It happens in real life, but in real life the girl isn't anything close to the hero they make her out to be in the movies.

Oh yeah, it's happened to me too.

I'm just glad that girls have movies like The Notebook to glorify that and make them feel jutified when they do it.

Actually I just watched 27 Dresses. Cool chick flick.

Maybe that's why my wife hates that I'm still friends with my ex(girlfriend from HS), although I seriously have no interest in her.

Characters having cool old "POS" cars with character (like a 72 Malibu or something).

A real life POS car is a 91 Saturn. If you want to show that someone is broke don't have them drive an old beater that requires pricey maintenance every few weeks and annual transmission overhauls, instead have them drive something that they have to put gas in and change the oil in every 20,000 miles.

I can think of many movies that do this, but Good Will Hunting is a prime example.

^The cliché wouldn't be complete without them talking at some point in the movie causing a "Wow, he said something! He never says anything!" moment.

a huge crowd of villains versus one hero and instead of engaging all at once where they would obviously win, they each attack individually and lose

I hate the one where people are running down a crowded street in a foot chase and while the bad guy has no trouble, but the two other guys consistently run into people, have hot dog carts and fruit stands magically decide to step in their way after a bloody bad guy with two guns runs by.

two bad guys, one is somewhat clever and decides what to do, the other is a complete dumbass and always says/does something stupid that pisses off the other guy.

e.g., Home Alone. Pretty much the basis of pinky and the brain.

then when the people think they've been talking to the authoritative figure, said figure ends up being dead, or someone else is sitting in the chair

I've been doing theater checks on this at work, and every time i do there's some type of cliché.

"I'M SO... COLD"

*look at sky and yell NOOOOOOOOOOO"*

More in the realm of TV shows and commercials than in movies but:

A unintelligent, lazy man coupled with a mean spirited, commanding woman.

Bonus points if the guy is fat and ugly and the woman is attractive.

Over the top dumbed down metaphors, like the end of The Longest Day.

"He's dead. I'm crippled. You're lost. Do you suppose it's always like that? I mean war."
