I doubt they'll have that be the case 2 yrs in a row.
7/11/2006 11:56:58 PM
I watched all of the DVD last night, and was really impressed with it.Most pleasant surprise - No shots of anything related to "redneck hockey"Biggest disappointment - Only one Chuck Kaiton call[Edited on July 12, 2006 at 7:51 AM. Reason : !]

7/12/2006 7:39:18 PM
so when are individual game tickets on sale
7/12/2006 8:50:00 PM
Samsonov to MTL at an absurd 3.5mil/yrZednik to WAS
7/13/2006 11:15:09 AM
Why is that absurd?
7/13/2006 11:16:50 AM
Dave Gove resigns with the Canes. His point-per-game production in the NHL was appreciated... The Canes liked what they saw.
7/13/2006 11:45:04 AM
is it just me or has edmonton been decimated with free agency?
7/13/2006 12:53:18 PM
Yeah they've pretty much been pwnt
7/13/2006 1:07:46 PM
^^^^ Eric Staal: 45-55-100 in '05-06, $4 million in '06-07Sergei Samsonov: 23-30-53 in '05-06, $3.5 million in '06-07Those numbers just don't add up.[Edited on July 13, 2006 at 2:21 PM. Reason : tt]
7/13/2006 2:21:38 PM
Didn't Samsonov miss some games last year? Did you ever watch him play for Boston? He's a pretty solid player.
7/13/2006 2:24:27 PM
7/13/2006 2:29:49 PM
First of all, we got Staal at a bargain. You can't use that as a measuring stick on all other signings.Second, you can't just look at three stats and establish a players worth, EXP when he played for Boston last year, and Staal played on the STANLEY CUP CHAMPION CAROLINA HURRICANES.
7/13/2006 2:32:35 PM
No, he played 55 games for the bruins last year, and 19 for the Oil. 55+19 = 74
7/13/2006 2:33:15 PM
I've watched Sergei Samsonov ever since he became one of the infamous Wesley draft picks. He's a good player, but he's not a $3.5 million player. As far as three statistics go, Staal and Samsonov are scoring forwards. You don't expect them to be +20 or -10. You don't worry if they take 20-40 PIMs. The G-A-P is what matters.[Edited on July 13, 2006 at 2:38 PM. Reason : ss]
7/13/2006 2:34:50 PM
Lots of things go on on the ice besides goals and assists.Have you been watching the signings this offseason? No one thinks anyone is worth the money they are getting paid, yet teams are willing to pay it.[Edited on July 13, 2006 at 2:58 PM. Reason : x]
7/13/2006 2:58:16 PM
The stupid teams are willing to pay it, yes.The Leafs were halfway to the cap with four players. The Devils are already over the cap. Just because some teams are still willing to overpay doesn't mean a middle of the road skill forward is worth $3.5 million in the new market.I know that lots of things go on other than goals and assists, but Sergei Samsonov is not Jere Lehtinen.
7/13/2006 3:02:14 PM
The reason for me calling it absurd is on par with what Vinylbandit's been saying. Samsonov is worth about 2mil per, but at his age, he's not going to get much better and he's less than durable. He's similar to Ray Whitney in a way.
7/13/2006 3:07:25 PM
Any of the Buffalo boards commenting on the matchup openning night with the canes? I like to read their petty banter. It makes me feel like a super genious.
7/13/2006 10:33:38 PM
7/13/2006 10:35:05 PM
Haha! Classic.
7/13/2006 11:24:31 PM
7/14/2006 4:27:41 AM
the sens re-signed Jeff Heerema
7/14/2006 12:36:18 PM
can I buy the championship dvd anywhere? or is it only at the eye?
7/14/2006 2:49:54 PM
I've heard they have it at BB and Walmart. But, if you care, more $$ goes to the team if you buy it from the Eye
7/14/2006 2:59:42 PM
just got it and am watching it now,LOL at the sabres backup goalie talking junk to Staal from the bench.
7/14/2006 5:00:22 PM
I heard its $20 at Walmart. I know its $26 at Best Buy
7/14/2006 5:05:53 PM
We signed Derrick Walser http://www.carolinahurricanes.com/news/news.asp?articleid=1585
7/14/2006 6:09:39 PM
I want to see Recchi back dammit sign him already!
7/15/2006 12:59:24 AM
Only if it's a million or less.I'd prefer a winger who is actually comes back past the blue line, thanks.
7/15/2006 1:30:26 AM
Can someone summarize who we have signed so far and who we are still waiting on.....please
7/15/2006 6:37:14 PM
holy crap I picked walser up in my nhl 06
7/15/2006 6:39:31 PM
^^ I don't think we are waiting on anyone (unless Recchi decides to trigger his player option, which I doubt he will do). Here is the current roster (not including two-way contract players). Correct me if I miss someone.Centers:Eric StaalRod Brind'AmourJosef VasicekKevyn AdamsWingers:Erik ColeJustin WilliamsCory StillmanRay WhitneyAndrew LaddTrevor LetowskiChad LaRoseCraig AdamsDefensemen:Frantisek KaberleMike CommodoreBret HedicanNiclas WallinGlen WesleyOleg TverdovskyAnton BabchukAndrew HutchinsonGoaltenders:Cam WardJohn Grahame

Recchi is going to help on offense, especially the PP. But, as people have stated before, he was DEAD LAST in the NHL in +/- in 06.
7/16/2006 9:28:51 AM
FYE has that DVD too, but I dunno if they have those in Raleigh, I can't remember
7/16/2006 10:04:28 AM
7/16/2006 1:05:47 PM
Forget the numbers, watch him play. Constantly losing his man back across the blue line.
7/16/2006 3:12:31 PM
Rex was +18, even, and +5 in his 3 previous seasons on an above average flyers team.
7/16/2006 4:09:42 PM
http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/teams/stats?team=pit&sort=plusMinus&season=2006&seasonType=2&type=reg&split=0
7/16/2006 4:28:24 PM
The fact that he can go from being even to being +18 shows that his +/- is a function of his linemates' scoring, and that he's no more than a marginal defensive player at best.I'd never suggest that Recchi is as bad on the back end as a rookie Kovalchuk, but his team option was far too much money for a guy who is going to chip in ~50 points but not play on a holding line or kill penalties.
7/16/2006 6:07:56 PM
Caps have signed Brashear. Goddamnit, I really don't like the thought of seeing him 8 times this year
7/16/2006 6:23:40 PM
Lindros to Dallas
7/17/2006 3:27:38 PM
Peca to the Leafs.
