^^ fuck offAlso, I want to stab anyone in the eye who says the Mets aren't playing with the heart they were earlier in the year. Fucking imbeciles.[Edited on July 28, 2010 at 9:31 AM. Reason : page 9 - my favorite number]

Mets do have a favorable schedule the rest of the year. It is no coincidence that they fell in the standings once they started playing some real teams and actually went on the road some. Does not bode well for their chances in Oct if they make it. Mets should be in the thick of both the East race and wild card race in Sept. Braves already starting to show weaknesses again (i.e. inconsistent offense, poor defense, no speed).
7/28/2010 10:45:48 AM
Fucking hell
7/28/2010 7:24:42 PM
Runners on the corners, Pujols is up to bat, and you pitch to him? Then, you intentionally walk Holliday, followed by a pitching change that should have happened much earlier. I just don't get what Manuel is doing.
7/29/2010 1:03:57 AM
Good comeback last night even though you lost in extras. Also watching Reyes act like a little bitch on that check swing strike made realize how much I hate that guy. He really needs to grow up.
7/29/2010 7:32:31 AM
Not sure what you mean. He got called for a swing that wasn't even close and the home plate umpire didn't even ask down to third. It was atrocious and the replays confirmed it. He cooled off and drew the walk. I've seen far, far worse...Anyway, as disappointing as it is for a so-called big market team, probably pretty responsible for the long-term to not make any last ditch effort deals. Could have gotten a Lee if you wanted to trade Davis. Could have gotten an Oswalt if you wanted to trade Niese. Good call on both (one because he's a rental; one because he's way past his prime)...On to 2011...

We'll see who's laughing come WednesdayAnd can we please just call up Fernando Martinez? I'd rather see him throw up a .600 OPS than Francouer.[Edited on August 2, 2010 at 4:02 PM. Reason : x]

Hooray for more mismanagement!Hey, you have one of the best three offensive CF's in baseball the last two seasons batting 2nd. Lets make him sacrifice bunt every fucking time Jose Reyes gets on base!!!!!Not only in-game mismanagement, but now you bring up a 21 year old corner OF and are going to basically use him as a bench player in favor of a dude hitting less than his weight in the second half instead of getting him a very valuable 100+ more ABs in AAA! Kudos Omar and Jerry. Kudos.

I very rarely root for the Mets and this past weekend was one of the those times. Once again the Mets disappointed. I AM DISAPPOINT.
8/9/2010 1:27:16 PM
weeks like those make me OK with the fact I traded Wright to NyMsweet August, bro! 2-26 makes you like the 2nd best hitter in that lineup!
8/9/2010 1:56:48 PM
http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/mets/agent_says_francoeur_would_welcome_KpApQuGyo6INMHjYnv7dROHilarious. Dude has a .677 OPS. He's lucky he's even on a 25-man roster, let alone playing daily. I can only take so much talk about how "good a guy he is" when he plays like a poor mans Rey Ordonez out of a corner OF position.Fernando Martinez looked great last night against Jimenez. I'll say it again. Axe Frenchy and play Martinez EVERY DAMN DAY the rest of the year.
8/11/2010 11:06:23 AM
Yeah Franceour is disease to a team's offense. His complete lack of plate discipline is amazing. He belongs on the Seattle Mariners.

Mets blew it tonight. Niese pitched well for 7 innings. Giving up one run. Pagan homered, driving in Reyes in the first. Then Takahashi comes in in the 8th. Has 2 outs with runners on first and second. We bring in Acosta and he gives up a grand slam and another run. We lose 6-2. We continue to find new, inventive, heart wrenching ways to lose.
8/11/2010 10:04:21 PM
This has been somewhat of a breakthrough year for our younger starters...if it wasn't for the shit we call a bullpen and the offense never returning from the mid summer break, we'd be competitive with anybody
8/11/2010 10:20:03 PM
^ Yep, definitely encouraged by Niese and Pelfrey (despite his mid season struggles). Obviously, Dickey has been a surprise and I hope we re-sign him. 35 isn't too old for a knuckleballer. Santana has shown, at times, that he can still be the same Cy Young winner that he was in Minnesota. The bullpen is awful. K-Rod has had is act together recently, but he's been shaky at best most the season. I'm ready for the offseason. I'm hope we'll see some revamping of the bullpen and shake up things in the lineup (Castillo, Francoeur, possibly Beltran)
8/11/2010 10:56:02 PM
Beltran's contract is up, right? It would not surprise me if they let him walk. With Pagan and the up-and-comers, we don't need that kind of payroll for the outfield...especially with how much Bay is getting paid
8/11/2010 11:15:03 PM
no he is under contract thru next season
8/11/2010 11:21:55 PM
probably should try to trade him to a contender in the offseason anyways.. get prospects and rebuild til you can field a decent team
8/11/2010 11:24:40 PM
he needs to perform well enough the rest of this season to make a contender want him

8/12/2010 12:12:15 AM
^^Why do I feel like this is a common theme for Mets players? Didn't that happen with someone else in recent years? I want to say it was Paul LoDuca[Edited on August 12, 2010 at 12:13 AM. Reason : ^]
8/12/2010 12:12:51 AM
LOL @ K-Rod
8/12/2010 7:28:15 AM
LOL @ the Mets as a whole.I am surprised how quickly they folded up this season. They are wasting Reyes and Wright's best years.
8/12/2010 8:01:15 AM
K-Rod...great. Maybe he was just pissed that Jerry didn't go to him in the 8th with 2 outs and 2 on.
8/12/2010 9:35:17 AM
Nah, LoDuca just cheated on his hot fake titted Playboy wife with some 18 year old in Philly.K-Rod should have assaulted Jerry Manuel outside the clubhouse. Same punishment and better outcome for me.^^ Wright is OPSing ~.200 in August. They aren't wasting anything of his this month. He and Beltran are the biggest reasons the offense is balls right now.
8/12/2010 9:38:36 AM
Mets get the W today. 4-0 over Rockies. Santana goes the distance, gives up 4 hits and 10 Ks. Wow, not bad at all. Pagan had an RBI singleBeltran had a sac flyReyes had an RBI singleF-Mart had a sac flyReyes was 2-4 with 2 SBs, Beltran went 3-3 with a double and an RBI, Santana went 1-3.BTW, that was F-Mart's first RBI since being called up.
8/12/2010 2:39:24 PM
Even though that was his first RBI, he has looked much better already this go around. He doesn't look overmatched. Working counts and hitting some balls hard. It seems like we've been hearing his name for as long as we have Wright and Reyes so it's easy to forget he's still just 21, the age college players are the year before they enter the draft.I'm not a huge fan of Thole or of Tejada but I guess the thinking is to give them as much of a chance as possible to be regulars starting in 2011... though I suspect both will eventually be backup role players over the long haul.I think it's safe to say we can count on Johan next year to anchor the staff still after all the talk about his "regression" in May and June.By far the most frustrating part of this season is just how close we have been to being legit contenders. So many 1-run losses on the road and so many low scoring games. Never would have thought the starting pitching would actually be the best part of the team.[Edited on August 12, 2010 at 5:25 PM. ^15-22 in 1-run games
8/12/2010 7:22:32 PM
I don't know much about Thole. But Tejada seems to be a good fielder and a smart player. But he just isn't a hitter. But I think, unless we're stupid enough to keep Castillo around, he'll probably be starting next year.[Edited on August 12, 2010 at 8:14 PM. Reason : edit]

Lots of money coming off the books after next seasonCastillo, K-Rod, Beltran, Perez, ReyesChance to really reinvent the team at that pointAnd yes, I'm looking that far ahead
8/17/2010 9:28:18 AM
K-Rod needs to appear in 55 games next year for his contract to automatically vest if I'm not mistaken. $17.5 fucking million, too.
8/17/2010 9:29:56 AM
Pretty easy to avoid, even if he's healthy and effective.Only bring him in in save situations, and not the bullshit "getting him some work" appearances Jerry likes to use him for now[Edited on August 17, 2010 at 9:32 AM. Reason : x]
8/17/2010 9:32:29 AM
Wow $17.5 million for a closer. That is fucking ridiculous.
8/17/2010 9:43:16 AM
8/17/2010 7:30:04 PM
^Agreed as well. Castillo and Perez should not be back next year. Beltran is iffy, IMO. But no way Reyes goes any where
8/18/2010 11:40:27 AM
Never said he was going anywhere, said he came off the booksNot sure he's an $11 million dollar player anymore
8/18/2010 11:42:37 AM
Comical. I really thought tonight was the night we were going to win our first road series against a NL team... still can, but I doubt we will. Also, looking at what shortstops make in free agency, I would say Reyes is easily worth about $12M a year if he can stay healthy...
8/18/2010 11:02:08 PM

8/18/2010 11:11:40 PM
Oh for the love of christ, it IS a four game series. We're never going to win a road series against a NL team I was all ready to post my Do You Believe in Miracles? picture.
8/19/2010 9:00:13 AM
Reyes, when healthy, is a huge asset to the team. He's been heating up the past 2 weeks. Hitting .347 with 2 triples, 1 Hr, and 5 steals. But, he must stay healthy. He hasn't done that too often throughout his career. Tied at 0 in the bottom 3.Pat Misch on the hill tonight.
