javi was hurt to start both seasons and to finish last season....just for the record.

While I'd of rather gotten Favors or Cousins (just so we're clear), Davis sound promising. No, he probably won't be another Jack McClinton, but it seems that he has a lot of positives. And we still have two scholarships available next year.
3/24/2009 4:46:41 PM
I honestly don't really care at this point. If that was our last scholarship I'd have been mad but it wasn't. At the same time I don't want us just using our scholarships because we have them. There isn't anyone else out there that we can sign that people are going to be happy about. All the talent is gone except for John Wall. Other than him there is no one we can sign for this class that is going to make an instant impact on our team or be a sure bet to make an impact for us in the future.

^^Spurlock?^Hell yeah.
3/24/2009 5:09:54 PM
We stopped at BoJangles on Jones Sausage Road today and who should walk in but future Memphis players ( ) John Wall and CJ Leslie.A friend of mine said that I should have gone, "You know, John, they don't have BoJangles in Memphis."Hindsight is 20/20

3/24/2009 5:17:03 PM
^ I'm not really impressed, but that can be attributed to watching the Cousins/Favors/Wall videos the past couple months.
3/24/2009 5:18:50 PM
^^^^he would be the only one. Do you really think we have a shot at him though? Will we even go after him now that we picked up someone like Davis?[Edited on March 24, 2009 at 5:19 PM. Reason : ]
3/24/2009 5:18:51 PM
not to shit on former players, but I think Davis will contribue more over his tenure than ferguson.Yeah, I have no idea about Spurlock, but I'd see no reason not to take him, despite picking up Davis. We could use as much incoming talent as we can get, at every position.[Edited on March 24, 2009 at 5:23 PM. Reason : ]

furthermore, Shrike, where is all this information you are claiming about these pros saying hes a garbage...please post it as i am sure lots of us want to read it[Edited on March 24, 2009 at 5:30 PM. Reason : b/c i havent read any of the sort]

solid built kidsomeone who can hold his own down on the block and get some reboundsthats what we need, someone who is willing to do the dirty work and get nasty down there, someone strongSmith is under sized but dang if he didnt make some ACC boys look like chumps this year.if this guy comes anywhere close to developing like Smith, we should be ok although Id still like a legit big man, maybe howell can become that guyImagine a Howell, Davis and Smith lineup with CJ and LoBrown, thats not bad for an undersized squad.it aint all about height its about heart when it comes to rebounding.
3/24/2009 5:36:22 PM
3/24/2009 6:16:37 PM
an increase in athleticism is categorically good for us.
3/24/2009 6:19:58 PM
I actually think Tracy was top 50 unless he slipped late. At one point he was 45. I am kind of excited about this kid based on what I've read, but seriously, its like nobody on these fucking boards (with some exception) can just enjoy this stuff for what its worth. The recruit either sucks or he's the next steph curry. Lowe either sucks or he's the next Coach K. Get some perspective people. Its never as bad or good as it may seem.
3/24/2009 7:37:31 PM
^Tracy Smith finished at #70 overall on scout for 2007

I think the point was that there are no other offers listed on Scout or Rivals.
3/24/2009 8:27:32 PM
do they not? they mentioned them in the article.
3/24/2009 8:28:19 PM
Tracy Smith was #47 overall on Rivals and the #10 PF. Scout had him at #70 overall and the #18 PF. Solid player anyway you put it though. I mean hell Taylor King was rated above him and he sucks.
3/24/2009 8:29:46 PM
^^ Yeah, no offers listed on Davis' page on either site. Which article are you talking about?[Edited on March 24, 2009 at 8:31 PM. Reason : ^]

I don't believe that watching NCSU basketball when he was in 9th grade (3 years ago?) made him fall in love with us.
3/24/2009 8:49:34 PM
we were actually pretty good that year, at least until february and march iirc[Edited on March 24, 2009 at 8:52 PM. Reason : wrong year]
3/24/2009 8:51:21 PM
^x4 Actually I was just trying to point out what a pleasant surprise Tracy has been this early on in his career at State and that he has really developed into a reliable player for us. He may have actually been underrated coming out of HS b/c he lost all that weight during his senior season. I expect him to be one of the stars next year and probably make All-ACC.[Edited on March 24, 2009 at 8:53 PM. Reason : ]

3/24/2009 8:54:10 PM
^^ lol, yeah i think that's what he means.
3/24/2009 8:55:12 PM
I think most people that have seen Wood play know how good he can become once he gets into a college weight program. That has been the only knock I've seen on him still. This year he has become more than just a pure shooter, and has improved his passing, dribbling, and driving skills since he was forced into playing point guard this year.
3/24/2009 8:57:03 PM
^^^^obviously we don't know how well kids will do until they get here, but we had been recruiting wood before anybody else was really giving him any looks and now he's in a tight race for mr. basketball honors.monte towe was also on staff with norm sloan and played a big role in recruiting lowe, whittenberg and bailey.[Edited on March 24, 2009 at 9:12 PM. Reason : champ]
3/24/2009 9:11:17 PM
i wonder if it's a big ego slam to work under someone you recruited 30 years ago
3/24/2009 9:37:21 PM
It's possible Davis fell through the cracks because he played for a low-hype AAU team (rather than say D-One), grew a lot late in HS and wasn't even at the Carolina Challenge that Telep/Scout put a ton of time into with regards to NC/SC recruits most of the time. It's also possible he's a scrub. Whatever. I'll wait until he gets in school to judge. I like that he actually wants to come in and work on his game, unlike some players we've hadbtw I really doubt Scott Wood is going to win mr. basketball in indiana. We had people saying Mays was in the running for that last year too when he really wasn't. While I think Scott has a better chance than Julius, that has more to do with the fact that there isn't a Tyler Zeller running around in Indiana this year than anything else
3/24/2009 9:37:22 PM
wasn't davis a 2 star yesterday? hes only one star now?
3/24/2009 9:39:51 PM
he committed to state, and thus loses one star.
3/24/2009 9:43:28 PM
like how duke and unc recruits are McD AA's, ours lose stars...damn
3/24/2009 9:44:28 PM
^^^^Scott set it off this year, even with Zeller not there he has a very good shot at being mr. basketball, only thing in his way is that the other frontrunners are going to indiana and purdue]
3/24/2009 9:45:50 PM
3/24/2009 9:50:09 PM
he's being evaluated. that's what it means.
3/24/2009 9:57:34 PM
3/24/2009 10:47:25 PM
I realize its too early too know, and it sounds like Davis is a project-in-the-making, but 3rd highest scorer in NC (didn't I read that?) and NC-SC all-star MVP ain't too shabby.
3/24/2009 10:49:02 PM
3/24/2009 11:12:28 PM
