The announcing on VS was quite refreshing. I hate you Tripp Tracey.

Well the outcome of the game wasn't what I was hoping for, but it was a very well played hockey game on both sides, very exciting. Still crappy that we had to lose though......

^^ I really like it when they prattle on about out-of-conference scheduling for five minutes during play.

I'll take that any day over Tripp talking about some player being as cool as a cucumber or using any of other non hillarious puns.

So I'm just now watching the shootout, and Cam's save on Elias was B-A-N-A-N-A-S.

seemed like no one for us on the shootout tried to deke or fake. they just picked out a corner or went 5 hole. thats where we miss Matt Cullen. dude was money on shootouts

Yeah, but the shoulder drop is one of those moves that doesn't have an answer in the modern goaltending arsenal, just like the area just above the blocker side pad. Cullen's decent, but the Rangers haven't been using him in shootouts. The problem is that most of our goalscorers are release-based North Americans.

really fun game tonight, not a sell out but sounded like one at points, esp. during that super long Washington 5 on 3.

gg Ward/Cole.

I was disappointed by the lack of people who threw hats.

1. There were a ton of people there for a Thursday against the Caps. I'd say every single section was at least 90% full.

2. I think the lack of hats might be explained by the fact that no one was quite sure if Cole had hit the net or the post, and when the red light came on it was like, "Whaaaaa? Oh, Cole, right. Oh, HATS!"

3. Cam had some awesome stops in the second, and the two-plus minute 5-on-3 kill was AWESOME.

4. Chad LaRose ain't just snakebit, he's Taipan-bit.

Brooks Orpik returns to the RBC Center tonight. Pittsburgh played last night, so we need to come out fast and wear them out.

I don't usually bother to watch the other team's warmup, but I can't resist Crosby/Malkin/Staal/Fleury.

I am getting a bit confused trying to figure out attendance this season. I thought the new hockey capacity with the Champions Club was 18,639, and that has been the attendance for the sellout games this season, except for opening night (standing room). But now I am looking at tonight's attendance, and it is 18,726. Any insight?

Capacity

The RBC Center encompasses approximately 700,000 square feet and four different seating levels. The creative design of the arena affords the opportunity to provide 19,000 seats for National Hockey League Games

RBC Center seats 19,722 for basketball and 18,762 for hockey.

That was awesome.

I got to go to my first game this season last night. We had both luxury box and ice side seats, and switched off. I was right behind Cam Ward for the 1st, we saw that fight up close, it was pretty sweet.
