The marvin austin videos......
the fact that those videos were allowed to stay up on their website just speaks to how shitty they are over there on the hill.

Yeah don't worry, those videos are extremely fresh in the minds of our players, especially our 3 returning senior starters on the O-Line. The trenches are going to be busy on saturday.

The ironic part here......

Austin says "They wanna wear these jerseys." Now, Austin "wants to wear them jerseys too," but he can't cause the NCAA won't let him. I just think its funny that his loud mouth got him into his current position. hahahahaha

Dear Marvin,
5 D-linemen from ECU were drafted or invited to training camp this year and 3 of them have signed with teams. I guess they didn't need your gay ass jersey after all.

BOOM

"Money trail ties agent, ex-UNC coach"

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=cr-uncagents092910

Quote :
"But three sources said documents show the relationship between Wichard and Blake also extended into the financial realm several times over the past three years. Those instances included:

• At least six wire transfers from Wichard’s private bank – The First National Bank of Long Island – to Blake.

• A $45,000 personal loan to Blake from The First National Bank of Long Island.

• A Pro Tect Management credit card issued in Blake’s name.

A source familiar with the secretary of state’s probe told Yahoo! Sports that Blake has discussed the existence of the transactions with investigators."

Quote :
"At least one document from Austin’s two trips to California has a direct reference to Wichard’s agency, Pro Tect Management.

A copy of a hotel receipt obtained by Yahoo! Sports displays Austin as a guest at the Residence Inn in Westlake, Calif. from July 23 to Aug. 1, 2009. Located a half mile from the Pro Tect offices, the hotel charged $1,802.08 to an American Express, while listing Austin’s name above ” Pro-tect Management” [sic]."

You guys expecting the death penalty will be disappointed. SMU got punished for an institutionalize scheme of paying players. They didn't get the death penalty until the NCAA found out they kept paying players after being punished b/c SMU felt it was their obligation to financially support poor players they promised to give money to.

They only way UNC will get the death penalty is if they have an institutionalized program of cheating for players after the hammer gets dropped for this scandle or they keep bringing in known runners/agents to sponser their players. This won't happen when they fire BD and bring in the football equilivant of Les Robinson.

Best we can hope for is loss of scholarships, post season ban, and forfeit wins. But the stigma of being cheaters will last for as long as I'm alive to bring it up to my UNC friends.

yeah never will be the death penalty on a program in a BCS conference too many issues and too much money to be lost

Yeah, the funny thing is this doesnt even really include the Chris Hawkins shit, dude was clearly a runner/tangled up with the AJ Green saga, coke, agents, etc. and the whole tutor gate shit, which I truly believe they would have been able to sweep under the rug in classic Carolina fashion should the other improprieties not have come to light.

this part was very very juicy as well... some skullduggery no doubt.

Quote :
"Both Blake and Austin have met with NCAA investigators, and also sat for testimony in the secretary of state’s probe earlier this month. Balmer has not been interviewed by the NCAA, but did testify for investigators from the secretary of state on Tuesday (didn't know balmer got subpoenaed). Silber said Balmer was never asked about specific hotel receipts involving Austin.

Prior to Austin testifying for the secretary of state earlier this month, Austin’s attorney, Lyons, asked Silber to provide a receipt proving Balmer had paid Austin’s lodging expenses during his trips to California. The receipt was meant to back Austin’s testimony to the secretary of state that he believed Balmer had paid for his lodging during his trips to California.

Silber responded with one page – a portion of a receipt for a 35-day stay at the Westlake, Calif. Residence Inn, spanning February and March. The one page, which was the final page of a multi-page bill, listed Balmer as the hotel guest. Silber told Lyons this was the room Balmer and Austin shared during Austin’s March visit to work out at ProActive. Lyons subsequently turned that bill over to NCAA investigators, believing it exonerated Austin of any wrongdoing.

But Yahoo! Sports obtained the full multi-page bill for that 35-day stay, and it featured a discrepancy from the one page provided to Lyons. On the bill obtained by Yahoo! Sports – which was authenticated by a hotel employee – there are lines listing “Pro-tect Management,” and the former business address of Wichard’s agency. Those lines appear beneath Balmer’s name. However, the receipt provided to Lyons had deleted the Pro Tect information.

Questioned about that discrepancy, Silber said he removed the Pro Tect information before sending the receipt to Lyons. He also said he didn’t notify Lyons of the changes to the receipt. Asked why he took those measures, Silber said it was to protect Balmer’s “personal information.”

“The problem here was that Mr. Lyons had no authority to produce that document to either the secretary of state or the NCAA in that form,” Silber said. “Unfortunately for him, he didn’t know the information had been redacted. We simply redacted it for the privacy of Mr. Balmer. … Mr. Balmer has the right to take off private information.”

Asked why a public business address for Wichard’s agency was considered private information, Silber said, “Where [Balmer’s] bills get sent is a private matter.”

But Balmer’s 35-day stay at the Residence Inn wasn’t the lone receipt produced. Yahoo! Sports obtained a second bill under Balmer’s name for a seven-day stay that overlaps with the 35-day stay.

The receipts, which were authenticated by a hotel employee, show Balmer held two rooms at the same time for seven days. The rooms were paid for on different credit cards. A fourth-floor room was held for 35 straight days, from Feb. 6 through March 13, and accrued a bill of $4,682.78. Another fourth floor room, located 20 doors away, was reserved at the same time from March 7 to March 14, and accrued a total of $1,260.29. The two bills were paid with different credit cards. The 35-day stay was paid on a Visa. The seven-day stay was paid on an American Express – the same type of card used to pay the July stay that lists Marvin Austin alongside “Pro-tect Management” and marketing agent Mikhail.

Additionally, the seven-day stay matches up with the University of North Carolina’s spring break in 2009. And travel records show Austin took a Delta flight to Los Angeles on March 6, followed by a departing flight out of Los Angeles on March 14.

Asked to explain the existence of this second overlapping room, Silber said he wasn’t aware that the second receipt under Balmer’s name existed.

“I’ve never seen it, so I can’t comment on it,” Silber said. “I’ve not heard any testimony about it. You’re the only person who has ever told me about it. … My stance is I don’t know anything about it.”"

Yeah but an assistant coach isn't going to bring the whole program down. UNC can easily say they didn't know what Black Santa was doing.

With SMU the coaches, AD, and administration were directly involved in paying players after being punished by the NCAA.

The whole point of having an assistant do the dirty work it so BD and those above can have deniabiltiy. I don't believe for a minute that the AD or administration were directly involved in either scandel (BD on the other hand had to know what was going on). But I think the AD and above were complicit in allowing the atmosphere of a lack of institutional control b/c of the hype surrounding the program and the embarassement of losing to State for 3 years.

I'm sure BD will deny any knowledge of this (and he may be telling the truth for all I know), but the fact of the matter is that he should have known something was up. And he's the HC...someone's got to be held responsible. Him knowing/not knowing would effect UNC-CH's punishment from the NCAA...but either way he should lose his job IMO. No way someone who is even remotely connected to this type of thing (wasn't he best friends with Blake long before UNC?) should be fired.

I think it's kind of funny that they thought that the one page with the missing Pro Tect Management information would pass for exonerating Austin. Imagine them giving that to the NCAA investigators and saying "boom bitches you ain't got shit on my client," and then the investigators say, "sit down for a second," as they try to leave the room. They then pull out the authentic receipt and and say "mind explaining this then."

Ok. The fans, university, and coaching staff don't believe they should beat State every year in football. Plus, the fact that they pay BD more money than Williams yet they have never won a national title much less multiple titles doesn't put any pressure on them to beat their in-state non-rivals. Their message boards support this as well. Sorry. That was way out of line.

[Edited on September 29, 2010 at 11:45 PM. Reason : And getting beat 41-10 at home 2 years ago didn't put any additional pressure on them either.]

according to Brakk on PP (who seems to be the most credible guy out there), here's what we can expect:

1. another sport implicated (assumed baseball)
2. information from other agents including Drew Rosenhaus that will rock this thing
3. Butch's knowledge of the tutor's shenanigans
4. infractions dating back to 2005

couple things to think about:

1. according to this report, Austin's trip was paid by his high school coach...money laundering from the agent through the coach? recruiting violations?
2. Blake "resigned" but was still paid $75k. why? hush money?

Yes, I do. But I never said anything about:

Quote :
"let's hire a dude to pay players so that we beat state."

The fact that them losing to State 3 years in a row after hiring BD who is paid more that Roy didn't have anything to do with the lack of institutional control over their football program is laughable. You don't think their donors don't have to listen to State fans talk about beating them year after year? I guess in your mind they aren't our rivals and they don't care about losing to us.
