For a D-lineman, that is average. The average D lineman has around 6 tackles and maybe a half sack.
9/29/2006 6:56:31 PM
yea, you said pathetic, so i gave some examples of ncsu players that arent pathetic. i didnt say they were doin good, though i would say right now at least 3 are (p.riv., torry, and wilson)
9/29/2006 6:58:41 PM
I can't believe this hasn't been bttt yet.Mario gets his first sack (1.5, really) Bush is still doing his thing, but still hasn't scored a TD. And...go.
10/1/2006 10:54:11 PM
Bush is averaging 3.7 yards per carry. That is not good, especially for a scatback like Bush who cannot run between the tackles. He has been very average so far this year, and I expect him to wear down as the season goes on. Drafting Mario at #1 may have been a mistake on the Texans part, but don't act like Reggie Bush is gonna have the impact on football that Jordan had on basketball.
10/2/2006 12:00:03 AM
maybe next week mario can have as many sacks as bush has turnovers
10/2/2006 12:07:26 AM

jco had a pretty nice touch down this week as well

Again the arguement to be made is not that Mario sucks, or that Bush is the Jordan of football. It's that the Texans made a poor choice drafting Mario #1 Every other team would have drafted Bush #1 so why not trade down or pick Bush and trade him later ala SanDiego with Rivers. Then if Bush busts and Mario turns out to be Reggie White, they saved some money and look like geniuses. THAT is the point of this thread.
10/2/2006 9:49:40 AM
I was at the Panthers Saints game yesterdayReggie Bush didnt do jack shitOh whats that? Mario got a sack and made a game-winning pass deflection? And Houston won the game? Oh ok, just checkingMario: 1.5 sacks, gw pass deflection, Texans winBush: 11 carries for 22 yards, Fumble, Saints lossMario: 3Reggie: 0]
10/2/2006 10:34:46 AM
10/2/2006 10:47:37 AM
It was a good decision to select Mario over Reggie. Think about this they saved money and he didn't hold out. Reggie wanted to be paid for what he is a #2 back in the Saints organization. He held out like Rivers did and for that he is getting second shift duty. Everyone says that Reggie is offering so much to the Saints offense. Well by his own numbers he is getting less and less yards per game, mario is increasing his play level and being moved around to different positions. Playing defensive tackle is not the same as D-end. Reggie isn't being asked to play wide reciver in formations. Let this argument die. At the end of the season look back and see who has done what and who has helped their team improve the most.

Not at all. The arguments still stand. Its pointless to even argue it on here. Most of you are to blinded by your man love for Mario to look past the facts. Which is expected. Atleast there are a few NCSU fans on here that can admit he wasn't the correct choice at #1. [Edited on October 5, 2006 at 3:25 PM. Reason : .]

10/5/2006 3:45:27 PM
The Bush next to the log because its better.Like I said, you people are just blinded by your man love for Mario, which is fine. Nothing wrong with that. But when 99% of people dealing with sports say you are wrong, I am gonna go with them over a few obsessed fans on a school message board.Sure, Mario could turn out to be better than Bush, but that still won't change the fact, that at the time of the draft, he was not the correct pick at #1. It has nothing to do with how they end up turning out, it has to do with who and what they were at the time of the draft.[Edited on October 5, 2006 at 3:48 PM. Reason : .]
10/5/2006 3:46:10 PM
before the draft, it is true that the bush hype could've allowed the texans to move around, still get their guy and perhaps get some additional value along with it, but if they tried to trade away and couldnt, then your point is moot.
10/5/2006 3:48:28 PM
The whole thing got fucked up by them resigning Carr. Why on earth the think he has more potential than Vince Young is beyond me.
10/5/2006 3:49:34 PM
10/5/2006 4:00:39 PM
The argument on page one pretty much says all that.
10/5/2006 4:08:21 PM
what about all your arguments about Mario not having a sack and Bush making defenders miss? Cant really stick to those argumentsMario: 1.5 (sacks)Reggie: 0 (TDs)
10/5/2006 4:10:31 PM
Shall we post the rookie stats again? Because Mario isn't doing shit in any of them.ESPN even ripped on him because the sacks he did have were a joke, so if you really wanna get on that subject we can. I was being nice and not bringing it up.
10/5/2006 4:15:12 PM
espn is a joke. whatever happened to lettin rookies develop and giving them at least a season before you start panning them and calling them busts?
10/5/2006 4:20:55 PM
Maybe now you are understanding why it was a bad pick.
10/5/2006 4:23:49 PM
haha....if assinine, premature assessments by the media determine the quality of a draft pick, then the professional sports leagues are screwed.
10/5/2006 4:24:55 PM
Ok, then how about you go interview some Texans' fans and see what they think. Something tells me its gonna be total opposite of what you guys think.

At the time of the draft, you can't argue that Bush was the better pick, or even Vince Young.Bush:MarketabilityTicket SalesJersey SalesFan ExcitementDraw Interest to your teamLots of potential to be a starCompared to Mario"Piss of your fan baseLots of potential to be a starNow which do you honestly think is the correct choice AT THAT TIME?

which is why they could've traded around, but if they tried to trade and couldnt, then your point is moot.
10/5/2006 4:39:31 PM
BUSH SURE IS A GREAT NFL PLAYERUNLESS YOU WANT TO ARGUE ABOUT RETARDED SHIT, LIKE MARKETINGINSTEAD OF FOOTBALL PLAYER PERFORMANCE
10/5/2006 4:40:47 PM
ultimately, it comes down to making your team better. people would rather cheer for a good team than a good player. if it angers your short sighted fans for a couple years, so be it, because if you have a solid plan, your team can turn the corner and people will look back on that pick as the cornerstone. this is all reminiscent of the julius peppers pick for the panthers. whether it turns out to have that impact or not, time will tell. i do agree with tuck that it seems that they could've gotten more value out of the 1st pick and still gotten their guy, but as someone pointed out earlier, they tried and couldnt. if this is true, then they did the best they could.[Edited on October 5, 2006 at 4:44 PM. What's the best way to attract fans?I'll give you a hint...it's not to draft a flashy punt returner who outran PAC-10 defenses on SaturdaysIt's to win games

Vick pretty much single handedly saved that franchise because he is a flashy player and people came in the beginning just to see him.Being the newest team with a small fan base, thats what the Texans needed. I don't think many of them want to wait around 3-5 years before they have anything worth watching.[Edited on October 5, 2006 at 4:50 PM. Reason : /]
