"did any of you read the article on Ian Johnson in ESPN magazine?

he was really good in HS, but didnt get any offers, had no clue what was up, then right before signing day, his HS coach left, and while they were cleaning out his office they found a ton of letters/offers from major colleges, for some reason the coach hid them, but by then it was too late and he had to go to Boise State. Thats some fucked up shit yo"

I remember them talking about how he didn't get any offers during the game but they didn't go into why, that is messed up. What would have been that coaches motivation to even dream of doing such a thing. Having a player make it to the next level should be one of the greater honors for a HS coach.

pay attention on the replay of the hook and ladder, the WR that got the pitch was bumped hard at the line, almost didnt make it there in time to get the pitch. Love little stuff like that.

maybe the coach just didnt like him or didnt think he worked hard enough or something

i would think if schools really wanted hiim they would call his house, come to see him, etc

depending on how bad they wanted him

^^^ Georgia beat that ass

^ might be something like the coach has to send in the initial paperwork, or handle the first contact etc, not sure. But they made it sound like more of a personal vendetta by the HS coach

I would have come on here earlier, but I wasn't getting up from my seat. Games like this come once in a generation or lifetime.

hypothetically when OU intercepted and ran back for the touchdown with 1 min left should they have just downed the ball at the goaline....ran the clock down..then kicked a field goal guaranteeing no time for BSU to stage a comeback....

yeah yeah there's no guarantee OU would have made the fieldgoal or that they believed BSU could march down and score a TD under 1 min...and the general rule is to always go up if you can

but still..............

Well in the end I guess Ian Johnson got the ultimate revenge. For his sake I hope that coach saw every bit of that game.

Good luck getting an 18-22 year old to lay down a guaranteed TD on national TV in a big bowl game.

Haha then you could have what occurred in Arkansas where the HS coach becomes an assistant and brings three of his top players with him only to start a mutiny with their parents against Houston Nutt.

And aside from that, the INT->TD is a huge momentum shift.

The fact that Boise State came back to tie was just incredible on its own.

In the Fiesta Bowl, he scored the game winning two point conversion in overtime on a Statue of Liberty play to the left side. Boise State beat Oklahoma 43-42, accomplishing their perfect 13-0 season. Yea, this game has movie written all over it.

Especially since it's Petersen's first year as headcoach at Boise State because Dan Hawkins left to rebuild Colorado.

Colorado's record this year, 2-9. The irony is amazing.

hahaha, I remember seeing a little brief during a BSU regular season game where he described those beanies...lol

and it should read something like "Johnson's income doesn't matter right now, because in a matter of months/years, he'll be making $NFL."

Is it hook and ladder or hook and lateral? I always thought it was the second one, but most articles say the first.

first, although the pattern is normally a hook followed by a lateral.
