^^^ damn, beat me to itthis is pretty funny:

it probably won't be a big deal, but there'll be more to work out.Walker, Alberts, Ward and Kostopoulos have all had disagreements with each other at some point haven't they? (At least one with another in the group I mean... that would be pretty funny if each guy had fought all the other guys)

I guess they did want to get out-recycled by the Devils. . .
7/24/2009 12:36:08 PM
hell yeah I've always liked Aaron Ward. Just don't go and try beatin Walker's ass...we all know how that went last time
7/24/2009 1:26:44 PM
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Aaron Ward is headed back to the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes reacquired the rugged defenceman from the Boston Bruins on Friday for forward Patrick Eaves and a fourth-round draft pick next year.
NO WAI
7/24/2009 1:41:10 PM
They got Ward and rid of Eves. That's so awesome. Two problem fixed there.[Edited on July 24, 2009 at 1:53 PM. Reason : ]
7/24/2009 1:52:26 PM
^ no kidding. eaves gave me headaches last season
7/24/2009 2:21:44 PM
I am so glad we got rid of eaves and even happier to get Ward back
7/24/2009 2:41:18 PM
why did the bruins do this? salary cap issues? they had spots open on their disabled list?
7/24/2009 2:42:40 PM
I think I read somewhere to keep everyone they were gonna have to dump some salary.

Patrick Eaves was placed on waivers with the intention of being bought out.

I am a fan of this trade. I am also a fan of people who will hit, whether it's Ward/Ruutu/whoever's not Joe Vasicek.

^^^ I'm assuming it fits then? If so, hellz yes.
7/25/2009 3:46:50 AM
I am pretty damn pumped about our team this year. This is the most pleased I have ever been by JR in the offseason.
7/25/2009 12:02:04 PM
pimp hand
7/25/2009 12:15:04 PM
beyond the 2nd line, our offense still doesn't scare anybody. Rod Brindamour is a shell of his old self.
7/25/2009 12:35:51 PM
^4yeah, it fits just finei was afraid it was going to be ridiculously tight/short, but it isn't
7/25/2009 12:53:54 PM
^^ tell that to the Devils and Bruins?and yeah, roddy had a really bad year last year, but he could bounce back. we shall see.[Edited on July 25, 2009 at 1:36 PM. Reason : .]
7/25/2009 1:36:34 PM
Rod Brind'Amour will be playing on the third line, or the fourth if he is bad again. I would hardly say our season hinges very much on his performance, although it would be huge if he had a renaissance.
7/25/2009 1:43:14 PM
LaRose said he was working out with Brindy this summer, and that it was pretty intense. Plus he doesn't have a wife to worry about now, which will probably result in more time at the gym he knows he had a bad year last year and he's got a lot to prove this year if he wants to stay where he is
7/25/2009 1:47:24 PM
he hasn't had a wife for years
7/25/2009 1:49:31 PM
So who thinks we are in the market for one more signing? By the looks of it Sutter is going to (hopefully) spend as much time as possible in the AHL. I wouldn't be surprised if we spend $1.5 million or so on a good 4th line center who can kill some penalties. Some speculation about that over at HF Boards. One guy mentioned Mike Peca, who I have coveted for sometime. Imagine a lineup of this:Ruutu - Staal - ColeWhitney - Cullen - LaRoseSamsonov - Brind'Amour - JokinenKostopoulus - Peca - WalkerConboyPitkanen - WardCorvo - GleasonAlberts - CarsonWallinWardLeightonThat could be had for about $51.75 million in actual spending, with a $55.75 million cap hit (still leaving some flexibility).
7/25/2009 5:09:32 PM
I've never been a huge fan of Peca, i'd much rather go with Sutter. Higher ceiling and more affordable.
7/25/2009 5:21:53 PM
I think it would be a bad idea to rush Sutter. Would love for him to have a year in the AHL with Boychuk, Bowman, etc. He still isn't that big, either.
7/25/2009 5:48:10 PM
Agree with Vulcan on the issue.I think Peca would be awesome.
7/25/2009 5:50:15 PM
Peca 4 years ago would be good, Peca now.... We don't need to be another team thinking he is going to have a revelation in hockey.
7/26/2009 12:38:05 PM
I'm not sure what kind of "revelation" anyone needs to have to play 8 minutes a game on the 4th line and the penalty kill
7/26/2009 12:52:38 PM

BOUGHT OUT??!??!BY THE CANES??!?!??!
7/28/2009 2:49:30 PM
We're going to be much tougher to play against this year. What I hope happens on D this year is that since we have big strong guys (Ward, Gleason, Alberts) that the more offensive minded Pitkanen and Corvo can push the tempo more knowing they've got someone more reliable than Babs or Kaberle (when he wasn't in the press box) backing them up.
7/28/2009 3:26:39 PM
I am just hoping and praying that they let somebody like Brett Carson make the team and play on the 3rd pairing with Alberts instead of Wallin.[Edited on July 28, 2009 at 3:47 PM. Reason : .]
7/28/2009 3:46:50 PM
yeaaa.... I'm not a big Wallin fan either.
7/28/2009 3:55:11 PM
I don't mind Wallin so much, but him and Alberts together is a potential disaster when it comes to moving the puck out of our own zone.
7/28/2009 4:03:10 PM
I, too, am hoping for Carson to make the team at some point. It would be easy to turn my BABCHUK 33 jersey into a CARSON 33, if he sticks with 33.
7/28/2009 4:06:17 PM
I think Wallin is going to be pretty set on the 3rd pair, and with his contract expiring after this season 10/11 would be the more likely time to see Carson/Rodney/Borer/McBain coming up and seeing significant minutes. Somebody will get hurt and there won't be a Kaberle in the box to come down and play 3rd pair, one of those kids is going to see plenty of time but Wallin starts there I'm sure.
