It's probably because the people who run the Cavs aren't idiots who would disqualify a guy just because of what school he went to. Hickson has way more potential than ced, not the least of which is the ability to look coordinated when he is moving on the floor. In 3-4 years, Hickson will emerge late in the season and the playoffs to provide a big boost to some playoff team.
6/15/2008 9:51:47 PM
If the Cavs take him, he most likely becomes trade bait. This isn't a team that's necessarily looking to develop players--they need a big man and another 1-2 guard who can produce immediately, or otherwise Lebron could be gone to another team and the Cavs are back down in the bottom of the league.

I don't see how he's good enough yet to go pro, but I don't really understand the whole process. And I can't know the future either.I said the same thing about Simmons in the past, and everybody was like, "You don't know what you're talking about. He'll be a solid player. Blah, blah, blah..." And dude ended up in the D-league.I was the only one on here who said that I couldn't see him in the pros yet.Y'all fuckers just need to admit that most of you don't know what you're talking about. I mean, this thread is nine pages? Seriously?Next time you hear some girls blabbing on about some pair of shoes, don't roll your eyes. You guys talk about pointless shit, too, except you don't even acknowledge that you're all talking out your asses.I'm just saying.Oh, and good luck to Hickson...not good luck as a State player (b/c one year doesn't mean shit), but good luck to that guy with skills who played a few good games here at NC State.[Edited on June 15, 2008 at 10:26 PM. ^I don't want a cracker. I mean, I believe I said Simmons wasn't "that good," which is pretty vague and even now could be argued with. It's not like I'm Miss Cleo and you need to call me for a free reading.

signed with an agenthttp://www.newsobserver.com/734/story/1109636.htmlLooks like it'll be a great season...Lowe: After going through several workouts with NBA teams, J.J. received very positive feedback and feels this is a great opportunity for him to be drafted," Lowe said. "He had a great season with us last year, and he will always be a part of our Wolfpack family. We are very happy for him and his family.[Edited on June 16, 2008 at 9:23 AM. next year will be worse then last year. If that's even possible.
6/16/2008 10:18:08 AM
Well now we get to test McCauley/Costner. That was an awesome duo in 2006... with HIckson, sucked. Wonder if they can revert and go back to 2006.Lets hope.
6/16/2008 10:21:40 AM
so what is the latest on Costner transferring?
6/16/2008 10:22:35 AM
i think JJ leaving will be a good thing for the program. The guy was a great player, but it's obvious his presence created chemistry problems.
6/16/2008 10:41:21 AM
best case scenario is that Hickson goes as high as possible in the draft and recruits see that, and Costner and McCauley revert to their 2006/07 form and we at least finish with a winning record. We get a little hype, hopefully get 2 out of 3 of Brown/Wall/Favors (favors would be really nice since we'll have no bigs in '09 besides Costner)......but this is NCSU, best case scenario is not in our vocabulary.

Next year is going to be scary. I think a lot of people are forgetting about one crucial thing. The 3 pt line is being moved back. Now our shooting deficiencies will be even more magnified, especially with Javi and Degand...I hate to say it, but I think we might be looking at a 10 win season, unless McCauley and Costner play even BETTER than they did 2 years ago...

Aim LoweAvoid Dissapointmentthe motto is back!!!
6/16/2008 1:47:46 PM
and actually, i think Tracy Smith will be a pretty good player for us.we're still at least 3 years away from being a contender though (or so i tell myself)
6/16/2008 1:49:20 PM
Tracy Smith should be the main one to benefit from JJ leaving....dude didn't get enough playing time last year. He hustles and has decent footwork inside. Are we even sure Costner will be back?[Edited on June 16, 2008 at 2:32 PM. Reason : ^We aren't contenders until Lowe is gone]
6/16/2008 2:31:42 PM
i will never understand the people who think costner is transferring
6/16/2008 2:33:13 PM
I'm not talking bad about Tracy, i just don't think we're going to win many games if he's our only other option at the 5. Unfortunately, whoever might be another option at the 5 in '09 will be a freshman.

How you guys can blame the chemistry problems on anyone except Sidney Lowe baffles me. Any team should be better off with a player like JJ. Lowe brought in NBA talent and the team got worse. You can't blame the players for that. Why couldn't Sidney Lowe 'Win Total' have left for the NBA and JJ stayed?
6/17/2008 12:30:21 PM
how do you explain the incredible chemistry from 2006 then?
6/17/2008 12:32:21 PM
did you people forget that Gavin was fucking Costner's girlfriendthat was one of the biggest reasons for the team chemistry. the team was divided b/c of this.this has been discussed on several NCSU sports boards
6/17/2008 12:40:41 PM
6/17/2008 12:42:00 PM
^^^ adrenaline. the guys knew they were outnumbered in every matchup.also, as Sun Tsu said: Every battle is won or lost before it is ever fought. -- better conditioning and training on the fundamentals in the preseason helps a lot[Edited on June 17, 2008 at 12:43 PM. Reason : ]

I don't care who was banging whos gf. Bottom line is the coach should get the players heads straight. Most other teams that beat our asses during the season bring in talent and mysteriously get better. We're the opposite.
6/17/2008 1:13:30 PM
One team's name at trivia last night: J.J. Hickson, European Superstar.I laughed.
6/17/2008 1:20:06 PM
6/17/2008 1:59:50 PM
and YOU need to wake up if you think all of those problems you listed were Lowe's fault. Its lowe's fault that his point guard tore his ACL?Its Lowe's fault that Costner couldn't throw the ball in the ocean if he was standing in it? Its Lowe's fault that Gavin and Courtney like to pass to the other team? Its Lowe's fault that he inherited only 6 or 7 players, all recruited to play slow down basketball, and he lost the only one of them worth a crap to graduation?Get a clue man. You won't know anything about Lowe for 2 more years. He's still coaching leftovers.[Edited on June 17, 2008 at 2:22 PM. Reason : ]
6/17/2008 2:22:07 PM
^but it IS Lowe's fault that we haven't had adequate depth at the point for the past two seasons (some of the blame could also probably be put on Fowler for failing to maintain contact with recruits during the hiring process), you have to be prepared for injuries because it is part of sports...not to mention Lowe offered Javi instead of Chris Warren (15.8 points and 4.5 assists per game as a freshman at Ole Miss). Also it doesn't take 4 fucking years to know anything about a coach, look at Huggins taking West Virginia to the Sweet Sixteen in his first year. If things don't turn around pretty dramatically in the upcoming season, we should definitely be looking for a new coach. [Edited on June 17, 2008 at 2:42 PM. Reason : .]
