Wave is the dog that was at the Cincy game. Wave was named by the breeder/owner. I dont know who owns/owned that dog.

I love people names for dogs...although I don't think I like Eric and Steve that much.

"Punt: Hungry Like the … Tamaskan?

Over the past decade N.C. State has poured millions into renovating Carter-Finley Stadium and re-establishing roots with its Roman Gabriel/Lou Holtz-led football past.

Last spring the school's student government made a formal request that it believed would reach back even further into old Wolfpack traditions. Some enterprising student had learned that for a brief period of time NCSU cheerleaders had leashed a wolf named "State" and brought him on the sidelines. Of course, fear ensued, even after it was discovered, embarrassingly, that State was actually a coyote.

With the cooperation of the university's world-famous veterinary school, the perfect animal was found. And so it was that on Thursday night I got to pet Tuffy, who is not an actual wolf but a Tamaskan, a Finnish dog bred to look like a wolf. He's the third live mascot in the ACC, joining Ramses the Ram in Chapel Hill and Margo the Eagle at Boston College.

Though some have complained that Tuffy doesn't look intimidating enough (he wagged his tail genially through most of Thursday's game), everyone does agree that having a real wolf on the sideline was never a great idea.

Then again, they could have tried to lure back NC State alum Zach Galifianakis who, as we all know, considers himself a one-man wolfpack.

But I thought the person dressed as Osceola was required to be an actual member of the Seminole tribe?

Also, the term "Hokie" comes from an actual breed of turkey developed at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Lol at the idea of live sidelines mascots for Georgia Tech, Wake, and especially Miami. They'd never play a game at Miami ever again!

Boise State has a dog that runs onto the field and retrieves the tee used in kickoffs, after the kickoff play is over. Perhaps we should train our Tamaskan (sp?) to do the same!

We should teach the dog to punt and we might just have a suitable replacement for Jeff.

This is 100% false. The term comes from some dumb cheer and actually doesn't mean anything. They were called the Gobblers for a long time, but Bill Dooley hated it so he changed it back to Hokies. Hokie doesn't mean turkey, all it actually means isa goddamn VT fan.

It would be like if we just started calling NC State the farkadoodles instead of wolfpack. That doesn't make farkadoodle mean a group of wolves

[Edited on July 15, 2021 at 12:30 AM. Reason : Here we go farkadoodles here we go]

It clearly states that it is a cat that looks like a wolf. Learn to read.
