I think they were just trying to show their (Dany and her lady assistant's) close friendship. Or they were trying to show that it was at that point she knew she was going to die - possibly triggering a response from the dragon. For a second there I thought she was about to worg.Do we even know if Jorah touched her with the same hand/arm that is infected? It's higher up on his wrist anyway. I was surprised at how fleshy the dragon was - I was expecting a LOTR style dragon that was basically steel skinned. Still badass, though.[Edited on June 8, 2015 at 1:00 PM. Reason : .]

I think it's hilarious that people were suckered into "team stannis" just because he had some heartfelt chat with his daughter. I think its been very clear from the beginning that he isn't a good person and will do whatever it takes to claim the iron throne.

6/8/2015 1:04:51 PM
The point I'm making is that yes, he did burn his daughter alive, but the reason he did it is because he truly thinks that he is the only one that can save the realm from white walkers. He thinks he is Azor Ahai reborn. Yeah he's delusional (or maybe he actually is Azor Azai), but the way he sees it, he is sacrificing his daughter to save every person in Westeros. The need of the many outweigh the need of the few.
6/8/2015 1:45:03 PM
If that was true he wouldn't care about being king, willing to sacrifice his own daughter but not his pride. He is every bit a psychopath.Edit: as someone else said, he already killed his brother and a bunch of other relatives before he had even heard of the walkers [Edited on June 8, 2015 at 1:50 PM. But he had Melissandre whispering in his ear that he was destined for greatness, and that a long darkness was going to grip the continent if he didn't do something. He just didn't know exactly what that long darkness was.

It's kinda amazing the backflips you guys are doing to say it isn't THAT bad for this guy to burn his young daughter alive.[Edited on June 8, 2015 at 3:42 PM. Reason : Am I being trolled? ]
6/8/2015 3:41:23 PM
I'm not really defending the guy.I guess just after reading the books, nothing really surprises me about this series anymore. Like someone has similarly said earlier...it wouldn't surprise me if the last images we see for this series have Tyrion flayed on that Bolton X, while Ramsay watches from the Iron Throne as Theon rapes (By Ramsay's orders) Lady Olenna.I mean, we've already seen the bodies of two well-done toddlers brought to you by Theon. At least they didn't show her in the flames. I read the comments before watching the show, and I was afraid that was what happened.
6/8/2015 3:50:08 PM
That was me. And the question is not whether the show ha reached a new low, although that was pretty close, but is Stannis an evil psycho or not. I say he most def is, with no question.
6/8/2015 3:53:53 PM
Uh, the dude already committed regicide/fratricide when he killed Renly with an evil shadow baby. He had lines like "What does blood matter in war" and "We do not choose our destiny but we must do our duty.". He's got some underlying morality, maybe feels bad about the things he's doing, but his personal sense of duty and justice overpowers all else. It's the same "quality" that prevented him from retaliating when Jon refused his offer to go to Winterfell. Unfortunately, it also enabled him to burn his daughter (and only living heir) alive :/[Edited on June 8, 2015 at 4:11 PM. Reason : .]
6/8/2015 4:10:18 PM
^ But in this world, Stannis has seen divine proof that the Red God is real. And he's seen firsthand what the blood of a king can do. I'm not saying what he did was right, but there was certainly some logic to it.
6/8/2015 4:11:49 PM
In his mind its probably either her, or the life of all of his men.
6/8/2015 4:16:26 PM
Which is still insane. Any actual parent would take their children and run. Fuck the men, let them die in the snow.
6/8/2015 4:17:13 PM
Eh, no reasonable parent would've taken their child along on a campaign. Stannis is not a reasonable parent.
6/8/2015 6:05:47 PM
^^^^^at least renly did something and even the people he burned on dragonstone had a chance to "repent" or something. Not saying those deaths are justified, but shireen is 100% innocentand stannis doenst care about his "men," he just had a bunch hanged for basically no reason. arent most of them mercenaries anyway?
6/8/2015 7:03:14 PM
I hate that greyscale girl died, but I'm really depressed that there's only one episode left. This show is so good. There's nothing even close GOT. I just binge watched House of Cards and it's getting old fast.I could watch GOT every night.
6/8/2015 7:38:22 PM
I had no idea who the Sons of the Harpy were fighting for at the time of the attack since I was under the impression they were being paid/led by the masters but they were still killing all the Masters' leadership. But I think now my theory is that the Sons of the Harpy are the unrepresented middle class. Clearly the most important and prominent groups are the slaves, who are poor but likely the majority of the city, and the masters who control most of the wealth. However there are certainly plenty of citizens who don't fit in those classes, free people who don't have the wealth to own slaves. Craftsmen, small business owners, and probably most importantly police and soldiers. They probably took the masters coin but saw this as an opportunity to seize power from the masters.
6/8/2015 7:39:10 PM
not that it necessarily means anything, but the sons also had on both masters and slaves garb and were killing both masters and slaves. they hate everybody.
6/8/2015 7:43:35 PM
So does him sacrificing his daughter for the royal blood mean we'll get another shadow assassin doing their dirty work? Or does it mean that they'll just get some favor/blessing for the upcoming battle? Previews led me to think one way, but feel like some people skip those week-to-week and didn't want to spoil anything with the next episode previews.

i don't believe the shadow assassin came from the blood of kings. i think it came directly from stannis. big red made a comment about how stannis didn't have the strength to do it again, implying it would kill him if they tried to hibbidy dibbity one

Oh man that is some gymnastics to justify someone who murdered his daughter. Maybe the books have some crazy plot point to make it more justified, but the show has not crossed that long bridge.[Edited on June 10, 2015 at 10:20 PM. Reason : shrikes picture kinda sums it up]if he ends up being rewarded, or winning or whatever, for this, then this show may go down as the most depressing show in history. and i watched Top of the Lake. I feel like his weird blend of being incredibly headstrong yet yielding to melisandre at virtually every turn has to catch up with him at some point
6/10/2015 10:50:23 PM
"I never asked for this crown. Gold is cold and heavy on the head, but so long as I am the king, I have a duty … If I must sacrifice one child to the flames to save a million from the dark … Sacrifice … is never easy, Davos. Or it is no true sacrifice" - Stannis
6/11/2015 7:53:03 AM
^^ This is the second time now that he went against Melisandre's advice and suffered heavy losses for it. It makes me think that maybe Melisandre is somehow intentionally causing these losses to manipulate him into always following her in the future.

Damn you book readers really have to show off the fact you've read the books despite being asked dozens of times not to spoil anything?

6/11/2015 1:17:30 PM
^^ what book information is on this page?
6/11/2015 1:40:05 PM
At most, all I did was quote one thing that Stannis said in like Book 2 or 3?
6/11/2015 1:41:17 PM
oh, i thought that was a show quote (the quote in the show must be very similar)what you did broke the rules, you can't mention the book here
6/11/2015 1:47:39 PM
Hey guys, this is a show based on a book, but we are not allowed to mention the book.WACK
6/11/2015 1:50:54 PM
I enjoyed the Stannis quote. I just don't want to know where the show is vs. the books and things like that, that could subtly give clues. I was referring to Shrike's post but after reading back some more I can't tell if he's read the books or not.
6/11/2015 1:53:20 PM
The quote is almost identical, but it was easier to just grab it from the book.^ Lulz Stannis' plot is farther along in the show than the books. I don't see that as a spoiler, it's more implying the trope of breakout character exists in the TV world. Bron wasn't supposed to stay around in the original plan developed by the show's creators, however, he was so popular they kept him around. You can say the same for characters like Felicity from Arrow or anyone from here http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BreakoutCharacter[Edited on June 11, 2015 at 2:01 PM. Reason : a]

There is a thread to talk about the book and show all you want, why even mention book stuff here?
6/11/2015 11:09:51 PM
goddamn there are some butthurt people here who don't know what the fuck a spoiler isif Bronn didn't do shit in the books, but now in the show he is a main-ish character, how is saying he didn't do shit spoiling anything in the future? if anything, it's an anti-spoiler, because it means the people who read the books have no fucking clue where his storyline is going.y'all some illogical motherfuckers[Edited on June 12, 2015 at 8:44 AM.
