at my office we hired Chris Craymer from the UK (http://www.chriscraymer.co.uk/) to shoot a series for our upcoming "back to campus" launch. Pretty tight fashion photography, though it was more compelling flipping through his book than looking on that website.-ZiP!-[Edited on May 6, 2006 at 12:07 AM. probably be some good photo opportunities here:http://www.wral.com/news/9171787/detail.htmlif they dont have it gayed up and you get there early with a decent zoom
5/6/2006 8:09:55 PM
Meh, I thought about it since I have a meeting right across the street at Circuit City at 8 am. However, it'll probably be pretty boring to look at pictures of. It doesn't seem like a good photo oppurtunity at all. This is something for video.

I shoot some of everything, really. I'm stoked about my new macro lens, but I'm most accustomed to photojournalism stuff/action/sports.

5/8/2006 2:04:27 AM
Nice pics, but it seems to me that a non-neutral watermark is just a bad idea.
5/8/2006 2:57:06 PM
You're probably right. I use that watermark on my football photos. Maybe I'll change it.
5/8/2006 2:58:06 PM
It would probably look fine on football, against grass, but the yellow is kind of out of place on those photos.
5/8/2006 3:00:24 PM
I need to stop looking at this threadit makes me want to spend money on a decent camera
5/8/2006 3:06:58 PM
Docido what settings did you use to take a picture of the moon like that?
5/8/2006 3:49:33 PM
Minime:Since my 20D has a crop factor of 1.6x, my lens at 300mm is essentially at 480mm. I could get a 2x converter but I dont feel like spending the green on it. It was on the highest MP setting, 8.2mp. I don't normally shoot RAW so its on JPEG. I shot it at that resolution because I cant get close enough. That way I can crop it in during post processing. I set the camera on a tripod with a cable release. There was some post processing primarily to sharpen the photo and tweak the exposure/shadows/highlights.ISO 100Shutter speed: 1/50Aperature: f11
5/8/2006 4:11:39 PM
And I will own one of these soon enough... *sigh*

Val, man, I was wondering when you'd find this thread way to post the moon image and pwn us all, haha good stuff-ZiP!-
5/8/2006 9:53:42 PM
^^^I used my new 60mm Macro for those shots. The lens pictures is a 28mm USM that was just lying around the photo office.
5/8/2006 9:57:30 PM
Docido's picts look really grainy.
5/8/2006 10:03:22 PM
there is some noise in the mirror sphere one, but the night ones seem pretty sharp-ZiP!-
5/8/2006 10:08:14 PM
I think the one Docido posted of the skyline is kinda loose. I know it is a skyline shot, but there is TOO MUCh dark. Maybe a crop on the top and bottom, or a longer exposure to make the lights a bit brighter. But that's just my opinion.
5/8/2006 10:09:47 PM
^^^^^ ZiP, you KNOW I've been keeping up with this thread; chomping at the bit. My site was down and I was waiting for it to repopulate. But most of all, you know how much of a slacker I am. Haha ^^^I added the noise in all the pics (except for the night shot) on purpose. I added more to the last shot there; maybe a bit too much.I think there is a difference between noise and grain though. I like the grainy quality and naturally hate a noisy photo. For their mediums they are equivalent meaning you generally want less of it in each medium. However I do like the grain quality, but thats a personal preference. I suppose it would be more appropriate on a black and white though.^ Your comments are pertinent Ronny. I generally try to keep the aspect ratio but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to make it an irregular shape photo. The photos that I took are a bit brighter generally but I didnt like the "purple" quality of the sky. I'll manipulate the shot again and maybe post it.
5/9/2006 5:13:16 AM
It is definitely a cool shot, but I think with more emphasis on the lights instead of the appearance of isolation it would be rad. Also, I think if it was in one long panaramic picture, it would appear more expansive and dramatic.
5/9/2006 5:18:30 AM
^haha. You read my mind. I'm making the pano as we speak.
5/9/2006 5:35:13 AM
I'd be totally down for seeing the finished product.
5/9/2006 5:41:36 AM
Holy crap I'm tired. This may not have turned out that well. Can barely keep my eyes open.
5/9/2006 6:44:56 AM
I think it is A LOT better. Nice work.
5/9/2006 6:49:06 AM
Long exposure of the Raleigh Skyline. A 30 second exposure didn't yield much interesting stuff, since the traffic was very light.Oceanana Fishing Pier, Atlantic Beach, NC.Mannequins in COT.Random shot in my parking lot. Not bad for a handheld 1/3 second exposure.[Edited on May 9, 2006 at 7:57 AM. Reason : .]

Good stuff there Ronny. I like the bait shop one alot.

Yoon that panoi'd give the water a little more space, let the reflections die a bit before being croppedbut thats jus me yo
