^&^^^If you ever plan on doing the 12 hr or 24 hr B Spec endurance races then you'll have to leave them on for 12 or 24 hrs. And it won't matter whether you're at home for it or using it remotely from the bar or your office. So there's no downside to this feature. And if you're concerned about leaving the PS3 on for a long time just point a fan at it.

i have another 2 yellow birds, so i can trade/gift one, got anything interesting? (doesn't have to cost the same, i dont need 3 of them...)
1/17/2011 9:40:36 PM
^ if you still want an RGT feel free to gift one to me (skyfire3000). i'll send it to you once i get online later tonight

does everyone typically gold the seasonal event races (4)? having a hard time with the first one.
1/17/2011 11:08:59 PM
I gold them all (first try too) I give myself better (than stock) tires though, and usually a couple of other upgrades too though
1/17/2011 11:25:53 PM
what did you upgrade on the Mitsubishi i-MiEV race?
1/17/2011 11:35:05 PM
^^you can make those races as hard as you want, they took away the restrictions that used to be in place. Personally I hope they reintroduce restrictions but for the time being they're completely wide open.Took a crack at the Sebastian Loeb Challenge tonight. After 90 minutes I'd golded the first two tracks. Funny thing about the second track was that the first 2 times I completed a lap without DQ'ing I didn't even get bronze but the 3rd complete lap I got gold
1/17/2011 11:35:55 PM
yeah i agree the restrictions made it kinda fun, they should have them still but for the actual trophies or something, or at least SOME kind of restrictions...for the imev, upgrade what you can, you only need to break lightly twice and once for the hairpin.specter, i got 2 of those, have literally anything else interesting? doesn't have to be expensive or 'good' (much less as good as the yellow bird). just looking for something else.... but yeah i can send one over here in a short bit)actually, if you got the c4 wrc for the seasonal event i could use as a loaner for a day that would be AWESOME, will trade that one back to you fixed upsentyeah i was rolling on a lap of it earlier today, was 2:22 through the middle, going great then must have gotten really slow on the uphill back half, off gold by a full second... the first and the 3rd (the snow one is the third) were really pretty easy when you turn down/off traction controlcan i borrow someones c4 WRC for the seasonal? you'll get it back cleaned up ofc[Edited on January 18, 2011 at 12:42 AM. Reason : s]
1/18/2011 12:18:44 AM
^I don't have the C4 yet, should be getting it tonight though. If nobody else offers up one to borrow you can borrow mine after I beat it tonight. I'm pretty sure the deadline for seasonal bonus races #3 is 10pm Wednesday.on a related note, I already own 2 RUF CTRs. And a 3rd one just popped up in my UCD. Does anyone want it? Its price is 202k credits so we could work out some sort of trade.
1/18/2011 9:02:21 AM
ctr yellow bird? i think the btr is the only one i don't have... (had 3 ctr's, now 3 rgt's, 1-2 ctr2's (hate the paint job on them)i'm always interested in interesting cars, old rally cars, odd but nice other rides (got a elise 111s, a few mr2's, was thinking about getting the bmw 330i touring car but 'meh')
1/18/2011 10:29:16 AM
Sorry, I meant the CTR2. Not the Yellowbird, of which I do own one
1/18/2011 11:37:15 AM
I just got the formula gran turismo last night . The only huge dissapointment I have with it is that there is no cockpit view. That's rubbish, spend 4.8 mil on a car and can't drive it from within...
1/18/2011 12:09:08 PM
Did you buy it from the UCD? None of those cars are premium....though I'm not sure if it exists in the game as premium. I have little interest in buying one till I have to do the race series
1/18/2011 1:08:40 PM
i bought mine for close to 5mil. So much money but it will literally smoke every Extreme race if you use it for that. Actually haven't tried the Formula race yet, but as I recall from previous GT games it'll be a pain in the neck since you won't have any advantage at all (nothing to upgrade!) over the competition other than patiently waiting to pass them. You spin out or mess up once and you're screwed!
1/18/2011 2:08:31 PM
that's the part of gt4 i liked, the FGT races are long as well if i recall, so the AI is better at 'clean' driving, keeping the tires from boiling etc. He's not as fast but he's clean. and in gt4 you could run the AI and get the same rewards as if you had done it yourself.
1/18/2011 4:31:25 PM
yeah, it's an unfair advantage in everything besides the particular event for it. It is really fun to drive though!
1/18/2011 5:34:26 PM
For you guys that beat the Sebastian Loeb Rally Challenge, did you always have all aids turned off? I thought the first two events were fairly hard but I beat them both with all aids turned off. However after 90 minutes of trying the 3rd one, the snow race, I still couldn't come within 5 seconds of Gold. Hell, I wasn't even getting the Bronze. Then I turned on Skid Force Recovery and immediately won by 8 seconds. I could tell it was a lot faster since I was on the ghost car's ass the entire race and almost passed him a few times.
1/19/2011 8:55:37 AM
odd i won the first and second easily (with TC turned off / down to 1) but the second.... groan....
1/19/2011 5:32:51 PM
haha you ever beat it?
1/19/2011 5:36:03 PM
not the second yet.... i dont really have time tonight before the deadline. i might try it once
1/19/2011 6:34:22 PM
turned off all assists, beat it by 4 seconds, FUCK YEAH!
1/19/2011 6:57:42 PM
Niiice

does anyone know locally (or hell a good place online) to get the GT2 racing wheel? I tried 3 places last night and they all said that they got b/w 3-5 around christmas and haven't seen any since. And I emailed 2 places online about it when I got home to see if they could let me know about it and I haven't heard back from them.
1/20/2011 8:26:47 AM
I did the intermediate Rally Challenges last night (under Specials) with my newly acquired C4 and absolutely whipped the competition. On the snow sections I was passing the 3rd and 2nd place cars before reaching the ends of the stages, lol.

1/20/2011 8:55:02 AM
nah, i'm looking for the logitech wheel
1/20/2011 9:17:01 AM
tke, you should have no problems on the advanced, they just take FOREVER, (8 stages) it WILL rain and snow on you, snow makes no difference, but for the rain make sure you check the weather before you hit start, run rains or intermediates, you probably could go intermediate unless its actually coming down, no matter what the stage right after you see rain fall WILL have wet tarmac so run intermediates still. you wont win the tarmac stages by as much as you will the snow and gravel ones, snow you will probably pass all 3 cars, and gravel you will often pass #3 and sometimes #2. i won advanced tarmac by over 90 seconds total, gravel 1:20 seconds +, snow 180 seconds +you can do these stages in the S4 (the lancia you win from some race)oh yeah, the advanced tarmac stages REQUIRE RACING SOFTS, can't down grade at all....i'll look around some for you bio[Edited on January 20, 2011 at 9:33 AM. 1/20/2011 11:56:46 AM
i think you can get it as a reward, or buy it...probably b/c there are 800 japanese cars in the game already...
1/20/2011 12:30:25 PM
WELL MAKE IT 801!!! (or 802 if you want to include the 92 as well )
1/20/2011 12:37:26 PM
Thanks for the tips Arab13. So you'd recommend using the Lancia S4 (which I do have) over the C4 that I used for the intermediate sections? From all the chatter I've seen on other message boards I'm pretty sure there is no way to win the Schimmwagen. You have to buy it and I think it's around 600k credits. If you are thrifty with your mods I've heard you can still pocket a net 150k from that race. Supposedly 64hp and a customized gear box is all you need to win this event (even on stock tires). Do that and you'll net the 150k.Also set the gearbox to a top speed of 150 km/h (around 93 mph).
1/20/2011 1:19:37 PM
i dunno, didn't have the c4 then! the lancia was pretty easy to use, it comes with a super charger coupled to a turbo so you have boost throughout the powerband...yeah i think that's right for the 'vagon
1/20/2011 4:22:56 PM
ugh... the earliest estimate i've heard for getting a wheel is next week (that is when it would ship). I am debating just waiting and getting one at another time.
1/21/2011 5:32:58 PM
yeah all i was able to find was the gamestop brand, the Logitech ones wouldnt be back in stock till Feb'i can nose around here in greensboro, but i dunno if you want to put that kinda effort in
1/21/2011 6:30:50 PM
we should schedule a wagon race, (must be station wagons, must be comfort soft, must be under X HP etc), a Samabus race (same kinda deal), a truck 'rally' race on snow and gravel (if we can), etc. would be fun i think!
1/21/2011 11:35:27 PM
How many people can online race at once? Just 2? I haven't even looked into this feature yet but I imagine it'd be like arcade mode
1/22/2011 7:08:12 AM
12 i thought.... correction 16 online[Edited on January 22, 2011 at 12:35 PM. Reason : s]

Are the aerodynamic mods available in the GT Auto shop functional or just aesthetic?
1/23/2011 1:33:04 AM
functionalyou can adjust down force and such
1/23/2011 10:18:03 AM
which cars can you perform racing mods on?each car i try it says that its not available
1/23/2011 12:04:07 PM
someone posted a link earlier- there are only 17 (I think the zr-1 is the best one you can do)lemme see if I can find the linkhere ya go:http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=133094[Edited on January 23, 2011 at 12:12 PM. Reason : h]
1/23/2011 12:08:27 PM
yeah only those 15 can be 'race modded' though it's not a tremendous deal (would have made some cars VERY fun to drive in game if they could be race modded) race modding drops the weight considerably, and re-arranges the weight balance (does not over come FR or MR balance though), (i dunno if brakes have been tested yet), full aero kits get put on (full adjustable) and the engine and drive train gets optimized for more power (that you can add through turbos and such). all in all it increases your handling, engine response, etc. it's not cheap though.i do wish they would keep the monetary rewards high for the seasonal events but put the restrictions back on in some form..... (i mean the base reward for the seasonals is often less than the base cost of the cars to run in them..... not good at all for single car races that all you get is exp and a little cash for....)
1/23/2011 7:56:59 PM
so ideas for group races that we all might enjoy? (ie funny as hell?)samabus old VW (anything before '80?)truckSUVminivan of doomold euro cars (no race cars) by decade?JGTC? (by decade?)DTM?i'm for 10 laps on most tracks (not really on the 'ring or sarthe though, at least not for slow cars...)we can do a 24 minutes of lemans?can we do rally tracks? a series of SS stages would be NICE, even better if we could mix gravel, snow, tarmac (with tire options before races)....just pondering
1/23/2011 8:51:01 PM
I tried getting feelers for this before, but it seems like most people in this forum aren't interested in what I'm going for. Which is a series of spec races, one per month, with a race time of around 90-120 minutes (naturally # of laps would vary based on track length). There's 6-7 people in mind that I know of that are up for this, though 10 or so races would be more ideal.
1/23/2011 11:01:19 PM
hm, didn't realize you could paint the race modded cars. sweet.
1/24/2011 12:02:20 AM
i think you might have been asking for a bit too long of a time commitment. i would think a total time of 10-30 min per track is probably all you could reasonably ask for. of course it wouldn't be the most equitable way of doing it but it would be much more accessible to interested parties. We could have the a spec race series on the side that goes longer like you're interested in of course, but i think the average player on here is a bit more, casual.
1/24/2011 12:15:08 AM
I'm down for spec-races. How about 90's Japs cars up to 276 hp? Just throwing something out there.
1/24/2011 12:35:25 AM
^^I'm down for both. I think a spec race will be fun and if we just did one per month I don't think that's a huge time commitment.^PM sent.
1/24/2011 8:35:27 AM
The IC-10 license is pissing me off beyond belief...the other cars will not stop bumping and disqualifying me. I've only actually finished the two laps without someone ramming into me once and it was in 8thAnd three tries later they decide to stop ramming me and I finish first.../facepalm[Edited on January 24, 2011 at 1:24 PM.
