core and halve or quarter them, toss in olive oil, salt, pepper, minced garlic, fresh chopped basil and thyme. Roast them on an oiled sheetpan at 400 for about an hour if you want a soft texture. 3-4 hours if you want a drier(more like a sun dried tomato), but a more intense, caramelized flavor

For this, i left them kind of soft

how does one cook black beans. like the dry kind that come in a bag. i have no idea. i like beans, don't know how to cook them. apparently they need to "soak" or something?

anyone? anyone?

what a rip off. why buy food when you have to wait like billions of hours to eat it. all i want to make is a bean quesadilla. or beans and rice. ahhhhhhhhhhh.

There are two methods. You can either soak them overnight, then drain that water, put them in a pot, cover with more water, bring to boil, then turn down and simmer until soft

or

you can boil un-soaked ones for 2 minutes, turn off the heat and let them sit for an hour or two, then do ^. That way you don't have to wait many hours for them to soak.

I'm guessing you don't have a pressure cooker. You can cook them fast that way. I don't know how, but I know you can.

Oh, and if you do the quick method, when you turn them off and let them sit, put the lid on. And make sure they stay covered with water.

My friend gave me a bunch of deer meat from this past season, so I made tacos with a pound of the ground meat.

I'll be eating leftovers today!
