Meh, I mean its a happier and makes more sense with the rest of the movie. But there is something to be said for the main character to sacrifice himself.

i heard the dog dies in this one for those who still haven't seen it

Better ending? No. The only thing this ending did for me was reinforce my hatred for the cg hyper-extended jaw effect.
3/6/2008 4:33:01 PM
it is just completely horrible the more I see it...or even more horrible than I thought it was when I first saw it.
3/6/2008 4:38:01 PM
That alternate ending blows.
3/6/2008 4:46:30 PM
yea, fuck those jaws

The book ending was awesome.

what did happen to the monster lady??He apologizes... maybe the cure didn't work?
3/7/2008 10:08:01 AM
i think he's apologizing for 'kidnapping' heri think that version made it obviously clear what you were supposed to already know. but i can see where it wasn't "dramatic" effect for the official ending of the movie. (i'm not even going to get into the fact that it's nothing like the book. i accepted that before going into the theater.)also, that chick's probably going to die rather than be cured now because her body temp is going to go back up. how does the book end... non-words version...
3/7/2008 1:02:52 PM
vampires catch him, string him up, and kill him. he realizes he was the real monster for hunting them down.
3/7/2008 1:28:33 PM
wait weren't they the ones that were aggressive? So how is he the monster?
3/7/2008 1:55:20 PM
NoHe spent years hunting the vampires which actually were very intelligent and had a society of their own.He was their monster.Their legend. They finally capture him and tell him of the charges he faces before executing him and he realizes that while he thought he was killing monsters, that he was ultimately the only monster.

Well in the book there were two "types" of vampires (they weren't really zombies in the book). One type was mindless like the ones in the movie, and the other type could actually think and had a social structure. He thought that they were all just trying to kill him, so in the day he would go around finding as many as he could to kill them in their sleep. If you think about it, if there was a lone survivor/monster of an old species going around at night and breaking into our houses and killing us while we were asleep, we would be damn scared of it. He had the same effect on them, they grew to fear him like we would a monster, enough to the point where he was a legend among them.

Hence the title of the book. Kinda ruined on the movie though.

I still think that is one of the greatest twists ever... when I first heard of this and thinking that "I am Legend" refers to him being the last man on earth, then the twist of him being the "legendary" monster... but the movie doesn't convey that. And that SUCKS - bc that is a huge part of this for me.

aw shit that's awesome. I wish I didn't know that and I wish I could go and read the book and not know that.
