i'll post more information about paul johnson & georgia tech after our staff meeting tuesday. my boss will be back from the navy game and should have more info by then.

Word is Tammy Bowden's headed to Arkansas. A win for the Pack either way.
12/3/2007 10:26:07 PM
How would that be a win for us?Bowden sucks. Keeping him is definitely to our advantage.
12/4/2007 12:11:35 AM
yepTommy coaching has totally benefitted us for the last 4+ seasons...
12/4/2007 12:13:43 AM
^ what he said.
12/4/2007 12:16:24 AM
We've lost to Clemson the last few years because we suck, not because they're good.Clemson recruits substantially better than we do, has a loud stadium with an intense fan base, and a really good coach could take them to being a top 10 team.
12/4/2007 12:20:54 AM
ive got a feeling clemson doesnt recruit much better than us, but i dont feel like looking that stat up
12/4/2007 12:22:00 AM
still doesn't change the fact that WE won't beat them during the next 4 seasons...
12/4/2007 12:22:12 AM
when they beat us four years straight, two of which are blowouts at home, i don't see how it is to our advantage to have them underachieve overall. if anything it'd make the acc a little more respectable in football if they'd do well.]

OH SHIT.sorry, i completely forgot that this thread had turned into tommy bowden. i thought we were talking about keenan.[Edited on December 4, 2007 at 2:46 AM. Reason : yeah, clemson has a good stadium ]
12/4/2007 2:40:15 AM
try 86,092, and one of the most expansive tailgating sites you'll see^ you might be referring to Keenan[Edited on December 4, 2007 at 2:45 AM. Reason : .][Edited on December 4, 2007 at 2:49 AM. Reason : yes, keenan]
12/4/2007 2:45:13 AM
that was a bigtime mistake on my part. apologies all around guys.
12/4/2007 2:47:02 AM
12/4/2007 8:49:02 AM
When asked what he needed to do after the Clemson game, Tom O'Brien said "We need to recruit more guys like their guys," or something to that effect.
12/4/2007 9:13:46 AM
clemson has had back-to-back-to-back-to-back top 20 recruiting classes
12/4/2007 10:27:52 AM
clemson is a good football program in the middle of a bunch of bad ones. they must hate it.
12/4/2007 10:31:14 AM
They are also a good football program that thinks they are an elite one. They must hate it.
12/4/2007 10:38:10 AM
Tommy is staying. agreement reached this morning.http://clemson.rivals.com/
12/4/2007 10:42:06 AM
Could they move from Tommy to Terry?
12/4/2007 10:45:03 AM
Dumb move by Tammy IMO. Once the fans turn on you, you pretty much have to walk on water to regain that respect (See: Herb Sendek). One more non-ACC Championship season and Tammy is gone. He may still get paid, but he's gone. He should have left before his name becomes tarnished with a firing or a 'being run out of town' and started over (As Herb did, which was the smart thing to do).[Edited on December 4, 2007 at 10:50 AM. 12/4/2007 10:49:54 AM
Figured it was just TB trying to get a better deal. I can honestly say that that would have been one of the stupidest moves (unless he just completely tanks) ever by a coach.
12/4/2007 11:05:06 AM
12/4/2007 11:12:59 AM
i agree with packbackeri thought this would be a great chance for both parties to get a fresh start.
12/4/2007 12:08:21 PM
Arkansas may have to hire Butch by process of elimination
12/4/2007 12:29:24 PM
There are going to be a lot of unhappy Razorback fans if they end up with a no name coach. It may be Ron English now, unless they go a completely different direction from the people they have interviewed. The BCA will probably go nuts if Arkansas starts over.

the fact of the matter is that Tommy has taken us to the brink of the ACC Championship. YEs, we've had some meltdown in the past, but Tommy is not responsible for Aaron Kelly (an All-ACC receiver) dropping a wide open game winning TD pass that wouldve put us in the Championship.contrary to popular belief, there are a good number of clemson fans who see the progress we've made, and believe that with just a bit more patience, we'll reach that higher level. It's hard for any fanbase to be completely dissatisfied with annual bowl appearances, and continously beating their rival year in and out. That said, Clemson fans (including me) do want to reach that next step. I've always liked Tommy Bowden, and the recruiting classes he's brought in lately have been phenomenal. I think he's done a great job dealing with the loss of Rich Rodriquez and switching our offensive schemes after the Woody Dantzler era.My only beef with Tommy is that he didnt take out Will Proctor last year and start Cullen Harper sooner...but thats in the past and it only makes me even more excited to know that we've got a solid QB with tons more experience for next year. We'll get there...[Edited on December 4, 2007 at 2:17 PM. Reason : .]
12/4/2007 2:17:18 PM
however, I will admit that this was the classic John Calipari card pull.bowden's now making $2.2 million annually
12/4/2007 2:24:43 PM
maybe he can afford to keep his daughter from whoring herself out now
12/4/2007 2:29:46 PM
tammy can win games but his team always chokes on the big ones. Same thing will happen next year and clempson fans will be calling for his head again.
12/4/2007 2:59:38 PM
i was just goofin around on the internet earlier, and arkansas' scout website says that jim grobe accepted an offer there, so looks like there goes wake forest as an acc powerhouse [Edited on December 5, 2007 at 10:06 PM. Reason : this was also mentioned in the coaching carousel thread]
12/5/2007 10:05:24 PM
Not so fast says the Wake Forest Boards:http://www.w4rc0rpz.net/dLiCi0US.php[Edited on December 5, 2007 at 10:30 PM. Reason : busted]

12/5/2007 10:37:06 PM
thank godI look forward to thumping Wake in the future
12/5/2007 10:38:39 PM
this should seriously fuck up the duke coaching search
12/5/2007 10:41:38 PM
i wonder if they're still planning on adding on to their stadium...
12/5/2007 10:42:17 PM
well, according to the Wake Boards, old ted roofie was at football practice today.the rumor is that Grobe is taking his entire staff to Arkansas as a condition of the hire and that Roofie may coach the bowl gameYou can almost hear the toilet flushing on Wake Forest football
12/5/2007 10:42:59 PM
if wake forest hires ted roof, i'll shit myself.
12/5/2007 10:43:41 PM
jim caldwell ftw!!!ahahahha
12/5/2007 10:44:16 PM
lol
12/5/2007 10:44:45 PM
i am happy about this too, wake forest being good in football just doesnt sound right to me
12/5/2007 10:44:47 PM
Grobe will be making BANK
12/5/2007 10:44:56 PM
They crack me up with their "stadium improvements" too. Every time I heard that this past season, one phrase popped into mind: "You can't put lipstick on a pig."
12/5/2007 10:46:53 PM
Wake hiring Ted Roof?!? The man's record is 6-45! What coach has ever gotten a job after being 6-45!I don't think Arkansas would be a good fit for Grobe. That fanbase will be wanting to fire him in 4 years.
12/5/2007 11:02:18 PM
12/5/2007 11:04:03 PM
I agree that unless he shows success quickly, then the hawgs will want to can him. I am sure he knows that too, but that money has got to look good. Plus, Grobe will probably realize a lot of potential at Arkansas where he won't be limited academically as he was at WFU.
