would take cowher too in a heartbeat. take your realism elsewhere. this is a message board where our heads stay in the clouds since reality is we suck.

This guy can't even lose with grace. I don't understand why we don't can him now. Would love to hear ssclark opinion now. Are we all just chicken littles?
11/7/2016 9:12:24 AM
I don't understand why you don't understand why it might not be a good idea to fire him during the season. But I think I've come around and wouldn't be sad to see him gone at the end of the season.
11/7/2016 9:13:28 AM
Because we could salvage the season and maybe more than 25,000 people show up for the Miami game? If he is retained after we lose out......there will be riots. You think you have come around??? Curious as to what else it would take.[Edited on November 7, 2016 at 9:17 AM. Reason : We just hosted FSU for a night game and it was like 2/3 full]
11/7/2016 9:16:38 AM
You think the odds are high that a new coach could come in right now and make a big difference for the remaining games?(and sorry, let me be clearer: i have come around, i'm ready for him to go after the season)[Edited on November 7, 2016 at 9:18 AM. Reason : ]
11/7/2016 9:18:01 AM
Our season is lost. Would it really hurt to let Des Kitchings coach the last three games? If nothing else you show your fanbase that 1) you care 2) you are already looking for a replacementDD is an embarrassment. Say what you want about TOB but he did a lot of things the right way.[Edited on November 7, 2016 at 9:27 AM. Reason : Looking back LOL at you people hating TOB. Fired for leading us to Music City against a SEC team. ]
11/7/2016 9:20:10 AM
TOB is long gone. It was time for him to go. Just because DD hasn't succeeded doesn't change that.
11/7/2016 9:33:40 AM
he best beat Carolina if he don't want the lynch mob coming after him.

All people care about is wins or losses but we have been getting better and winning more quarters. when you start with no depth your team loses steam as the game goes on. his coaching seems to be good enough to beat anyone but we lose steam in the 2nd half. last year he was winning the first half and this year he's started to win 3-3.5 quarters. a little more depth and we can turn that into 4 quarters. #trending up
11/8/2016 12:19:34 AM
I think everyone silently knew if he didn't win the FSU game he would be on the hot seat. He absolutely has to win AT UNC. Which is likely to happen given #ncstateshit
11/8/2016 11:14:48 AM
how many quarters did he win his first year in conference play?
11/8/2016 11:28:38 AM
biggest issue for me is IF we lose 7 games in a row to finish the season and go 4-8 (1-7). That's unacceptable in year 4 by everyone. I don't care that we have 3 national contenders in our division...we shouldn't have 5 other losses if that's the case.
11/8/2016 11:53:57 AM
11/8/2016 11:57:07 AM
i always saw 6 wins as the requirement for this year with no excuses. i wouldn't be surprised or upset if he got canned but personally, if the last 3 games are all close, i'd probably keep him another year if it were up to me given the extreme circumstances. I don't think any coach could have done more than 2 games better with the same conditions and injuries. His biggest mistakes were getting rid of Shad and recruiting bambard. He's probably learned his lesson. If he's gone I'll and understand but will always wonder what he could have done if given another chance. Looking at the elite talent Jimbo has and what Dabo has and then the games being pretty even tells me a lot about Doeren relative to them. Its like racing a 97 accord against a corvette and losing by a few feet. No shame to be had ther.
11/8/2016 2:02:34 PM
Very true if the goal is to play in the "horseshoes and hand grenades" bowl every year.

There isn't just one type of wr. We spend most of our time passing to running backs (dayes samuels hines) or slot type wrs (cherry. We don't have wrs we can throw the ball up to, or who are specifically good route runners or really tall. We lost a 6'5 wr and we just don't have that. Its how most teams score in the redzone just throw it up and dbs can't compete with that type of height. We also lost a sr wr and we just don't have that. Its easy to say " its just one position" but I can actually point to plays and rare mistakes made by inexperienced wrs who should be deep in the depth chart costing us gamesWe had touchdowns called back because of wrs lining up wrong. We literally lost the BC game on a wr running the wrong route. Teams load the box and play one on one the entire game and we don't have a wr who can get open or catch a jump ball. Ramos and Riley were those guys. It changes the whole game when you don't have a deep threat and now can't run the ball. You can't coach your way out of that. Meanwhile, our defense shut FSU down until all they could do was just heave it up to 6'5 Murray. They get a top 3 or 4 class every year and have elite wrs and still barely beat us but you won't admit DD outcoached Jimbo.

11/8/2016 3:51:09 PM
those were great balls. the one to dayes was dropped perfectly over the defenders. the one after was also on thr money but the wr was weak and couldnt hold position inbounds. fades are not thrown with zip and are not deep. they just requeire a possession receiver.sure, having an nfl qb who could throw guys open to compensate for lack of wrs would help but thats part of what im talking about. dd and our team have to do so much more just to break even because of the huge handicap.
11/8/2016 4:02:58 PM
Ramos hurts the most as he is the only WR out that has played a snap in college. That being said, we still have Louis/Cherry/Hines/Samuels/Harmon. Sure, Riley's 6'5, but he's also a true freshmen. Also, if he is literally the only WR above 6'2", that says to me that either (a) the coaches haven't prioritized height in 4 recruiting classes or (b) our coaches suck at planning out our roster. This dude wasn't Calvin Johnson/Julio Jones in high school, he was the 147th best WR in his class.Sessoms is 5'8". Not exactly a goal line target.Dayes is our leading catcher not because we are missing a deep threat (Cherry and Hines had the same YPC as Ramos in 2015), its because we no longer have an NFL-caliber QB.That inexperienced mistake that cost us the BC game was by a redshirt sophomore. I don't really consider someone who has been on campus for 3 years to be inexperienced. [Edited on November 8, 2016 at 4:43 PM. Reason : i don't know why i keep arguing about this ]

I already commented on that BS. Duke is 4-6 with losses to Wake (who we beat easily), UVA, and NW and they play in the easy division.
11/11/2016 2:36:27 PM
^... right... 4-6 with DUKE football players. duke players. duke academic standards. duke stadium. duke fanbase. 4-6 is pretty darn good. and this guy actually went 10-2 one year. so, change your comment cause he wouldnt be 4-6 with nc state talent

Makes every opposition coach look like Nick Saban
11/12/2016 2:44:41 PM
Can we fire him yet?
11/12/2016 2:48:02 PM
Thats just a poor excuse. Duke is in the ACC. They have the same standards as us. Stanford and Notre Dame have been able to bring in top talent at academically similar institutions. You can't simply say Coach A would have a better record with coach B's players if it was coach B who recruited the players in the first place. Its not like we are some program where all the little boys dream of playing. Under TOB, we saw what can happen when our program doesn't have a great recruiter. If he was so much better, he'd be able to beat wake with duke players.
11/12/2016 2:50:21 PM
God dammit shut up. You just compared Duke Football to Notre Dame. Duke has a high school stadium. And just a reminder: http://www.espn.com/college-football/boxscore?gameId=333130150

spread was 7 and we only won by 15 ... should shut down the program.
11/12/2016 8:24:44 PM
still able to get to realistically make a bowl. won't be easy but today was basically a must win in that regard...not mathematically, but makes the road to a bowl that much easier. thought we might be in for a long day after Cuse's first drive, but the D settled in (and their back up QB began to actually look like a back up)/
11/12/2016 8:35:03 PM
the only issue i have with the win is it makes it harder to bitch about that pass play on the 2 yard line at the end of the first half.just such a classic dd example of not knowing your own personnell

Iowa's kicker, a true freshman walk-on from North Carolina, hits 33 yarder to beat Michigan

ouch

^^ LOL didn't see he was from north carolina.(also, )
11/13/2016 4:03:55 PM
^^^That was painful. Between Iowa and Pitt winning on good kicking, we'd have lost, at most, 2 games if we had a decent kicker.
