As was I, but all that is gone now.Personally I'd just prefer they actually develop some talent in-house.
10/16/2004 11:09:26 PM
i was born and raised a yankee fan also. i supported and cheered this team when jim abbot, dave winfield, don mattingly, paul o'neil, wade boggs played for the team. when they hadnt a long championship in a long time.they do develop in house talent, but as of late it hasnt been that good. i mean they still have their farm-teams in the works.[Edited on October 16, 2004 at 11:17 PM. Uh, with the exception of Mattingly (and Abbot sorta) weren't all of those players well established before they became Yankees?I can only imagine how much it must suck to be a Red Sox fan right now.[Edited on October 16, 2004 at 11:29 PM. Reason : .]
10/16/2004 11:29:26 PM
yea but that wasnt the point i was making. the point was that during that time, yankees were not winning world series, let alone goin far in post season. but there were still fans, including myself that supported them.
10/16/2004 11:39:48 PM
^ right there with you buddy
10/16/2004 11:47:02 PM
and that's why we're called "the Bronx Bombers"
10/17/2004 12:12:27 AM
well guess we'll see ya Sox in '05.
10/17/2004 12:51:59 AM
I just don't understand it...how can it come sooo easy for one franchise and be the hardest thing in the world for another....about the 5th inning it felt like I was punched in the gut...I don't even know what else to say except FUCKING YANKEES
10/17/2004 2:56:02 AM
I'm not a Yankees fan by any means... and I particularly hate the fact that baseball has no salary cap (being a Pirates fan and all)...But you can't completely discount the talent they've developed in their system. You can certainly make a case for Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera being the two most important cogs in their championship runs... Also several pieces of their current team were acquired by trading their farm talent for guys that could help them win now... If you give up a Nick Johnson to land a Javier Vazquez then Vazquez indirectly is a product of your farm system...
10/17/2004 7:24:00 AM
^ yea I agree...they are more 'homegrown' then most teams around baseball but they still can and will go out and buy everyone under the sun that they deem necessary (or so Boston doesn't get them)After sleep I still say maybe this was meant to be...when the RedSox finally undo the curse it is going to be something like rallying to win 4 in a row against the best hitting team in the history of baseball...Not saying that it will happen but it would make sense after 86 years of suffering thoughas for right now I'm doing something I never thought I would...tipping my hat to the Yankees...they have put on an offensive show such that I have NEVER seen before
10/17/2004 12:13:59 PM
w00t Yankees
10/17/2004 8:07:49 PM
why doesnt FOX have a GO YANKEES!! banner at all times on the screen
10/17/2004 8:08:54 PM
If the Red Sox don't win tonight I think this series is over...
10/17/2004 8:10:13 PM
yeah me too
10/17/2004 8:17:02 PM
Jeter's ball hit Lowe in the leg, too bad it didn't put him out for the game, that would have been HILARIOUS

You know....nevermind, too easy.
10/17/2004 8:41:57 PM
I think Vick has taken over Hideki Matsui's body.
10/17/2004 8:43:40 PM
bitch slapped over the wall
10/17/2004 9:13:39 PM
that's funny, they threw it back twice
10/17/2004 9:18:12 PM
ahaha, the ball kept getting thrown back on the field
10/17/2004 9:18:38 PM
I would have straight up ebay'd that shit, fuck throwing it back
10/17/2004 9:21:22 PM
and what would be your almighty selling focus?"the ball that a-rod hit in boston, to make it 2-0 in the 3rd or 4th inning or whatever...".... big deal
10/17/2004 9:23:55 PM
just because it's not a game ending hr ball doesn't mean i couldn't get some $ out of it
10/17/2004 9:24:51 PM
finally Matsui doesn't get a hit, he is easily ALCS MVP although they probably will give it to Arod
10/17/2004 9:27:05 PM
I concur
10/17/2004 9:31:24 PM
Lowe is pitching pretty good tonight, now if our batters would just get some hits
10/17/2004 9:36:29 PM
"our batters" , you're on the Boston Red Sox?
10/17/2004 9:37:56 PM
no, he is a fan of the redsoxwhere does it say you cant use the words "we" or "our" or "us" with your favorite team ?
10/17/2004 9:44:58 PM
a book that i wrote today
10/17/2004 9:50:07 PM
don't get me wrong I hate the Yankees but I love baseball more and I recognize the Yankees have been lighting the Red Sox pitchers up and their pitchers as they have done the past 7 or 8 years have become dominant. Joe Lieber is the future of Yankees pitching. The Red Sox pitching has fallen a part.
10/17/2004 9:50:15 PM
is it just me or did they something earlier about Manny being so expensive the Yankess would probably the only team that wanted him when he becomes a FA?
10/17/2004 9:52:10 PM
Dear god its not even the 7th inning and the Red Sox are already getting runs, LOOK OUT
10/17/2004 10:08:49 PM
Looks like NYM410, Konami, and BigPapa, are the only redsox fans still alive in this thread. I commend all three of you for sticking with them even though they are down 3-0Hopefully it ends tonight, but if it doesnt, then your buddies will come back out of the woodwork.
10/17/2004 10:20:26 PM
dear GOD please WALK HIM
10/17/2004 10:22:36 PM
look at that crazy jap
10/17/2004 10:25:09 PM
^my bad - I have been in midterms at business school and not very active in here. that, and I've been watching football all weekend out with friends. I was also unaware that to be a true fan, i needed to post on TWW to be considered "sticking with" my team...whatever - go sox
10/17/2004 10:25:12 PM
Matsui is seeing the ball very well. I say give him the Barry Bonds treatment if first is open
10/17/2004 10:25:33 PM
Cabrera completely missed that no hander
10/17/2004 10:31:20 PM
^^^ so it must be "ironic" that you post like hell when the redsox whoop ass against the yanks in regular season, and when they beat up on the angels in the ALDS, but when they are down 3-0 in the ALCS you blame it on studying?whatever eases the pain[Edited on October 17, 2004 at 10:32 PM. 10/17/2004 10:32:04 PM
BELLHORN what the FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU????????if you're gonna hit .008 the least you could do is play the field worth a shit
10/17/2004 10:37:05 PM
my fucking god..three IF hits in a row...two of them to two of the slowest fucks on the team
10/17/2004 10:37:50 PM
The Red Sox are a poor defensive team... been killing them all year. Not to say that any of those plays were routine, but 3 infield hits in one inning is just excrutiating
10/17/2004 10:38:50 PM
why does FOX have the rights to ANY sporting event...they gay everything up
10/17/2004 10:46:54 PM
Is it just me, or does it seem like if the Sox had a 10 run 7th inning, the Yanks would just come back with a 11 or 12 run 8th?
