yeah, cross-eyed and gap-toothed is not a good look, generally.
now, if she keeps her mouth closed and you keep her in profile (like ^^)? yeah, pretty good

Love the credit music after the final scene

I am guessing that was Marshville's own Randy Travis

haha a few thoughts on the first episode.

first, that sex scene was hot and erotic, and kinda creepy with the blood...but still hot

second, that fucking kill scene in the dungeon was really scary.

third, Randy fucking Travis.

I want to like this show so much but the Southern accents are so fucking horrible that I don't think I can keep watching, especially the black chick. It's like nails on a chalkboard.

"I know a lot of people (including me) were complaining about the black girl's apparently horrible southern accent (and other bad accents, but hers in particular).

But I'm in NW Florida now, outside of Pensacola, pretty near Louisiana. It is redneck central down here - worse than anything I've ever seen in North Carolina. I went to Walmart today and the checkout lady was a black girl named Takilia, and no shit, she sounded exactly like the girl on the show. It was weird. Maybe there is a local black dialect around here that the actress was coached on."

I hate to admit this show is one of my guilty pleasures. My wife read the books and we watched the entire first season this weekend. (we didn't have HBO until I ordered it on Sunday to DVR this season).

I also hate to admit that I have a man crush on Eric.

Haven't seen last night's episode yet, but the finale last season made it appear as though Lafayette was killed off...

Well okay, I read all the books and I must say this first episode is unlike anything I read. I haven't decided whether that is a great surprise or a terrible turn from the great book series. Only time will tell I will suppose.

So a few things... Spoilers from last night

-That sex scene was intense. Hot, yes. But intense. Sookie is one easy broad to make up with.
- I am completely throw by Lafayette in Eric's basement. I get it that Eric is searching for vampire killers but none of those ppl seemed likely and I would think Eric would be smarter than that, unless Jeffrey was one of those red necks who set fire to the house with the vampires and I'm starting to think he was.
-wtf with the hair foils! Alan Ball better not mess with Eric's character, in the books he is by far my favorite!
-I'm liking the addition of Jessica though, excited to see her transition into a vampire.

Yeah, the redneck guy thrown into Eric's basement was one of the tools who set fire to the vampire's trailer. Lafayette is likely down there because of his involvement in the selling of V.

yeah, the sex scene was intense/hot/

response to spoiler alert

or...Layfeyette is down there b/c they think he killed Eddie (the vampire he was getting V from) and not Amy/Jason. either way, I'm glad he's not dead--OH so very very glad!

disco_stu pasted my thoughts from a couple pages ago about the accents. And seriously, after being in NW Florida for several weeks, I am totally on board with the accents in the show now. I can totally understand if the actors studied certain deep-south Louisiana accents, and not the accents we have in NC.

Anyway, great start to the season. All the storylines they picked up on were right-on, and I'm glad they didn't leave any cliffhangers from last season still dangling out there. It was good they cleared up the questions from last season, then got on with everything and kept all the plots moving.

Actually one of my favorite parts of the show as Jessica. They showed that her character is going to be a little more complex than just a bratty vamplette that's going to get Bill into trouble. I was surprised.

And my wife and I LOL'd at Eric's hair foils for good while.

I just want to know what it is they're turning with those poles.

I started watching this Monday and pretty much watched the entire series thus far this week. I didn't expect to like it, but I really like it now. It combines the elements of the dirty south that I find fun with vampires that are more what I expect from vampires. I think Twilight turned me off from the genre (b/c that film was awful and I won't read the books) but this has me back, and that's as a guy whose previous favorite vampire related things were Buffy, Ann Rice, and The Lost Boys.

The Twilight vampires are such a departure from traditional vampires that I don't think you can even call them vampires. The glitter like girls in the sun for christ's sake! Honestly, I have the same problem with Buffy's portrayal of vampires. They're supposed to be predators and humans should be effectively helpless against them. In buffy, I saw someone pickup a goddammned pencil and destroy a vampire. I wouldn't have been surprised if one was staked by a toothpick.

No more mentioning Twilight in this thread. I want the hour and a half of my life back from watching that emo shit.

^I agree. I have never given that show or book a looksy and I don't intend to. I know I've been repping these Sookie Stackhouse books already but if you want a good book series they are (I think) 2x as good as the show and don't seem to drop much spoilers.

^^Andy comes from a once prosperous Bon Temps family that now has very little. He wanted to prove himself last season with that murder investigation, but he blew it. So now he is depressed and boozing. It is great seeing that actor playing a total reversal from his The Wire character, always makes me laugh.

So season two looks pretty good.

I'm guessing when Eric gets to Lafayette, Lafayette will point him to Jason since he knew that Jason had something to do with Eddie's disappearance. Eric will go to Bill demanding Sookie, or he will kill Jason.

And Eric coming downstairs in the middle of getting his hair highlighted was hysterical.

There's no way they're killing off Jason. He's too big of a character. I'm guessing Lafayette will beg to be spared, and that he'll become Eric's newest bitch vampire.

Just because he threatens to kill Jason, doesn't mean it'll actually happen in the show... it would still be a good way to manipulate bill and sookie

Fabulous episode! I lost track of time (which I love) and was totally bummed when it went to credits.

And I think the turning thing in the basement is just a torture type thing and not actually operating anything...

I loved the previews for next week's episode. Looks like Jason starts to fall for the minister's wife. This is gonna be good!

And I totally love that Lafayette is gonna be a vampire.

And I like how Sam is scared to death of that crazy lady that Tara is staying with. Can't wait to see where they go with that whole thing.

i couldn't tell if they were turning lafeyette or just killing him. i figured they were probably turning him since he's a bigger character and all, but it wasn't exactly clear about that.

if you read the article i posted a few posts back ^^^ you'll see what lafayette said about his charcter dying (or not dying). he says he's gonna be around for season 3, so that more than likely means he's getting turned.

Oh shit, I forgot about that! That whole "Angry Bill" thing was fucking awesome.

Oh yeah, and for the first time in the whole series, I had to cover my eyes and not watch...when Lafayette was pulling the pin out of homeboy's leg.

Last night's ep was great, this season seems to be unfolding nicely so far. That Jason Stackhouse is hilarious, the whole Fellowship of the Sun plot is hilarious.

I too am enjoying seeing Bill with some balls, Sookie always gets away with mad dumb mistakes and its good he finally is getting pissed but I don't want to spend every ep watching them fight so I'm hoping for a break between the two of them or something.

In the past two ep's I think we have seen more of Eric's character than all of last season so for that I am incredibly grateful to Alan Ball and hope to see more and more of him... yummmm. Oh, I love the new hairdo

So, why does Bill have to kill Jessica's entire family? Some odd vampire rule I forgot about or just to cover up the fact that she was killed/turned by vampires?

Ya know I'm not certain why Bill was so mad to be honest. Who cares if she goes back to her parents and says she's a vampire? I don't get what the super crazy secret is, given that vampires are assimillating (sp?) into the community more now anyways. They're being accepted (sorta) by society so it really shouldn't matter. I'm guessing we'll get explanation in the next episode.

I mean yeah, vampires are starting to be accepted by human society, but that doesn't mean its ok for them to kidnap and turn humans whenever they want. Jessica wasn't exactly a willing participant. I think if the news got out that a 16 year old girl was arbitrarily kidnapped and killed by vampires, it wouldn't exactly help their cause

n/m the whole Lafayette thing from earlier. eh, it's not really a spoiler. but sorry, i didn't think the 3 vamps attacking him at the end even suggested they were killing him, especially since he'd just asked to become a vamp.

my apologies
