i'd love to get Harrison or Chad or somebody at 19...I'm so tempted to grab Brady at 22 if he's there but I'm also hesitant to pick a QB that high not named Peyton Manningi just see Manning, Brady, Palmer, Brees as the ballers (followed by Bulger, etc) and would love to get in on one of themalso this is obviously a must

I offered Chad Johnson and Lynch for L. Coles and W. Parker. Smart? Stupid? Think it happens?
8/28/2007 10:25:44 AM
OK, since I'm 2nd in my next draft, do I just follow the blueprint above or go a different route (i.e. RB stud, WR stud, RB)?
8/28/2007 11:40:22 AM
I am convinced more and more that a 14 team league is the way to go, 10 is too easy, 12 is probably good for the average league, 16 (did that one year, it was brutal) I liked, but definitely hard as shit if you have a RB go down, but 14 seems to be perfect
8/28/2007 11:47:34 AM
8/28/2007 11:54:21 AM
but he dosent have carson throwing him the ballbucs alliance nonwithstanding
8/28/2007 11:56:58 AM
I don't think he'd bite on that. I don't want to lose Chad, but with my RB situation, I need help.
8/28/2007 11:57:04 AM
yeah, I wouldn't do that either... saw Ocho Cinco for the first time in person last night, its amazing how much separation he can get, kept making Deangelo Hall his bitch but Palmer didn't throw to him, looked like they were trying to focus on passing to the RBs and TEs
8/28/2007 11:58:08 AM
and it sounds like Brandon Jones is losing his starting job... anyone else you could pick up and drop him?
8/28/2007 11:59:21 AM
What do you all think about Dwayne Jarrett, fantasy option?
8/28/2007 12:36:29 PM
for your 7th! WR hes alright... not sure who else is out there

Thoughts on this trade I just made. I get Brady, he gets McNabb and Darrell Jackson. Standard scoring 10 team league, we start 1 QB, 3 WRs. I still have Harrison, Cotchery, Boldin, and Glenn as WRs. Plus this frees up a spot on my roster to pickup Jerrious Norwood, LaMont Jordan, or another WR like Derrick Mason.I am worried about McNabb and Jackson's health and Brady is a top 2 QB. Plus I now have LT, Harrison, and Brady as my core group.
8/28/2007 1:03:08 PM
you are in good shape... and the other peeps in your league are retards if you have a team that good

^lol I am not worried all, Mcgahee vs. my Bengals, Jones-drew vs. tennessee, Denver D against Losman...and Billy has LJ (might not get a lot of carries week 1), and his Ravens D against Ocho Cinco and the boys..yeah I'm 1-0

I think he does too. You might luck out meaning if you do win, it won't be by a lot.[Edited on August 28, 2007 at 1:43 PM. Reason : lol]
8/28/2007 1:42:36 PM
you'd have him in a PPR league, but you are right. I think you are in trouble that week.I drafted Owen as my starting TE as well. Granted we are in a PPR league, so he is actually a pretty solid pick.I've got Chicago's Defense as well. Very shaky matchup against SD in week one.Good Luck!
8/28/2007 1:43:25 PM
PPR league?
8/28/2007 1:44:05 PM
^points per reception, which the league in question is, but it's also 1pt/4 carries which offsets that^^^^^Brady is replacing Caldwell, Troy Brown, and Gabriel with Randy Moss, Stallworth, and Welker, as everyone knows. I think that alone bumps him into the Palmer/Brees category. Palmer will play even better this year, but he does only have 2 targets until week 10. Brees is terrific, but I think last year was as good as it gets for him. That's why I have them1. Manning2. Brady3. Palmer4. Brees[Edited on August 28, 2007 at 1:45 PM. Reason : d]
8/28/2007 1:45:01 PM
Points per reception, which is what we are...my other defense options are:Green Bay vs. PhillyWashington vs. Miami (just picked them up as an option for week 1)
8/28/2007 1:45:25 PM
OH, my bad. I'm in that Bagel league with a reception counting as one point.
8/28/2007 1:46:00 PM
^ so its a PPR leagueso, any defensive thoughts?here is our defensive scoring system: Sack (2)Interception (3)Fumble Recovery (3)Touchdown (6)Safety (3)Block Kick (2)Points Allowed 0 points (50)Points Allowed 1-6 points (30)Points Allowed 7-13 points (20)Points Allowed 14-20 points (10)Points Allowed 21-27 points (0)Points Allowed 28-34 points (-5)Points Allowed 35+ points (-30)

^sheesh, defense wins championships, eh?
8/28/2007 1:48:38 PM
it can... can lose you a lot of them too
8/28/2007 1:50:00 PM
8/28/2007 1:50:41 PM
I got offered Rudi, Plaxico and Todd Heap for Larry Johnson. I'm thinking no right now. Rudi is an automatic 1200 and 12 (He has scored exactly 12 TD's each of the last 3 years.) My 3 starting recievers are Chad Johnson, Lee Evans and Santana Moss, and my TE is McMichael. I picked LJ second overall, so I'm probably gonna hold on to him as he has a much better chance of 17+ plus TDs. The Bengals have a shitload of weapons; the Chiefs have LJ, Gonzalez and thats it.
8/28/2007 2:03:58 PM
^I'd take it, especially if you don't have one of the top TE's. If there's one thing I want to get across in this thread, it is that LJ is going to be a huge bust this year. Only a god (like Eric Dickerson) can survive the 429 carries he got last year. Think Edgerrin James, Terrell Davis, Ricky Williams, Eddie George etc. after they received a ton of carries. Think Shaun Alexander, last year. He will probably get injured at some point, but until then his effectiveness will be way down. He was a very smart man to get his money when he did. The easiest way to spot the big RB bust is to look for the player the coach tried to run into the ground the previous year.[Edited on August 28, 2007 at 2:11 PM. Reason : d]
8/28/2007 2:10:58 PM
^^ I am not big on LJ because:1. He has no offensive line to run behind2. His team is garbage at offense other than himself.3. His holdout will affect his conditioning early in the season.4. The Chiefs will be playing behind all season limiting how much he can run.I think that trade is pretty fair, but maybe you can get him to give you something else in place of Plexiglass since you seem to be set at WR.[Edited on August 28, 2007 at 2:16 PM. Reason : ^beat me to it.][Edited on August 28, 2007 at 2:17 PM. Reason : Chiefs]
8/28/2007 2:16:00 PM
I disagree, obviously, as I took LJ over Steven Jackson. He is still just 27, and has less than 900 career carries. He is no Eddie George, Edge or Terrell Davis yet in terms of taking a pounding over several years. I'll start to worry as he approaches 30 years and 2,000 carries, but this year I think he's the clear number 2 RB, though I wouldn't argue anyone taking Jackson either.
8/28/2007 2:17:20 PM
8/28/2007 2:17:40 PM
I think McMichael's is going to have a horrible season...take Heap and Rudi...thats just me though
8/28/2007 2:26:09 PM
^^^Edge was 23, Terrell Davis 27, Jamal Anderson 27, Ricky Williams 26, Eddie George 28, Shaun 29.[Edited on August 28, 2007 at 2:29 PM. Reason : it's ok to disagree obviously, that's just my 2 cents that I feel strongly about]
8/28/2007 2:26:14 PM
if you were to trade Edgerrin James, which RB's do you think would be comparable, but have more of an upside?
8/28/2007 2:44:52 PM
^not to specifically answer your question, but from what i've heard Edge is gonna get more carries this year than his first year with the Cardinals, but that Marcel Shipp is gonna get a lot of the goal line dutiesJerius Norwood looked good last night btw

^^^If you're wanting to be more risky, you can try to trade for one of these guys:1. Maurice Jones-DrewUpside: If you've seen him play, you know. He can score from anywhere, the defense often loses him due to his height, his center gravity is very low and he always pushes the pile like he's a fullback or something. Good run-blocking o-line in Jacksonville. Presence of Fred Taylor should keep him fresh, lower risk of injury.Downside: Fred Taylor and Greg Jones are healthy for now, could cut into his production. Jack Del Rio is retarded, he could decide to start Couch at QB, or chop Jones-Drew's foot off with an ax. 2. Ronnie BrownUpside: Very talented, Cam Cameron offenses involve the RB a lot (see LT)Downside: Cameron keeps blabbing about how Ronnie hasn't locked up the starting job yet, he's put Ronnie Brown on kick returns in the preseason (I thought that's what Ginn was for?). In other words, he's probably retarded too. O-line and passing attack will probably continue to suck, which will make things tough. He hasn't proven he can stay healthy with a tough workload.3. Cedric BensonUpside: Good young runner, the #1 RB for a team that might be running a lot, although not as much as last year.Downside: Liability in the passing game as both a blocker and receiver means Adrian Peterson (the other one) will cut into production. If Benson falters, Peterson is good enough to make this a committee situation. Like Brown, he hasn't proven he can stay healthy with a tough workload, remember he got hurt early in the Super Bowl.If you are unhappy with Edge, or just feel like you need a roll of the dice, I would go after those guys in that order.EDIT: Insert McGahee between Jones-Drew and Brown if you can get him, his average-draft position is slightly higher than those guys, but in the league I am in with Jaybee1200 and wlb420 I couldn't give McGahee away.[Edited on August 28, 2007 at 3:12 PM. Reason : d]
