guess youve never been to a real game there. you would understand if you have. its why most people were for renovating reynolds over the rbc. the rbc center was a political decision theres a reason duke doesnt build a bigger arena

If you are coming to a general admission game and you dont want to stand, don't sit behind students and young people. Sit in the back. No one wants your dumbass at the game, anyway.

The RBC Center is a beautiful arena and one of the finest facilities in the country, much as Reynolds was in its day. The difference is that nowadays in order to build a huge arena you have to let really lame people who sit on their hands buy lifetime rights seats.I swear if I'm ever rich I'm going to be loud as fuck.

You might not realize this, sweetie, but there are more games after this. If he is injured, people do care.

reason #34902 why girls should not be allowed to post in sports talk.
3/17/2007 12:56:12 AM
i think i read somewhere that Fells injured himself. i don't think it was anything major, just something that they didn't want to take the risk of him being out there and making it worse.
3/17/2007 12:56:33 AM
I'm just saying that there's nothing you can do about it now, so why are you FREAKING OUT, OMG?![Edited on March 17, 2007 at 12:59 AM. Reason : If he is hurt, I'm sure someone will post it shortly. Calm down.]
3/17/2007 12:58:05 AM
There are two obvious possiblities:1. Courtney is hurt. I didn't see him with the trainers or going back to the locker room.2. Sidney was unhappy with how he was playing. Considering that Courtney finished with more fouls than points in 31 minutes, this seems like a possiblity.Hopefully he's not hurt.[Edited on March 17, 2007 at 1:01 AM. Reason : .]

3/17/2007 1:04:52 AM
We're really on the same page- I don't want him hurt, either. Of course I want all the players to be healthy and prepared for their next game (and the rest to follow).I have no idea when I started posting in Sports Talk, but there's never been a complaint until I said one thing you guys misinterpreted.Oh, and don't call me "sweetie" in an effort to be condescending.[Edited on March 17, 2007 at 1:18 AM. I was sitting front row on floor on the band sideA++++ to the crowd tonight. If we could only be that amped about all games... but I understand the extra motivation tonight.Best moments:- sending around the wave 4 times in a row two different times.- having people show up 70+ minutes before tip-off and chanting their hearts out- The "Refs You Suck" chants were insane... probably loudest moment- Watching our players gather center court and thank the fans- During a Free throw after a Tech, we had the place rocking... everyone screaming, jumping, and stomping... capped by a missed free throw - seeing all the Wolfpack greats going up to students and greeting them pre game- The CONSTANT energy and chanting ALL game. we never let up on O and D.please add more...
3/17/2007 1:18:43 AM
im so pissed i didnt take my camerawe had shitty seats but it didnt matterjust being there was awesome
3/17/2007 1:37:15 AM
^^ Reynolds was in pandemonium as the Marist guy was about to take that first free throw for the first technical. From where I was, that was the absolute loudest moment and then he missed. Very shortly after, a ref calls a travel on Costner and he walks to one end of the court. And man...the REF YOU SUCK chants were the loudest I've ever heard in any arena. Incredible night
3/17/2007 1:59:40 AM
I really enjoyed how many people cheered when the single Marist player who was warming up at 8:00 PM was missing layups. The officiating was AWFUL, but I feel like it helped the crowd; during those first technical free throws, I was screaming at the top of my lungs and couldn't hear myself, and I went on a tirade just after that, yelling so loud that I created pressure in my ears, and I could still hardly hear anything. That first technical shot was the loudest moment of that game, and my lord, it was almost unbearably loud. The tightness of Reynolds makes chants a lot easier to get the whole crowd involved in...there were a couple very excellent "Let's go Wolfpack" and "WOLF-PACK" chants that had the whole crowd in them on the offensive end, not to mention the "ref you suck" that was so loud and clear I couldn't believe it. There were also a number of defensive sets where the crowd got audibly louder as the shot clock wound down; I thought that was awesome. At least where I was sitting, there was a real harmony between the people of all ages. Early in the game I got exasperated and screamed a bunch right over the shoulder of an old guy in front of me. When I apologized for screaming in his ear, he gripped my arm and said, "That's all right, son, we need all the help we can get."Kudos to the people at Two Guys who were working their butts off. Lots of folks were getting in and out fairly quickly, and the pizza was as good as ever. There was also plenty of good conversation with some older folks while waiting for a table. The walk over to Reynolds was just perfect, especially approaching the tunnel from the far side and hearing the buzz of the crowd waiting to get in.The Marist coach was ten feet on the floor and bitching at the refs for the entire game. He had to be held back by his assistant at least half a dozen times and never got T'd up. I would really like to know what Horner and Costner said, too, since Marist #32 spit a whole bunch of angry words at a ref on his way up the floor after getting whistled and they let it go.That "foul before the clock can even start" shit was fucking clown shoes. Our guys played pretty well, and a win's a win, so I'm not going to complain. My apologizes to sarijoul for not being very personable during the game. I should've warned you that I turn into a moronic ball of emotion. All in all, it was a perfect night, and everything I'd hoped for. Thanks to everyone involved (including the gymnastics team and Josh Groban) for making my last game as a student one I'll never forget. ]
3/17/2007 2:01:48 AM
I don't think that anybody mentioned this, but I wish they had kept the insignia on the court that said "Kay Yow Court." That would have been cool to see on television. I know they had to have the MasterCard NIT sign on their somewhere, but it would have been pretty cool to see Kay Yow Court on television all night long.
3/17/2007 2:18:10 AM
yeah exactly. I was looking for that as soon as I got to Reynolds. The game was amazing though. well, 37 minutes of it was. then it got stupid.

3/17/2007 2:42:41 AM
yeah, you were directly across the arena from me (you were wearing the throwback jersey, right?) i was in section 6
3/17/2007 3:05:25 AM
Yeah, I was in the red Lowe jersey. I've been more upset at games before, but I honestly can't remember ever being angrier at a game than I was right then.Since I'm the last participant to graduate, tonight was probably the last appearance of a Poultry Science Club chicken hat at a game. There was a great picture of them (with me and andyWolfVill among others) in Technician way back when, but this is the only version I could find of it: ]
3/17/2007 3:24:07 AM
I saw horner mouth "Bullshit" or "Thats bullshit" right before he squatted down on the floor. As soon as he said "bullshit", I saw the ref kind do a double take, think for about 1 second, looking at Horner like he was trying to figure if it deserved a technical, then call it.
3/17/2007 3:43:22 AM
I'd have to agree with a few people who said the loudest moment was when the ref was walking down the floor by himself and it seemed like the entire place was chanting "ref you suck." It was just absolutely deafening, it actually made me feel bad for the guy. In other news costner and horner both deserved the T's. Horner mouthed off to the ref, and costner was all the fuck up in the Marist guy's grill pointing and shit, Sid has got to teach them to play under control. Passion is fantastic, but if a better free-throw shooting team had been there tonight it would have been a hell of alot closer. However I'll always take a win, what a great way to close out my time as a student w/ a game like that.

3/17/2007 4:15:08 AM
lol I never said the refs were fair, there was alot of shit that didn't get called both ways in that game, and we ended up on the short end of the stick in that regard. Like I said, I'm just glad we pulled a win out of that morass of shitty officiating.
3/17/2007 4:16:43 AM
passion is never a bad thingthere is a line, but it was only lightly crossedgg guys
3/17/2007 4:27:45 AM
I hate irritable doucebags that whine about people standing in front of them. What is worse is when the event staff support them. You buy a ticket for admission to the game if its GA, and for a "spot" if it is not. You don't own a viewshed. Noone is standing in front of your couch. If you are physically unable to stand, you should get a handicapped seat.Get over yourself. People are supporting their team, not deciding to harass you.
3/17/2007 6:37:04 AM
I got a pretty badass video of the wave before the gameI'll see if I can load it up once my head stops throbbing

Horner did not deserve the Technical, the ref was just trying to assert his dumb ass authority over soemthing insignificant...and then the call when the Marist guy pulled our number 23 dotn to the ground, and we fucking get called for the foul.. I loved the "You Still SUCK" chant after they called some intechnical foul on Marist which CLEARLY was him trying to right his past wrong...man what a KICK ASS GAME...I hope EVERYONE brings that thrill to the Girl's NCAA game at RBC this Sunday at nooon! GO PACK!!! Oh yeah..I bougt a ticket..to the WVU NIT Game..there's sooo many fan tickets left I guess there students dont care about it...???

Well said WhiteMike.. #32 on Marist was pissing me off b/c he was doing all he could to try to get under Costner's skin...GO PACK!!
3/17/2007 8:49:10 AM
Worst officiated game of basketball I have ever seen.
3/17/2007 9:15:50 AM
yeah, in the post game press conference, sid said that Costner thought he had been getting beat up the entire game and then when the guy pushed him he was like "you do that again and I'm going to get you" and the ref t'd him up.
3/17/2007 9:22:02 AM
I WANT A PANORAMIC FRAMED PRINT OF LAST NIGHT....MY GOD THAT WAS 1 OF MY TOP SPORTS EXPERIENCES EVER.
3/17/2007 9:41:47 AM
My fiance has never really appreciated basketball, she has been to a few games at the RBC Center with me, but doesn't get into or follow the game at all when there. I, on the other hand, am a basketball fanatic, my dad took me to every State game since I was 1 0r 2, and I get chills just stepping into Reynolds Coliseum. I've tried to explain to my fiance several times the way games used to be, the way the crowd was, and how those times from growing up really affected the experience of a basketball game. Well last night she begrudgingly came to the game, basically had to drag her, but from the moment we stepped foot into the building her eyes were wide like a child's. After the game she thanked me for taking her and told me that she "gets it" now.
3/17/2007 10:02:32 AM
^ Same thing happened to me last night, too. She even got upset during the second half that a couple of girls sitting next to her weren't paying attention and were just yapping on and on and on. It's now okay for me to buy 2 tickets to all of next year's home games."Wow, this place really is old school!"--My significant other
