Why does Defoe get no love? I realize that he and Rooney dont exactly have the best matching skill sets but theyre by far Englands best two strikers. Heskey, Crouch, Gabby, etc...all good but I dont think any of them are as explosive, tricky or well rounded as Defoe. Hes looked greats at White Hart Lane so far. Also, Fabio, please play ashley young on the left and theo on the right.
1/29/2009 10:41:46 PM
Defoe needs Peter Crouch to be good.Defoe's nowhere near the skill level of Rooney, either.
1/29/2009 10:47:08 PM
ashley young needs to start for england, he's way too good
1/30/2009 1:17:10 AM
I wasnt saying that Defoe was better than Rooney at all. Just that Defoe was the best second option even though hes not the target forward that rooney can play support. My england team: JamesG. Johnson Ferdaturd Terry ColeWalcott ( Lampard, Barry, Gerrard) A. Young Defoe RooneyWith 'first subs' being: whichever midfielder didnt start of the 3 CM, J.Cole (when his knee works), Crouch (intl teams have trouble with his height, this is not based solely on skill)--Im really high on glen johnson, i think he is equal to about 5 wes browns--Beckhams time is done I think, England need to start worrying about 2010...get whoever you want on the right for '10 out there now...its fine if he gets some caps through substitutions. But Id like to see more J.Cole, Walcott, Lennon, SWP whoever--I think that Downing should back up Young on the LM and that Fabio needs to stop putting people out of position over there unless you just need as much talent on the field as possible vs. a Spain, etc--Im a big Liverpool koolaid drinker but Id like to see Gerrard and Barry--Just because defoe is so much better than the target options, I say put the two strikers out there and let them get used to one another--It would be interesting to see more Jagielka, Lescott, Upson, Micah

Another day, another United win with a clean sheet
1/31/2009 2:32:01 PM
I'm guessing Hibernian will be showing matches on Sunday, but I just called and confirmed that Tobacco Road Sports Cafe will definitely be showing Liverpool/Chelsea. Let's see how Benitez manages to fuck this one up.
1/31/2009 3:42:02 PM
Damn Manure just keeps playing lights out. I don't see anybody catching them in the EPL unless VDS gets injured.
1/31/2009 4:01:54 PM
^^ and then manages to blame someone else for his failure
1/31/2009 5:58:58 PM
I hope Benetiz will be shut up hard tomorrow.
1/31/2009 6:19:07 PM
LP v Chelsea in about an hour.
2/1/2009 9:53:28 AM
Wow, what a terrible red card on Lampard...
2/1/2009 12:22:22 PM
Horrible
2/1/2009 12:25:35 PM
wow, we needed that... it was an absolutely bullshit red card, but I'm not complaining[Edited on February 1, 2009 at 1:00 PM. Reason : /]
2/1/2009 12:56:13 PM
Congrats Liverpool you can thank the ref for that one. Bullshit. Scolari should rip that ref a new one.Mike Riley you can rot in hell you fucking wanker.[Edited on February 1, 2009 at 1:03 PM. Reason : .]
2/1/2009 1:03:04 PM
Even without the red card, I don't know that Chelsea would've stopped those two goals.Their defending at the back has become woeful.Other news:Fulham is in talks with Brian McBride about returningJozy Altidore was loaned to the Spanish Second division leading side XerezJo is going to Everton on loanI'm almost willing to put money on Arshavin not going to ARSELOLand Sasha Kljestr;rkporkgpero is too expensive for Celtic's tastes[Edited on February 1, 2009 at 2:07 PM. Reason : .]
2/1/2009 1:59:55 PM
Yeah, Liverpool definitely looked the more promising side up until the red cardOf course, the card changed the whole style of the game, and it's impossible to say what would've happened...but I would've bet on a Liverpool win over a Chelsea winIncidentally, this is why I always tout Benayoun...he did more in 15-20 minutes than a lot of players did all game. And that was not an easy header from Torres, either...well done, kid. [Edited on February 1, 2009 at 2:25 PM. Reason : /]
2/1/2009 2:15:58 PM
Liverpool deserved to win that match. They dominated possession, attempts on target, corners, pretty much everything. The red card was bullshit, but so was the yellow on Gerrard for "diving" when he should have gotten a free kick on the edge of the box and so were the two no-calls on penalties. Even with Lampard, I think Chelsea still lose the match.Glad to see Babel and Benayoun getting time. Would love to see Babel start some matches; I don't want him leaving like Crouch.
2/2/2009 2:11:41 AM
Keane sent back to Spurs.
2/2/2009 12:00:35 PM
Reported that Arshavin to Arsenal was all but signed, then it broke down, then it was back on again, then it was all but done and the paperwork going to the FA, now it has broken down again?@!@?!@!??!CMON.
2/2/2009 12:41:44 PM
I think you left out a couple of "was on, then it wasn't, but then it was" steps in the middle there.
2/2/2009 1:15:10 PM
2/2/2009 2:10:52 PM
didnt you guys just have and get rid of a very similar player to arshavin? i think his name was hleb
2/2/2009 4:20:06 PM
[No]And Hleb got rid of himself.(he did wear #13 though)
2/2/2009 4:30:13 PM
i hope arshavin isnt looking to get paid a lot....
2/2/2009 5:15:12 PM
i hope chelsea doesn't think that quaresma is gonna help there team out at all, the guy was sucking ass at inter
2/2/2009 5:30:57 PM
a really really poor man's c. ronaldo...yeah i dont understand this move at all. its not like they dont have any wingers there already...if anything they need to do something with both their fullbacks...ashley cole makes a costly mistake every single game lately and bosingwa doesnt know the meaning of closing down crosses on the outsidei am so glad man utd lost the fight in purchasing bosingwa to chelski.
2/2/2009 5:42:15 PM
for some reason I was under the impression Malouda was on his way out? or did I just make that up?
2/2/2009 10:03:15 PM
Juventus wanted him on loan
2/2/2009 10:37:36 PM
--Im pretty pissed Arshavin was transferred, he really showed some turd tendencies this transfer window (as well as over the summer). Seems like a total attention whore. Also, he will have a pretty big wage cut? I heard he was making 100+ (pounds) a week over there. --Queresma went to Chelsea, that also pisses me off. How many midfielders can they have on one team? --Liverpool signed no one...sort of a disappointment. Torres has been out twice this year, it may happen again. We have Kuyt, N'gog, Babel, and ? I think we needed another genuine striker. Id love to see Babel get time up top and Yossi on the right/left more. Babel seems more suited for a striking role and we need some depth. N'gog needs a lot more time and Kuyt cant support a title run. --I feel bad for Tony Adams and Portsmouth--Becks for 14 million? Hes in their CL squad? I think itll happen
2/3/2009 12:53:21 AM
2/3/2009 9:09:01 AM
Hopefully after all of this transfer saga business that's been dragging on for years, he doesn't bust out like the last few "high-profile" exports from that region.]
2/3/2009 11:34:31 AM
well its finally official. can he even play CL matches for arsenlol? i have no idea if hes cup tied or not
2/3/2009 12:05:54 PM
LOL @ fake Thai Arshavin jerseys already being on Ebay with the wrong number
2/3/2009 12:11:46 PM
so hes obv gonna fill the role left by the fabregas injury...but when fab is back, where is arshavin going to play now that they have cesc, him, and nasri all who play the same position??
2/3/2009 12:19:56 PM
It's Arsenal, so you can pretty much guarantee that where always be multiple spots open due to injuries EDIT: And yes, he played in the Champions League with Zenit so he cannot with Arsenal this year[Edited on February 3, 2009 at 12:58 PM. Reason : .]
2/3/2009 12:56:27 PM
Arshavin seems like a huge turd. Starting in the summer he wanted a big club transfer because he was that 'hot' at the time. Then people cooled off a little and he changed his stance from 'no way' to 'please' on Tottenham. He goes on strike, he demands which clubs he plays and doesnt play for. I realize everyone wants to play for a good club and have it under their control, but he just comes off as a spoiled brat who wants nothing more than to play for united (if not, then chelsea. if not, then arsenal. if not, then tottenham. if not, then west brom. etc). Zenit definitely screwed things up with his valuation, they seemed to deserve one another.
2/3/2009 1:47:00 PM
so i read that he hasnt played much in months? is that cause of injury or the fact that he didnt want to play for zenit?
2/3/2009 2:12:37 PM
2/3/2009 2:31:00 PM
well i know you can add and drop players for the next round of CL league play, but i didnt think you could play in a cup if you are already tied to it with another team...im not 100% sure on the rules though
2/3/2009 2:35:48 PM
^ yes that is how I understand itdifferent rosters for different rounds but you cannot add players that are cup tied with another team

"asian" or "european"..or "both" mls!! i guess it gets pretty cold in some parts of russia during the winter[Edited on February 3, 2009 at 2:40 PM. Reason : what is russia considered anyways?]
2/3/2009 2:38:52 PM
i think its considered eastern europe.
2/3/2009 2:53:35 PM
Russia is actually part of Asia and Europe, as dumb as that sounds. Moscow technically is in Asia but the country is both and is usually classified as Eurasia. However, for Olympic purposes it is considered a European sport and was historically considered a European nation but it spread East and eventually weakened to the country it is today. Im assuming UEFA follows the Olympic classification and makes it European, they were in the UEFA cup right?

Gerrard limped off in the 15th minute of the fa cup replay match with everton going on right now...seems to be a hamstring injury, prob bad news for you liverpool fans cause without him you guys would prob be middle of the table this year[Edited on February 4, 2009 at 4:31 PM. Reason : talisman ]everton (osman i think) off the post with great movement and shouldve scored...liverpool lucky for it to be tied 0-0 still after that chance[Edited on February 4, 2009 at 4:46 PM. Reason : slammed off the post]
2/4/2009 4:31:26 PM
lucas get his 2nd yellow card, sent off. liverpool down to 10 men...[Edited on February 4, 2009 at 4:49 PM. Reason : foolish foul, might have been a straight red, i didnt see what the ref pulled]
2/4/2009 4:48:21 PM
im sure benitez will attribute it to a conspiracy against his team by sir alex ferguson or david gill
