Um... everyone is saying he's a top 5 (or in some cases people say top 10) QB.No one said he was better than Brady or Manning.I think he's basically dead even with McNabb.Vick isn't losing games to Brett Favre. He's losing them to other top QB's like McNabb... who have a better team around them.[Edited on September 6, 2005 at 5:55 PM. Reason : a]

And you keep watching Favre get blanked by the Lions.Or the other 20 QB's who never even take their teams to big games.hahaha, no reasonable person would try to pass off Brett Favre as a better QB than Mike Vick right now.[Edited on September 12, 2005 at 5:14 PM. Reason : a]

9/12/2005 5:17:23 PM
I can see how you might have taken it that way. What i meant is ~20 QB's in the league are incapable of getting their current team to a big game right now and Favre is certainly in that category.IF you want to compare the all time achievements of Favre vs Vick its not even close, you take FavreIf you want to compare Favre at his peak to Vick at his peak (which he may or may not have actually reached yet) then its Favre and its not even close. If you want to build for the future you take Vick and its not even close.ANd finally, if you want the best Quarterback on September 12, 2005 you pick Vick and its not even close.
9/12/2005 5:24:24 PM
I would take Vick over Favre right nowespecially now that Jevon Walker tore his ACL and is out for the seasonbut I'd almost think the best case would be to have them both and have Favre come in on 3rd down when you actually need a QB who can pass
9/12/2005 5:28:43 PM
9/12/2005 5:38:56 PM
if Vick gets his leg broken tonightthen as of 9/13I will pick Favre
9/12/2005 5:48:27 PM
If Vick has the better game and the Falcons win....will all of you please for the love of god STFU about him being overrated?? And when I say better game I don't mean just stats, I mean making the big plays and getting the job done...winning the game.
9/12/2005 8:08:06 PM
If they lose will you admit hes overrated?
9/12/2005 8:23:33 PM
How about this:We call a mortarium on this thead until the Falcons have played 8 games. At that point we can do a midseason assessment. Then after the regular season we can do another one. Then after the playoffs we can do another one.Personally, I dont wanna have a debate about Mike Vick at the end of each and every week.WHen he struggles against a top defense like the Eagles I don't want everyone overreacting and saying he's no better than Kyle Boller. And similarly when he lights up a shitty defense like the 49ers I don't want everyone calling him the best QB of all time.Try to be at least somewhat objective and mature and lets wait until they've got a few games under their belt before we overreact to 1-2 games.
9/12/2005 8:30:33 PM
I'm down for that.
9/12/2005 8:49:05 PM
i admit, that was a pretty sick run on third down and 6 for the conversion. it's just a shame he threw an INT right after it...but yeah i'm down with waitin til midseason
9/12/2005 9:25:09 PM
So far, against the badass Falcons D, McNabb really hasnt shown me much. Where is this top 5 talent people on here say he has??
9/12/2005 9:36:30 PM
he took a shot man, so yeah when a defender pounds mcnabb in the chest he can throw about as well as an uncontested vickexcept for that last pass he just threw. that was an excellent pass by vick[Edited on September 12, 2005 at 9:52 PM. Reason : ]
9/12/2005 9:47:16 PM
No Vick talk in this thread anymore...but hey...McNabb.....how does it feel to see your team get FUCKING OWNED by the 2nd best QB in the NFL?!?!
9/13/2005 2:09:10 AM
micheal vick
9/13/2005 2:14:14 AM
I think with this game....Vick pretty much solidified his position in the top 5 QBs in the league
9/13/2005 2:19:06 AM
Had to, sorry He is just THAT good
9/13/2005 2:19:36 AM
Wow, it is amazing how many people cant talk shit once Vick backs up his hype
9/13/2005 2:38:10 AM
9/13/2005 2:38:55 AM
you guys do know that it was mainly Dunn and the defense that won this game rightapparently you dont
9/13/2005 3:32:21 AM
9/13/2005 9:00:56 AM
9/13/2005 9:10:17 AM
atleast he was >50% completions. Something i cant say for his brother......but yeah, both vick and mcnabb had a shitty ass showing last night. But Vick had 150 with 1 INT.......and then ran for 60 with 1 TD and 2 fumbles?? Wow, he is god......
9/13/2005 9:31:34 AM
^^did you even watch the game? vick did most of the work on both scoring drives[Edited on September 13, 2005 at 9:34 AM. Reason : I love people who cant think]
9/13/2005 9:34:08 AM
Yes, I watched. Vick made some very good plays, he also made some pretty bad plays. He in no way dominated the game...the Falcons controlled the game with running and defense. Do you think he dominated?
9/13/2005 9:53:31 AM
i liked all his passes that were thrown 10 yards too far
9/13/2005 9:55:26 AM
QBs that had better week 1's than Michael Vick (and yes I know Vick faced a good team, although some of you claim the Eagles suck):Tom BradyCarson PalmerBen RoethlisbergerDrew BledsoeByron LeftwichTim Rattay (yes, Tim Rattay)Peyton ManningGus FrerotteAaron BrooksKerry CollinsMarc BulgerJoey HarringtonJP LosmanI'm not making my conclusions based on week one. If you want to make conclusions, at least make sure week one backs you up.
9/13/2005 10:05:14 AM
Vick had one great pass, and a couple of impressive runs and thanks to his defense thats all he needed to do. He also got sacked a few times and had a few turnovers.

9/13/2005 10:59:07 AM
I wish Trotter had played
9/13/2005 11:05:22 AM
did I mention how skilled and naturally talented Vick is at drawing bullshit penalties like getting pushed out of bounds and getting unneccessary roughness calls on the defense...meanwhile mcnabb gets slung out of bounds, but he's not tagliabu's golden boy
9/13/2005 11:12:13 AM
vick draws a lot of those penalties too because defenses can't get a hand on him all night so when they finally do get a shot they hit him almost no matter where he is just to let out some frustration
9/13/2005 11:31:13 AM
I'm going to start rooting for Vick in the NFC. I could care less really about the NFC but I love all the bitching, pissing, and moaning going on everytime Vick wins a game..
9/13/2005 11:35:57 AM
^sure no problem...just dont ever diss on espn or mtv cause you're the samewhile you're at it, why dont you root for the tarheels cause thats a good way to rile up people on here too]
9/13/2005 11:51:51 AM
Well that makes no sense. My rationale for rooting for the Falcons is that I have no vested interest in ANYTHING in the NFC and it pisses you guys off. If I cheered for the Tar Heels that would be to the detriment of a team I do have a vested interest in, obviously..

i agree with rally's proposal to let this thread rest until midseason or so. there's really no point hashing out the argument each week. by the reactions to vick's game last night, it is obvious that the greatness bar is set quite low for him. my only question is how they justify their belief that all of the quarterbacks mentioned above weren't "great" this week.that discussion can be had in about 8 weeks.^dude, vick isn't the only player on the team. how hard is that to grasp? if vick threw 8/27 for 75 yards 0 TD and 3 INT and ran 8 times for 60 yards and a fumble, and then dunn had a 175 yard game with 2 TD's and another one from duckett, and they wonby a touchdown, would you give vick the credit? would he be better than say peyton manning throwing 22/28 327 yards 2 TD 0 INT and losing to the falcons by 7?do you honestly believe that vick would be the better of the two quarterbacks in that situation? is it never possible for a team to win in spite of poor quarterback play?[Edited on September 13, 2005 at 12:16 PM. 9/13/2005 3:04:54 PM
THEY HAD THE SAME TEAM TWO YEARS AGO WHEN VICK WAS OUT MOST OF THE SEASON AND ATLANTA RETURNED TO "LAUGHING STOCK" STATUS......I'LL ADMIT HE IS NOT THE BEST QB IN THE LEAGUE BUT HE WILL PROBABLY GO DOWN AS ONE OF THE BEST IF HE KEEPS WINNING REGUARDLESS OF HIS SHITTY NUMBERS....THEY DO HAVE A GOOD RUNNING GAME AND A GREAT TIGHT END BUT THE ONLY REASON THEY ARE BOTH AS GOOD AS THEY ARE IS BECAUSE THE OPPOSING DEFENSE HAS TO WORRY ABOUT VICK RUNNING THAT SHIT HIMSELF....HE HAD A SHITTY GAME AGAINST THE NFC CHAMPS GIVE THE GUY A BREAK....THEY STILL WON...THEY WOULDN'T HAVE WON WITH MATT SCHUAB!!
9/13/2005 3:17:50 PM
they wouldnt have won with Vick if Trotter hadnt been suspended]
9/13/2005 3:28:15 PM
See, I knew someone would bring that shit up. Excuses excuses. I mean, McNabb is so good and all, seems he would have been able to score more. And Trotter has nothing to do in relation to how McNabb plays.
9/13/2005 4:14:02 PM
^i like how you ignored this
9/13/2005 4:37:27 PM
I thought Vick was alright considering it was against the Eagles...very effective scrambling, but turned it over too much. (Although I think the controversial one might have been an incomplete pass)That bomb he threw to the 1 yard line was nasty...Anyway, not drawing any conclusions from one week.Although I will say last night was a great example of why I think McNabb is overrated. He is just way too inaccurate out there. He scrambles to buy time, and that is what makes him effective. When he has to stand in the pocket he's a pedestrian starter at best. Just way too many incompletions...
9/13/2005 5:09:09 PM
^plus DeAngelo Hall was owning TO
9/13/2005 6:31:19 PM
7 catches for 112 yardsIf you consider holding a guy to under 112 yards "owning" him, you have pretty low expectations for your cornerback play.
