10/29/2009 9:28:07 AM
PC's should only be for RTS's anyway
10/29/2009 9:55:53 AM
so will this game have good single player missions?
10/29/2009 11:19:25 AM
I hope they have another ghillie suit mission and another mission where you're in the AC 130 firing while using the gun cameras
10/29/2009 11:33:16 AM
from what i've read there is basically a mission where you are some sort of terrorist about to commit jihad walking through the streets with a bomb or something. There is leaked footage or the entire mission, but i didnt watch because i wanted some of it to at least be a bit of a suprise

Can we create a dedicated thread for the PC version?Oh wait, they don't do that anymorenvm
10/29/2009 1:59:13 PM
I, too, remember when I wasn't coordinated enough to play FPSes on consoles
10/29/2009 2:03:09 PM

Why don't you list your gamer tag so we can have some of your console suckness?
10/29/2009 3:15:32 PM
Anyone can play with a mouse and keyboardIt takes skill to master shooters with a controllerYou sound like a fatass on your Hoveround scoffing at all the suckers who actually walk
10/29/2009 3:24:54 PM
lol haters without $200 - hate on...
10/29/2009 3:28:43 PM
Technically aren't you the hater without $200?
10/29/2009 3:33:51 PM
^^ less trolling would be nice.seriously though, how long did you give the controller a chance? it took me several days to get in the groove of it, so maybe you just need to play a little more.

If you had the option to play a racing game with a wheel, pedals, and shifter, you might prefer that option to the controller. If you had the option to play a fighting game with a joystick, you might prefer that option as well. Same principle applies to mouse and keyboard over controller based solely on preference. More choices are always better.
10/30/2009 3:15:34 PM
You'd rather play a racing game with a wheel and pedals because its more realisticYou don't actually shoot a gun by clicking a mouse, so that logic doesn't apply hereNow, if we had some Duck Hunt shit going on here, it would be a different story
10/30/2009 3:42:12 PM
^^ I'm sure Ryan Howard's preference would be to hit the ball off of a tee. But it drastically takes away from the skill involved.KB/mouse = tee ball
10/30/2009 3:52:15 PM
Perhaps, but consider a game with a potential control scheme just like what you mentioned: Resident Evil 4. Using it as an example because it has 3 versions which each have a different control scheme (GameCube = control pad, Wii = motion sensing controller, and PC = mouse and keyboard), I'd choose the PC mouse and keyboard version because it is more responsive and accurate than even the Wii version. I went and bought myself an excellent Wii gun controller hoping that it'd mean I'd be able to point and shoot, which I know I do fairly well with a real gun. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way since the gun isn't dead-down-the-sights accurate. I'm not looking for realism so much as I am the ability to have the game do what I want for it to do when I want for it to. Thus far, the mouse and keyboard is providing me with that ability in ways that I can't get out of the control pad, and I've been using both for probably longer than most involved in this conversation. I fully acknowledge that I probably don't have as much fine motor control or as much skill as other players, and I admit that I can readily get thrashed by people using control pads. I'm not out to use the keyboard and mouse to "pwn n00bs" either. I just want to be able to play competently - win or lose - using a control scheme which I prefer.
10/30/2009 3:57:54 PM
I like playing FPS's with a keyboard and mouseIts like I'm playing a video game, but at the same time, I can enjoy the same posture and position as I do while I'm at work when I'm entering invoices or exporting InDesign documents to PDF and eblasting them. After all, who the fuck would want to lounge on a couch with a wireless controller when they could instead sit upright at a desk???
10/30/2009 3:59:49 PM
^^^ Interesting point, but I'd be surprised if you could hit them out of the park when on the tee in the same way you can when they are pitched. It's likely a tradeoff, but I'm happy to make it.[Edited on October 30, 2009 at 4:02 PM. Reason : ^]

Just like you started out on the keyboard and mouse and sucked...you will start out the same with a controller. No one expects to get it over night. Hell even with the keyboard and mouse no matter how good you are now it took a while to get used to it, adjust sensitivities etc...I was awful with a controller and hated every minute of it since I was such a big PC gamer...but then after a while I was more fond of the whole console experience then I ever was with a PC and I became just as accurate and lethal with a controller. Although I still suck terribly with the PS3 controller...hahaconsider this...people still have a hard time using a mouse to stay hovered over a drop down without it closing on them.
10/30/2009 4:22:26 PM
I jump around when I play... it's like I am a 6 year old kid that can't sit still on the couch. No way that a mouse & kb would even be an option. I check for news on this game everyday... no really good stuff lately Nov 10th can't get here fast enough. I wonder what the odds are for me playing the game first or playing with the night vision goggles first.

10/31/2009 2:17:26 PM
Why not play the game at night with your goggles on?
10/31/2009 3:49:45 PM
they need to just go ahead and let PCers play the kids with the consoles, in the same game
10/31/2009 10:29:32 PM
^that would be awesome, but technologically difficult
10/31/2009 10:44:31 PM
^^, ^ i'd say make it an option to play cross-platform. you want gameplay that isn't optional to be as even as possible (same hardware, same controls, etc). however, i think it'd be cool as crap if i really didn't care that someone might have an inherent advantage, but i just really wanted to play multiplayer with cross-platform friends and had that choice. i'm actually facing the issue with mw2. my roommate has a ps3, one of my best friends has a 360 and another only has a pc for gaming. if i could play with all of them, by choice, at the same time, that would be awesome.
11/1/2009 12:20:45 AM
They did it with Shadowrun
11/1/2009 12:25:22 AM
I remember a while back the dudes who made Burnout Paradise said that enabling cross-platform multiplayer would be trivial, but that the "platform holders" were against it.
11/1/2009 8:06:21 AM
server-side it really shouldn't be very difficult, with the technology and features of consoles starting to converge so closely to PCs, the individual players data being communicated is essentially the same: IP address, player locations, shots fired, all that, the platform differences are all handled on the local hardwarebut Microsoft will be damned to have Xbox Live players playing versus PCs or PS3s who aren't paying them for the same subscription and vice versathat could actually be another argument for allowing independent dedicated servers, maybe hacked to allow connections from all three platforms
