LOL, worst storm ever. Probably going to be done snowing in about 10 minutes looking at the radar.
1/10/2011 3:46:30 PM
the new discussion explains it throrougly..as senez posted above, they said that the current forcing was ending and there would be a lull... but as the low deepens and moves up the coast, there should be more coverage of precip tonight and overnight

1/10/2011 3:47:19 PM
That's all she wrote folks see you at work tomorrow
1/10/2011 3:53:44 PM
wow.....the band of precip broke up right when it got over my house in NW Raleigh. Nothing but some flurries and not much else behind it. What a bunch of shit this storm turned out to be.
1/10/2011 4:04:53 PM
6'' in my backyard in Raeford
1/10/2011 4:12:53 PM
Fuck this, what a bunch of horseshit. Not a damn thing around here in Raleigh
1/10/2011 5:06:55 PM
we have about half inch in fuquay and it iscoming down again really heavy
1/10/2011 5:11:55 PM
us air just canceled my flight tomorrow, looks like that one snow flake at rdu stuck
1/10/2011 5:28:35 PM
What an epic fail for weather forecasters around Raleigh. Those guys didn't know their asses from holes in the ground this go around. I don't see the sense in trying to modify any of my plans with "experts" that can't call this stuff a few days in advance...or even a DAY in advance.
1/10/2011 11:40:18 PM
Greg Fishel said it wasn't going to be a big deal in the Triangle. What are you talking about?
1/11/2011 12:04:18 AM
^^People less than an hour away from us got 6-8 inches of snow, plus sleet and freezing rain. Close enough for me.
1/11/2011 2:08:23 AM
yeah, he actually nailed it pretty well..he said that the moisture would have a very very tough time getting through the dry air and it would be more ice than snow for us. he also nailed the timing, saying mid-late afternoon for the start of it...
1/11/2011 6:35:03 AM
meh, i guess so
1/11/2011 10:05:56 AM
ok so when's the next storm?
1/12/2011 10:18:59 AM
Next Wednesday.
1/12/2011 10:28:39 AM
it'll be relatively warm then though, right? highs in the 50s or something...
1/12/2011 10:36:28 AM
Why are you listening to a meteorologist, anyway? You guys all think we're wrong.
1/12/2011 10:41:08 AM
^you seem to be more accurate than most from what i can tell.
1/12/2011 10:47:28 AM
so is that a yay or a nay on the temp?
1/12/2011 10:55:31 AM
Early returns indicate a return to normal temps, so yeah, probably not.
1/12/2011 11:21:50 AM
Can anyone explain why Monday night's storm mostly avoided Raleigh (and just Raleigh)?
1/12/2011 12:22:45 PM
It "avoided" anything near I-40 and parts north in NC, not just Raleigh. But, from what I can tell, there was a combination of high pressure to the north blocking the system from coming up as well as it was absurdly dry in Raleigh all day (dewpoints ~9).
1/12/2011 12:30:08 PM
1/12/2011 12:32:12 PM
the beach gets 3-4+ inches and we get shafted...typical raleigh snowstorm...
1/12/2011 3:01:47 PM
How cold will it get in the next few weeks. Signs pointing towards another cool down after a brief warm up?
1/13/2011 12:46:42 AM
The end of next week might be a little cool, but not as cold as the last few days have been. Probably into the mid 40s, I would guess. Hard to say right now.
1/13/2011 7:55:03 AM
Alright meteorologists, what are our chances of winter weather Monday night and Tuesday of next week? I'm hearing rumor of snow and/or ice.Also--eyewall, you've taken down your website! When will you have it back up??[Edited on January 20, 2011 at 9:17 AM. Reason : ]
1/20/2011 9:14:50 AM
i'm down for it
1/20/2011 9:16:19 AM
The problem with this upcoming situation is a more typical Miller A scenario. There's going to be the haves and the have nots here. Some all snow, some mostly rain.Right now, it looks west of the Triangle will see snow and from the Triangle east will see mostly rain with some snow.Something like this: It just gives you guys more fodder for the "meteorologists don't know shit" argument.[Edited on January 20, 2011 at 10:54 AM. 1/20/2011 10:39:53 AM
its going to be too warm. we wont' see shit.
1/20/2011 12:31:54 PM
sparky with the forecast. my work is done.
1/20/2011 2:27:07 PM
ibtff
1/21/2011 11:51:00 AM
What's the NAM say?
1/22/2011 12:22:02 PM
Looks like they're getting a nice little snowstorm at the beach!http://obxcams.com/
1/22/2011 1:28:04 PM
I predict mostly rain for Raleigh...based on the timing, the warm nose, and the narrow transition setting up to our west.
1/22/2011 6:27:45 PM
1/22/2011 6:28:18 PM
I would have to agree and say fail for central NC on this upcoming storm with the inland track, transient parent high (so no cold air feed), and warm air aloft in the mid levels (warm nose). I would say if you are east of I-77 rent a movie.
1/22/2011 7:52:26 PM
Drove to Beaufort yesterday to see the in-laws.It has indeed been snowing all day long. Prob 4" in the front yard right now.I packed a long sleeve t-shirt and a fleece vest.
1/22/2011 8:21:41 PM
It ain't gonna do shit, unless you are a fan of heavy cold rain that is
1/23/2011 5:17:49 PM
s[NO]w in Raleigh!
1/25/2011 7:00:48 AM
1/25/2011 12:46:54 PM

1/26/2011 6:01:45 PM
so Greg Fishel says we have seen our snow for the year...... discuss
1/27/2011 7:23:13 AM
probably
1/27/2011 7:23:52 AM
1/27/2011 8:09:21 AM
yeah it seems like we are in a warming trend. saturday's high is going to be close to 60. spring is on its way.
1/27/2011 9:28:24 AM
blasphemy! we're only 1/3 of the way through winter.
1/27/2011 9:35:59 AM
we've had some of our biggest snows in late february/early march
1/27/2011 3:57:24 PM
^thisdon't let that warming fool you..
