mixmeister. it's not the most impressive piece of software in the world, but it's pretty easy to use and produces something decently enjoyable. i plan on teaching myself how to use albeton later.

i like cubase. definitely start with tutorials, though, because it's a little different than other programs.

I listen to a little of the brostep stuff every now and again, but we've been flooded with so much mediocre or shitty brostep that my interest has waned.

i'd put Nero, Rusko, Knife party, datsik, borgore all under "mostly" dubstep. But just about every EDM artist crosses between the genre's at will, sometimes even on the same track. No one is really "anything" anymore save maybe the Trance guys who are just trance (even Tiesto got massive shit on the live stream for playing a trap track).
