I was leaning towards the Panny 46PZ85. buydig has it right now at 1448. But this site has the 80 at $1050 after rebatehttp://www.6ave.com/shop/product.aspx?ref=shopzilla&sku=PANTH46PZ80UConvince me to spend that extra $400 on the 85. What do I get, a little bit better contrast and an RGB input (can't I do an HTPC if I desired over HDMI?)
8/5/2008 5:41:45 PM
the pz85 has a useless vga input (unless you feel 1024x768 isnt useless ((it is)) )using the HDMI driven by your computer is the way to go.If I were in your shoes I would buy the pz80. I don't know if I would order it online though or bank on rebates.
8/5/2008 6:15:10 PM
well, they fixed my cable and ganked my new channels io ordered at the same time.
8/5/2008 6:26:08 PM
That rebate is on installation or furniture. I don't hardly see how they can advertise the price of the TV itself with this $200 rebate added to the bottom line. No asterisk or see below or anything by the priceMSRP: $1,799.00 You Save: $549.00You Pay $1,250.00 Mail In Rebate: -$200.00Price After Rebate: $1,050.00
8/5/2008 10:15:50 PM
Yeah, that is kind of messed up.2. To receive up to a $200 rebate on Home Theater/Home Entertainment Furniture you must simultaneouslypurchase a select Panasonic VIERA HDTV AND the Home Theater/Home Entertainment Furniture from8/3/08 through 8/16/08. Both purchases MUST be on the same receipt
8/6/2008 2:43:47 PM
I did some googling. Apparently, Panny has run this same rebate deal quite a bit.Now...to game the system. If you can just get a receipt to show installation then you can claim the rebate. So, the question is, how to get this receipt without actually having to pay for the installation (I prefer to do my own stuff anyway).

so i'm starting to think i want to buy an hdtv but i know if i do then i will want to buy a ps3 for bluray. does anyone know of any good 1080p tv/ps3 packages anywhere? i'm thinking i'd like a tv between 40" and 50".
8/9/2008 9:33:50 PM
i've never seen a PS3 bundled with a HDTV, and i guarantee you if the bundles are out there, it will be a Sony HDTV
8/9/2008 10:03:36 PM
yeah i'm sure its wishful thinking, i was just hoping to maybe save like $50 or something.
8/9/2008 10:15:00 PM
Did some more shopping this weekend. I'm starting to lean back towards LCDs.
8/10/2008 1:27:10 PM
i don't know if this is actually valid (because if it is, this is nuts), but: - panasonic 42" 720p plasma (TH-42PX80U) - 5.1 philips home theater system (HTS3151D/37) - geek squad installationall for $690 AR + tax at best buyala http://www.slickdeals.net/[Edited on August 10, 2008 at 6:37 PM. ^There is a sticky on avsforum about these. I am sure somewhere in the 1000+ posts if there is something to be found, it would be in there.http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1027358I just bought the PN50A550... it was $1499.97 through Amazon. Now its $1587.93?http://tinyurl.com/6llt27

very nice, i have the LN40A650 and love it.
9/29/2008 3:58:41 PM
Yeah. I definitely think spending the extra money to get the 650 vs 550 was worth it.[Edited on September 29, 2008 at 4:00 PM. Reason : ]
9/29/2008 3:59:27 PM
yea, higher contrast, brightness, and 120Hz, it was a no brainer for me
9/29/2008 5:09:13 PM
I have the 52" 650, and I know when I had my htpc hooked up via vga, the tv knew to turn itself off when the signal went away, but with hdmi, the tv stays on and shows the no signal screen. Do you guys know how to make it automatically turn off? I read that there is a 3 hour if you never touch it somewhere and there are on/off timers, but I use the htpc exclusively and have no real need to use the tv remote and I don't want it turning on and wasting power unless I'm there watching.

I am trying to decide between the 52A650 or the 52A750. I like the DLNA on the 750 but the "halo effect" is annoying. Not sure if it has been fixed in the most recent 750's or not.
10/8/2008 3:44:11 PM
Just got a Samsung LN-T5271F 52" LCD for 1738 after taxes as well as a 5 year extended warranty. I am pretty happy.
10/9/2008 8:32:19 PM
Get the 650. All the 750 has extra is really the stock/weather internet option.
10/9/2008 9:59:04 PM
^^^^ Is that able to play video through WMC's UPnP server? If so... damn nice tv. If not, well it's still a nice tv.
10/9/2008 10:03:24 PM
^the 7-series w/ DLNA can i believe, the 6-series can only do photo/music
10/9/2008 10:38:14 PM
Thanks for the advice. I finally got most of the stuff hooked up.
10/10/2008 12:05:22 PM
dope
10/10/2008 12:49:51 PM
^^ Wow nice tv AND you managed to avoid getting stuck with an SA-8300HDC dvr. Cool.

i'm looking at getting a samsung ln32a450. i haven't found any skeletons to be wary of, but do any of you guys know a reason i shouldn't buy it?also, extended service plans...are they worth the extra money?
11/1/2008 9:08:48 PM
^ that tv should be pretty good, probably not worth it for the warranty plans imho
11/1/2008 9:17:11 PM
Yeah, I didn't bother shelling out the warrenty for mine either.
11/1/2008 10:04:25 PM
I'm looking to pick up a 40-42" LCD HDTV this season, primarily for PS3 gaming. I don't get cable so all my HD channels i pick up OTA and I rarely watch blu-ray movies.1) Is 120hz really that much better ($300 difference)2) What are your thoughts on Vizio vs. Sony/Samsung?
11/5/2008 9:43:26 AM
yes, samsung ln40a650
11/5/2008 10:46:24 AM
agreed
11/5/2008 10:59:00 AM
Sweet, I was considering that one vs. a550 vs. the bravia kdl-40s4100.any chance the 650 could hit 1000-1100 by thanksgiving or christmas, or is that just wishful thinking?
11/5/2008 2:51:24 PM
Does anyone have a Logitech Harmony One?I'm in the market for a ~$200 remote and cant find anything with better reviews.
11/5/2008 3:05:30 PM
