Perhaps I should say that our TWC bill (for Digital Cable Tier 2 or 3, 2 movie channels, DVR box, one room, plus internet) was $185/mo. We are now paying $165/mo for all that I mentioned a few posts back.

U-verse is a good deal if you're already a subscriber to all the premium channels, the DVR, the HD stuff, yada yada. If you've currently got a Bare Bones TWC account, then it's not gonna be a good move for you.

Yeah kinda. I've never paid full price, I always call up when the promo is over and threaten to leave. They'll usually cave and give you some kind of price break. Last year it was 6Mb for $30. This time they dropped it to $40 without me asking and then I called up and complained anyway, so they bumped me up to 10Mb service for a year for free.

U-Verse sent me a $200 check this week for signing up. I would have preferred they just knock it off the bill, but whatever. It's still $200 I didn't have before.

The only thing I can honestly say about TWC is that if you hate them and call up to complain, they usually will hack your rate down some percent. I had a friend who got her bill dropped from roughly $120 to $75 for using the whole "I'm a broke student" line.

How much space do the DVR's have? I only ask because I have over 100 recorded shows/movies almost all are in HD and are 1 hour or longer each. None of them have been deleted and every single one still plays. I thought this thing is only supposed to hold ~24hours of HD?

absolutely satisfied, 100x better than TWC ever could have been, and we're saving money too.

^^^I've read some articles online where people have taken the boxes apart and put their own hard drives in them. I've also read that people have put hard drives in the non-DVR boxes, but people were recommending against it.

Yes, savings... If you factor in the $250 cash back it is a major savings, temporarily.

I've been wondering the same thing in my neighborhood. Although I guess they're "zip code" search only covers parts of the zip code.

^^ doubt it. Otherwise they could mandate all the utility co's on how to present their boxes, make them bury their lines, etc.

ATT should have a liason that we can go petition for immediate access to their service.

Talk about a rebate? F that. I would pay THEM a rebate if they'd let me buy their crap!

If you would stop comparing AT&T's rate to the introductory TWC rate, you'd realize how much cheaper AT&T is. This was already explained to you earlier in this thread.

Question!

Does anyone know what the usual taxes are on their U-Verse Bill's? (U200 + 6mbps, or $117) My household is currently in a bidding war with TWC and need info! Thanks!

I may have posted this earlier in the thread, but AT&T put a VRAD right outside of my neighborhood...and I still can't get it. Because I am at the exact opposite corner of the 'hood from where the box is, the VRAD sees an impedance equal to around 4500 ft and the VRAD will only push up to like 3000 or something (note, I don't remember what the exact numbers are supposed to be, but I'm too far away by like 800 ft or so). The tech I spoke to about it said they were working on something that would extend the distance an additional 80% or so, but she had no idea when or if they'd roll that out.

So, if your neighbors in your hood can get it, that doesn't necessarily mean you can.

^^I'm paying $9 a month in taxes for U400 on two boxes plus 6mb/s internet. I'm not sure how that would adjust down.

anyone know how to manually program the Uverse remote or do remote matching? And I don't mean manual typing in a code - none of the work right.

I want the uverse remote to be able to change the mode on my receiver so I can switch it to TV it the receivers not on TV (I don't care for full function of the receiver).

I've already got everying synced for power & volume.

I haven't figured out how to do that either. Everything seems to work well with the U-Verse remote except for my receiver. The remote works everything on my TV, which is something the TWC remotes didn't do.

Went into the AT&T store this afternoon begging for information regarding Uverse installs. The tech *claims* that they installed most of the equipment up Jones Franklin but are just awaiting an OK from corporate to turn them on. He continued on to say that there are FCC requirement to enable this service.

This tech lives at the Crossroads apartments, across the street he said that the Marquis still does not have access BUT that Ashborough does (verified online).

Looks like service is slowly being flipped on north of Dillard on Jones Franklin in Raleigh/Cary, I see AT&T trucks around every morning now. When I asked the techs what they were doing, they said they didn't have a timetable on getting Uverse in my complex (Wildwoods of Lake Johnson).

18Mbps DL for $65+Tax ( ~ same as what I pay TWC for 10Mbps), I can't wait!

Just checked this morning, and the U-verse site claims that U-verse is now available at my address, right off of Kaplan Drive near Gorman St.

Haven't gotten any promo material in the mail yet, I'm going to wait a few days and see if they offer any sweeter deals. The online rebate special is $200 cash for switching. Some friends of mine who got U-verse downtown about 6 months ago got $300 for switching, but beggars can't be choosers

the boxes we have in our area don't support this - they actually are physically different from the DVR boxes and don't have an IDE interface.

I got $250 cashback from AT&T (the extra 50 comes around every two weeks or so). And I got an extra $65 buy using FatWallet to click-through. So $315 total cashback.

we are supposed to have free HD for a year, but got charged and we were supposed to have free HBO, but haven't seen that yet

Waiting on my roomie (not here for the summer) who opened the account, to tell AT&T to let me handle the account business...

finally got my roomie to add me as an authorized user for the uverse account. apparently he tried to get our problems taken care of but they stone walled him.

I called in and within 10 minutes the guy had taken two months of HD charges off and made sure we wouldn't be charged again for the next year, gave us 2 months of free HBO, and the tech person fixed our TV freezing problems. TWC must have warned them about me
