^finally some thorough analysis.

lewis is a great offensive player, at least in the half court, but as you would expect he is an atrocious defender. his defense is basically equivalent to vandenbergs offense
3/24/2013 12:09:02 AM
^^i get that your trying to emulate JayBee and trying to be objective/trollishbut come on dude, lewis is not the reason why we lost that Miami game.[Edited on March 24, 2013 at 12:10 AM. Reason : slow]
3/24/2013 12:10:01 AM
hey, like i said, i thought Lewis played great when Brown was out, and I agree thus far, he's been the type of player who needs to get into the flow of the game to play wellbut his solid stats in a few games with big minutes didn't lead to any wins, so lets not act like Lewis should've been getting 28 minutes the last few gameseven though The E Man is the only person really saying that
3/24/2013 12:15:48 AM
I didn't say that. I just said that we had depth and chose not to use it.
3/24/2013 12:16:51 AM
"Depth"
3/24/2013 12:20:43 AM
so if we win that miami game, which we lost on a last second tip in, would you be saying the same thing?edit: and no one is saying he should have gotten 28 minutes per game. All he proved through that stretch is that he is a baller and shouldnt have been sitting on the bench for so long.[Edited on March 24, 2013 at 12:23 AM. Reason : derp]
3/24/2013 12:21:50 AM
LEWIS = BALLER
3/24/2013 12:24:32 AM
WE NEED = BALLERS
3/24/2013 12:26:29 AM
So he's gone. Right?
3/24/2013 2:41:28 AM
Why? Do you think he'd leave to be an assistant for the new UCLA head coach?
3/24/2013 8:54:20 AM
Maybe he's refering to the Hofstra job.
3/24/2013 9:10:15 AM
We will run 4 guard play next year, just like Carolina.
3/24/2013 10:42:11 AM
Playing small ball is our only hope next year. Lots of teams have done it effectively.Barber, Purvis, Turner, Warren, Anya would be a ridiculously athletic lineup. Not a great team, but definitely causes some matchup difficulties
3/24/2013 11:23:24 AM
NIT NIT NIT
3/24/2013 11:46:15 AM
that team would avg 10 rebounds a game and anya would have to pick one end of the floor to stay glued to because he'd be gassed after 5 minutes
3/24/2013 11:49:57 AM
Nope. Wed get enough lose balls that we wouldn't get killed on the glass. I expect barber to be a good rebounder
3/24/2013 11:52:06 AM
small ball teams that work usually play 4 out 1 in with the 1 in being an upperclassman who is super athleticanya is the antithesis of that
3/24/2013 12:21:43 PM
we are going to get a non-rookie Forward via JuCo/transfer or something - i mean it just HAS to happen. No way we roll Vandy/Anya all year next year, just no way...
3/24/2013 12:34:35 PM
We would be a better rebounding team playing small ball than with vandenburg in there. The key to basketball is to play your most optimal lineups. Usually that involves playing your best guys even if its a non traditional lineup. Unc is a great example of that. They sucked monkey sac when they insisted on james and hubert. When they rokled their best two players hairston and bullock out there they are suddenly susan solid.
3/24/2013 1:31:02 PM
anyone think there's a chance we go super small at any points next season (lewis, barber, purvis, turner, & warren)?[Edited on March 24, 2013 at 1:37 PM. Reason : typing is hard]
3/24/2013 1:34:29 PM
Bullock has been playing for them all year
3/24/2013 1:34:52 PM
3/24/2013 2:04:27 PM
No bullock was only playing 67% of minutes bc roy was too stubborn to play him and hairston together much
3/24/2013 2:06:21 PM
i would be much more receptive to the small lineups if warren had shown any inclination to wanting the play the 4 at all this year, but he didnt
3/24/2013 2:11:35 PM
why is it impossible for Anya to get in shape over the next 7-8 months?
3/24/2013 2:24:10 PM
I don't think gottfried would bench Brown and Leslie.
3/24/2013 2:29:19 PM
Warren hit the glass some towards the end of the year. We are going to go small next year without question or we wont go .500
3/24/2013 2:32:25 PM
we need to go so small that we play Lewis at the 3thats the only way we finish .500 or better
3/24/2013 2:42:57 PM
I'm looking forward to seeing Anya develop with a strength coach like Howell has done the past 2 seasons. With his height/wing span if he can get in good shape and get stronger he could be a starter for at least 3 years for us. Still want to see us go after 1-2 other people in this class (most likely JUCO) that can shoot the ball. Watching the other NCAA tournament games makes it painfully obvious that we need more of that.
3/24/2013 2:44:39 PM
3/24/2013 2:50:52 PM
The problem is that Anya won't be on campus til June at the earliest. I don't see a graduating high school senior putting in the work at home. He would need a strength/conditioning coach in his ear every single day to make it happen.
3/24/2013 3:02:48 PM
3/24/2013 3:14:34 PM
Yeah most guys tend to underestimate the type of conditioning and shape they will need to be in to play at the college level because high school is so easy for them. Its not impossible but I dont think anya will look toned by the start of the season
3/24/2013 3:15:11 PM
As long as he gets plenty of yohimbineRIP GIRLFRIEND[Edited on March 24, 2013 at 3:17 PM. Reason : RIP = BALLERS]
3/24/2013 3:16:42 PM
Anya just needs to get drunk as shit every night and fast every day
3/24/2013 3:18:22 PM
Even if he doesn't do anything til June, that's ~5 months he'll have working with our coaches. Not expecting him to play 30+/game, but it's a little ridiculous to assume he won't be able to get up and down the floor just because a few sources said he was out of shape back in January.
3/24/2013 3:27:30 PM
3/24/2013 3:27:36 PM
why is that suspension worthy? If watching the tourney has shown you nothing else, it shows that undersized but athletic teams can compete. Hell, UNC may just make it to the final four with that philosophy. The alternative is to give vandenburg or an extremely raw anya major minutes and I definitely don't have any confidence in that option.Butler, Wichita St., Marquette, even Temple[Edited on March 24, 2013 at 6:06 PM. Reason : d]
3/24/2013 6:01:14 PM
Butler has a genius coach and they still got out-tuffed.I don't wanna get out-tuffed
3/24/2013 6:17:28 PM
So what's the chances Gott goes to UCLA?
3/24/2013 7:25:21 PM
i'd assume UCLA would go after someone who won at least 1 game in this year's NCAA tournament
3/24/2013 7:27:51 PM
3/24/2013 7:35:27 PM
I think it's concerning Gott hasn't squashed the rumor yet, I'm sure he's aware of it and has been called to comment seeing as it is on ESPN now. It would likely be his dream job but I doubt they would offer him. If he left I would suppose we would try to grab an A10 coach.
3/24/2013 7:36:31 PM
i didn't see anything about Gottfried on ESPNand, fwiw, which probably isn't a ton
3/24/2013 7:45:06 PM
Gott wouldn't even be on their plan B list
3/24/2013 7:50:58 PM
It would be good for everyone except UCLA if he went.
3/24/2013 7:59:00 PM
Why would anyone go after Gott? That doesn't make sense.
3/24/2013 8:16:30 PM
Hmm. I'm starting to see a trend.
