Man, it looks like Tekken DR got delayed AGAIN. That's the one thing that is getting me is the delays on games like this. its been out in Japan for months and its really the exact same game, so I don't know why they keep delaying it.I think that's all the news I have right now.
3/1/2007 10:21:23 AM
^Yeah I am pretty disappointed about that too since I was looking forward to it being released. The only place that has been posted so far is IGN though, so it could still show up although it is unlikely. So far they have made a pattern of updating the store about 4-5 EST so I guess we will know for sure soon. The hype has already started building for the PS3 news that will be released at the Game Developers Conference next week. I am certainly interested to hear what they will be announcing.http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3157595Gundam Musou PS3 Interview

Actually, looks like Tekken DR is coming out today after all.http://www.gamespot.com/news/6166600.html?action=convert&om_clk=latestnews&tag=latestnews;title;1Calling All Cars really does look like its going to be a lot of fun. Its definitely looking pretty original and I think it will be a refreshing game to come out on this generation. I love a fun online experience, and this one should be pretty good.[Edited on March 1, 2007 at 2:18 PM. Reason : .][Edited on March 1, 2007 at 2:26 PM. Reason : .]

^ awesome! Between Tekken 5 DR, Virtua Fighter 5, and Mortal Combat 2 that should be enough fighting action for everyone for awhile. http://www.gamevideos.com/video/id/8248 There are some good Tekken DR videos on that site I have been watching today.More good PS3 information in the news today:http://www.gamersreports.com/news/5136/sony-sharpens-edge-with-new-ps3-development-technology/Sony Sharpens 'Edge' With New PS3 Development Technologyhttp://threespeech.com/blog/?p=301Exclusive Interview - Phil Harrison on Backwards Compatibility

First MLB 07 the Show PS3 Screenshots. ^ You are right about #1 being EA Games. I found the graph for that.http://www.gamasutra.com/newspics/screen%20digest_graph_1_big.jpgThere is a "leaked" outline for Phil Harrison's GDC Keynote that everyone is talking about right now. There is absolutely no credibility to it at this point though since it is a random forum user so I am not going to post it but if it turns out to be true then March is going to be a great month.Possibly more evidence this update coming is true. This is a recent trademark filed by Sony:

CapnObvious, just curious why you detest Sony. I still haven't found a good reason to hate an electronics company.

Tekken 5 DR looks beautiful in 1080 - my thumb hurts and I'm up too late...time for bed

3/2/2007 1:24:31 PM
I'm going to be all over some Tekken after work. Rumor has it that the update next Thursday on PSN is going to be massive. This is just a rumor though, so who knows. I think the GDC Conference is going to be huge though, so just gotta wait for that.
3/2/2007 2:48:32 PM
There is a Ratchet and Clank (made by the same people that made Resistance) exclusive in the latest EGM. There are the two most interesting screens:http://img103.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=72049_scan11280jg7lv1_122_258lo.jpghttp://img120.imagevenue.com/view.php?image=72038_scan2720vg9st7_122_162lo.jpgIt is looking to be pretty awesome, hopefully my copy of EGM comes in the mail soon.[Edited on March 2, 2007 at 7:19 PM. Tekken is really, really fun. I think for $20 this game has just about the most value of any game I have ever played. There are rumors that they may have a patch to enable the game online. Now that would just be amazing.Next up, Motorstorm. This comes out tomorrow or Wednesday, so I'm pumped about playing it this week. Probably see some of you guys online.

3/6/2007 12:49:31 PM
Motorstorm day gentlemen. I know I'm geeked.
3/7/2007 10:07:31 AM
Harrison's GDC keynote is today at 1:30pm.Should be releasing some key details about Playstation Home, upcoming games/demos/trailers, and the famed March 23rd firmware update.I'm geeked.
3/7/2007 11:05:48 AM
I'm definitely geeked about the keynote today. The NYT backed up the PlayStation Home rumors first reported on Kotaku (and the hilarity that ensued) saying it will be implemented in the fall, so that may take a little edge off the keynote.Looking forward to Motorstorm - think I'll use some of my BB Reward Zone certificates to pick it up for free.99

anyone know the name of the game Micah was playing in Heros on monday's episode
3/7/2007 12:49:43 PM
That's Heavenly Swords. Not yet released... currently slated for Spring release I think?Basically a God of War clone from what I gather. Looked pretty badass though.

yeah it did, thanks for the info

Phil Harrison just killed it at GDC, with some awesome announcements.Home and LittleBigPlanet or whatever it's called both look awesome.details:http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/07/joystiq-and-engadget-live-at-sonys-2007-gdc-keynote/video clip of Playstation Home:http://kotaku.com/gaming/clips/gdc07-clip-the-ps3s-home-242341.phpnow if he'd just summarize what we're getting with the major firmware update, I'd be ecstatic.
3/7/2007 2:56:23 PM
So here's basically what happened at GDC:Here's the official trailer for PS3 Home:http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=17548&type=wmvLittle Big World:http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=17548&type=wmv&pl=gamePhil and some other were playing this game, I think the same level during the keynote. Looks really interesting. The basis of it is that its a game where the user creates his own content/game, etc. Seems pretty cool. Also go and take a look at the preview of Warhawk over on IGN. This pretty much spells it all out here:http://ps3.ign.com/articles/770/770561p1.htmlThe game is now multiplayer only, but it looks pretty interesting. Kindof like a Warhawk style of Battlefield.
3/7/2007 2:57:47 PM
LittleBigWorld looks fucking sweet - with user created content too? All kinds of fun! and home destroys nintendo's Mii concept[Edited on March 7, 2007 at 3:08 PM. Reason : .]

3/7/2007 4:13:50 PM
dude, have you even looked at the videos for Home? it is way far and beyond a simple fucking Mii and some online voting channel. Besides, didn't the Mii steal from every other game where you have an online customizable character (MMORPG's for example?).
3/7/2007 4:22:14 PM
Forgot Home - it's gay. Yes...I'm a ps3 hater - however.little big world looks really really really impressive. Wow.[Edited on March 7, 2007 at 4:32 PM. Reason : ]

Man get a life freaking Capn. I mean its all well and good that you despise an electronics company (?) but as far as I'm concerned, just about everything is influenced from something. Sometimes those things become better and can influence future products themselves. That's what its all about. If its not as good or better than where its influence came from, then maybe it will fail and you can be happy, Capn. Or maybe you can just enjoy whatever console (or whatever) you prefer and quit being such a whiney bitch.
3/7/2007 4:33:05 PM
Don't really recall whining. Simply fixed a quote. The reason I hate Sony is that they are so detached from the world it isn't funny. They are still trying to bank off of their early success, opting for complicated design that has enormous potential but ghastly over head, especially for developers. Their commercials are a disaster, their launch was a disaster, but they don't seem to care. They haven't developed an original idea . . . perhaps ever.Nintendo gets hell for opting to be secretive and not advertising everything that they are currently working on. Seeing how so many companies tend to copy good ideas (not just Sony), its not hard to see why. Therefore, I will give those xerox companies hell for acting like that. And don't go for a euphemism and call it "influence". Influence infers time. How long did it take for Sony to copy the Wiimote idea? Miis became popular then Sony opted to gank that also. And really, if you are going to make such an ignorant quote as "and home destroys nintendo's mii concept", you should be prepared for people call you on it. It was a retarded fanboy jab. We all get it. And really, your quote is incorrect. A "concept" is the base of an idea. These "concepts" are the same. Sony stole that, no sugar coating required. The "implementation" is different and really nothing alike. So, you look even more foolish if you were trying to compare the two implementations because there is no point. Really, I want the PS3 to be their wake up call. Their gravy train has ended, and they can't just depend on their past success and other people's ideas to keep them alive. Time to contribute something.
3/7/2007 7:00:28 PM
my senior design group discussed making our controller motion-sensitive because we had a spare accelerometer lying around but decided not toNINTENDO OBVIOUSLY STOLE OUR IDEA RAWR RAWR RAWR
3/7/2007 7:42:48 PM
psp should have been their wake up callno one wants that shit
3/7/2007 7:47:55 PM
yeah - the PSP is such a huge failure...they sell about 100k units a week in japan, and Monster Hunter 2 sold over 700k units in the first week of releaseseriously, if you're going to view success solely on what happens in America, you need to get a fucking clueand if you want, go check patents on motion technology from Sony and Nintendo - Sony filed theirs before Nintendo did[Edited on March 8, 2007 at 1:19 AM. Reason : .]
3/8/2007 1:19:16 AM
Sony was toying with the idea of implementing the motion sensor in the PSP (one of the launch games, Mercury, was designed around this premise). Motion sensitivity was removed before the PSP went into production (and the controls for Mercury were revised).I don't need to tell you this, but the PSP came out before the announcement for Wii was even made.As far as Home goes, I don't think you can even compare it to Nintendo's Mii. There is no "online community" on Nintendo's system, unless you count sharing characters. That is the extent of what can be done with the Wii.So basically what you're claiming is that Sony stole Nintendo's idea of a digital representation of yourself. Which Nintendo did not come up with themselves, so....and finally, I love my PSP. Threw a custom firmware on there, I can play whatever I want whenever I want. It's great, and pretty soon it'll also play nice w/my PS3.
3/8/2007 10:22:01 AM
^^ yeah, and it is still getting killed by the DS everywhere. in japan and the US. i remember after Christmas, i could not find a ds anywhere but there were like 30 psp's at every store.
3/8/2007 10:48:22 AM
Man this is getting silly. Just because the DS is selling more doesn't mean that the PSP is not going over well. I really don't see the obsession with one system doing better than the other. I hope they all do well, competition is great for everyone.Anyway enough of all this petty shit. Motorstorm is freaking INCREDIBLE! I have not had this much fun with a video game in a long, long time. Single player has some great AI and all that, but multiplayer is just flat out sweet. nothing like driving around and seeing someone just explode right in front of you as you drive around their carriage and parts. Just amazing gameplay. I hope you guys all picked it up.
3/8/2007 11:31:26 AM
I'll be picking it up later today, I've been psyched about it for a while now.I'm also getting NBA Street Homecourt, good multiplayer game.I'm extremely dissapointed that they didn't include split screen multiplayer with Motorstorm. What were they thinking? Really dumb move in my book, but I'll be picking it up anyway.
3/8/2007 12:24:26 PM
I'm picking it up this weekend - looking forward to some fun!what do you want? should i go buy a console that has a retarded failure rate and less features? or how about one that has one decent game - in amazing 420p? or i can get a handheld that WON'T play movies, music, surf the net, emulate games on just about every console up to and including PSOne?Jesus, people have different wants and needs. Me? I am more than willing to spend extra money to get a system, console or hand-held, that has tremendous upside beyond just games. Ergo, a Wii or DS isn't going to cut it for me. And I'm sure as shit not going to spend $400 on a console that seems to fail at alarming rates
3/8/2007 12:38:37 PM
3/8/2007 1:22:52 PM
Im gonna pick up Motorstorm today, I believe. How is the online play?
3/8/2007 1:31:12 PM
^^ They were saying that it would be too hard to process all that data twice (two screens) but I think they defintely could have come up with a way to accomplish this. it is dissapointing but who knows, maybe they will patch it.Luckily the online multiplayer is freaking amazing though. I think there are a few things that were rushed or not done that well in this game, but most importantly the game play is amazing. Anyone that has a PS3 needs to purchase this game.So in other news, I'm hoping some of the stuff that got rumored to be added to the PSN will get added today (MKII baby!), but haven't really heard anything. Honestly if nothing comes out I've got plenty already to waste time on.
3/8/2007 1:32:00 PM
i think i'll grab motorstorm tomorrow
