrow. I'd totally bid on an auction package that got me in the festival.
5/4/2011 11:53:05 PM
heard some pretty rad news tonight
6/2/2011 3:58:33 AM
about the new surprises coming w/ the schedule next week? (don't make me wait...i've never been good at it...)
6/2/2011 10:48:04 AM
^^arcade fire, playing in wizard costumes, at midnight on Dix Hill w/ fireworks display, covering Beatles B-Sides? They got me excited with a bunch of "additions" last year, that were pretty disappointing so I will try not to get my hopes up!
6/2/2011 10:51:30 AM
the only addition i know about so far is indeed awesomealso awesome is this contest to win a lifetime VIP pass:http://tinyurl.com/3eoprf2it's fairly easy
6/6/2011 5:58:34 PM
What did you put for the Brewery question? I'm pretty sure mine was right, but really obscure. It's because I think Superchunk sucks.
6/6/2011 9:57:32 PM
the brewery and superchunk used be good, but neither are anymore.but on the serious i just said that superchunk often used to play at the brewery. which is true. i don't know if there's some deeper answer.
6/6/2011 10:22:01 PM
^i spent the most time on that one as well, but ended up putting something similarly "safe."
6/6/2011 11:29:23 PM
Is the Brewery even still open?I only saw one show there ever...
6/6/2011 11:44:57 PM
yeah but you have to be an angsty 15 year old just to get through the door
6/6/2011 11:47:36 PM
Letters of the band that vinylbandit knows:G
6/7/2011 12:26:41 AM
ayngs?
6/7/2011 12:28:21 AM
^^ Incorrect. Also, the Brewery has found a new niche, putting on shows for emo kids that start at 6 PM.No joke, roll past there at 5:15 PM on a Thursday and there will be a line out the door to see some shitty screamo band with dumb haircuts.Good for them, though; there's an audience there that no other club is willing to cater to.
6/7/2011 2:38:38 AM
megafaun will be in europe at the time, so no gayngs or megafaun related acts
6/7/2011 5:50:27 PM
Gayngs have played without the Megafaun dudes before
6/7/2011 6:06:15 PM
i, too, know the super secret band.and it's a good one, for sure.(if we're talking about the same one, but i think we are)
6/7/2011 6:40:50 PM
Good one, like locally good? When are they announcing....midnight or tomorrow am?
6/7/2011 8:20:19 PM
not sure if other people know other secret bandsbut the one i'm talking about is the finest rock and roll band in america today
6/7/2011 8:22:55 PM
http://www.newraleigh.com/articles/archive/hopscotch-adds-13-bands-including-titus-andronicus-vivian-girls-and-more/Which band is everybody excited about? Titus Andronicus?
6/8/2011 10:31:38 AM
^ I would imagine Titus or Times New Viking. Vivian Girls could be good too. I was expecting the Rosebuds. Are they touring elsewhere during that time?
6/8/2011 11:03:27 AM
don't miss pc worship or you're a dumb fuck or in another band that has to play at the same time. also, where did tyvek go?
6/8/2011 11:07:27 AM
that sounded mean, but you really should see them.
6/8/2011 11:30:25 AM
Psyched for TA (esp. after seeing them last week). Vivian Girls are fun live too (although I'm not crazy about their latest album).
6/8/2011 12:04:20 PM
Psyched about the additions. Didn't know about Vivian Girls or Times New Viking, those are pretty cool as well. Greg was talking a lot about trying to get the world's greatest bar band to headline Tir Na Nog, and so they are...that show is going to be completely batshit.
6/8/2011 3:10:31 PM
who is the world's greatest bar band?
6/8/2011 3:34:47 PM
titus
6/8/2011 3:48:35 PM
Some would argue that the world's greatest bar band is actually headlining City Plaza on Friday.
6/8/2011 3:57:49 PM
woof. there is absolutely nothing that appeals to me about that band's music. it oozes cheese, and it ain't a stuffed crust pizza so i don't want anything to do with it. i'm sure they're nice people, though.
6/8/2011 4:00:37 PM
kodiak has got it!
6/8/2011 4:01:52 PM
seeing the overall thing in schedule form kinda backs up my same feelings of being slightly disappointed about the whole lineup, but it's still gonna be a lot of fun. Slim's got some good shows.
6/8/2011 4:16:09 PM
they added brain flannel, which is awesome. their lp is gonna smoke some asses.
6/8/2011 4:18:52 PM
GOD DAMMIT FUTURE ISLANDS AND TITUS ANDRONICUS OVERLAPPING
6/8/2011 5:19:20 PM
^that's an easy decision here. i've seen future islands enough now (including @ hopscotch I) that i'm willing to give up their hopscotch performance for a potentially epic TA show.
6/8/2011 6:58:39 PM
reeeeeeeally wish TA was playing somewhere other than Tir Na Nog[Edited on June 8, 2011 at 7:16 PM. Reason : them and Lonnie Walker should trade]
6/8/2011 7:07:20 PM
I bought a ticket solely to see krallice, my favorite band and members of my other favorite solo/side projects. They don't tour much and colin marston produces a bunch of other stuff in my top 20. I am incredibly surprised they aren't playing with liturgy (colin records their albums). It sucks that most of the shows I'm going to have local bands that I have seen 100x opening and not many other opening bands that I would skip out to see...Also everyone should go see hog if you like heavy music like baroness, mastodon or kylesa. I may be filling in on bass for that band for a couple shows/mini tour in the next month. Support them they are cool dudes!I'm astraladvent and I approved this message
6/8/2011 8:31:32 PM
i've seen vivian girls twice, and they can be hit or miss. their new album is kind of mediocre, and they have a new drummer too, so i'm not sure about seeing them.titus andronicus is great, but i'll be sad to miss dawn golden & rosy cross.
6/8/2011 10:55:03 PM
I am totally down for camping out at Slim's on opening night for PC Worship and X-Ray Eyeballs. The whole thing seems a good way to open up the fest.Complaints:Same as everybody else's, I'm sure. The schedule kinda blows. It overlaps the few bands I wanted to surely see, and places some pretty high emphasis on local bands. Whatever. I've got several months to map it out and will still have an awesome time. And Foreign Exchange, what the fuck is this shit? Hahahaha.Oh, and I have no experience with the Vivian Girls, and wouldn't kick Kickball Katy out of bed; but that doesn't say a lot about her musical ability. That last La Sera album was garbage. Not sure if I'd complain about a garage rock band's drummer though (that I was reading a few posts up...).[Edited on June 8, 2011 at 11:12 PM. Reason : mj]
6/8/2011 11:08:42 PM
^i know, it's not really a legitimate criticism that they changed drummers, but their dynamic might be different now. who knows. also, i might skip out on vivian girls because i'm pretty sure i creeped out cassie ramone one time.
6/8/2011 11:16:04 PM
Those Darlins > Vivian Girls
