lol. I'm sure a bunch of IC people will agree until a State imposter on there reminds them that they lost to GT, then they will say "we'd be undefeated if the NCAA wasn't corrupt". IC is just a big bag of dicks.

Quote :
"Now on to October ...
... And the 10 games next month that will most directly shape the national championship chase:

Florida at Alabama (21), Oct. 2.

[+] EnlargeSaban/Meyer
AP Photo/Dave MartinUrban Meyer and Nick Saban faceoff again Saturday.

Why it's big: You mean beyond the fact that they're both ranked in the top 10? Well, there's this: The winner of the past two meetings between these schools has gone on to win the national championship.

Why it's interesting: Nick Saban versus Urban Meyer is the current gold standard of coaching rivalries. Since 2001, they've combined to win four national titles and taken four different schools to eight BCS bowls. And they'd rather chug a pitcher of molten lava than lose.

Who will win: Alabama, 23-17.

Stanford at Oregon (22), Oct. 2.

Why it's big: Another top-10 matchup that will establish a firm favorite to win a conference. It also could significantly impact two Heisman candidacies (Stanford's Andrew Luck, Oregon's LaMichael James).

Why it's interesting: If Saban and Meyer are two of the established coaching stars in college football, Jim Harbaugh and Chip Kelly are two of the rising ones. Which one is ready to step into the post-Pete Carroll coaching void atop the Pac-10?

Who will win: Oregon, 35-31.

Oklahoma vs. Texas (23), Oct. 2.

Why it's big: The Red River Rivalry is always big, but this one lost some serious steam when the Longhorns were smashed by UCLA. Still, Oklahoma is a legitimate national championship aspirant. Texas can severely damage those aspirations while also getting a long leg up in the Big 12 South race.

Why it's interesting: Texas' sluggish offense is 77th nationally. Oklahoma's lax defense is 97th nationally. Which disappointing unit steps up in a big-time atmosphere?

Who will win: Oklahoma, 24-20.

Virginia Tech at NC State (24), Oct. 2.

Why it's big: Wolfpack are the last unbeaten team in the ACC, and thus carry whatever spindly national championship hopes that exist for the league. Hokies continue to carry part of Boise State's banner with them, making this another big game the Broncos don't play in. (More on the Boise bus later.)

Why it's interesting: Matchup of the two best quarterbacks in the ACC. Tech's Tyrod Taylor is 15th nationally in pass efficiency; State's Russell Wilson is 14th nationally in total offense. Both seemingly have been at their respective schools since the pre-face mask days.

Who will win: Virginia Tech, 21-19.

i'd be a little surprised if we get held to 19. Let alone, not sure how that score would logically happen.

4^ N.C. State scores 3 TDs, CJax misses one XP and a 2point conversion fails.

But I too don't think we can be held to less than 20 points.

He is apparently pissed about it. Greene and Haynes have been performing quite well though so I don't see anything wrong with it if it turns out to be true.

I can understand his frustration after red-shirting last year and never really getting a chance to prove himself in a game, but it is what it is. He's not going to pass Greene on the depth chart.

Well that sucks if true about Underwood being pissed but oh well I guess, Gentry is a fullback and everyone loves him

I don't want to get too optimistic but I think we can score over 20 as well--VT's secondary isn't all that good. And Taylor hasn't passed for over 300 yards this year. If we stop the run decently well I think we win.

Underwood at FB doesn't make a lot of sense, unless we're changing the offense up a little bit and are thinking about using the FB to run the ball some. Gentry has filled his role perfectly in what they ask him to do, but we don't run with the fullback much at all.

Yeah, I don't know what the harm would be in giving Underwood some dives up the middle as a FB, it would be a new look for the offense and he does seem to be the best pure power back we have

The argument is moot because he's not going to see the field much at either position. He was 3rd on the depth chart at tb and now he's 2nd at fb.

The formula is similar to last week although they are different offenses. Stop the run on 1st and 2nd down and make them beat you on 3 and 6+. Last week on First Down the Hokies ran 17/24 times or 71%.

And from this article http://hamptonroads.com/2010/09/nc-state-week-vol-2-closer-look-vts-redzone-woes

it says they have ran the ball 15/16 times on first down in the red zone this year and 80% of their red zone plays are runs.

However they could change this considering their red zone struggles last week.

The fullback doesn't carry the ball in our offense - in fact, I don't think that Gentry has a rushing statistic by his name. They are mainly used for blocking, pass protection, and receiving.

If you remember the Cincy game, Underwood caught a pass and ran it in for a TD. Maybe the coaches want to use him that way? It would give us good depth at the FB position. Maybe this means that Washington is recovered from his injury.

If I were Underwood, I'd be thrilled just to touch the field at this point. Even if it means splitting reps with Gentry.

Gentry def. has some catches out of the backfield.

I remember the UNC game and that picture of his dad like it was yesterday.

you need three tailbacks. so if Underwood moved, that must mean James Washington or Brandon Barnes are ready to play.

Expect this to be a much tougher environment than BC. While the Eagles had trouble filling Alumni Stadium for a Nooner, Carter-Finley can be one of the loudest, most-frenzied crowds in the ACC for big games. This will be a huge test of the Hokies' fortitude."
