wtf was this!?

I liked it. Refreshing to get out of the prison for an episode.

Really liked it. Reminded me of the Last of Us.

[quoteI liked it. Refreshing to get out of the prison for an episode.11/17/2013 10:47:33 PM[/quote]agreed. It's interesting to see how other survivors in other scenarios are coping.

I liked this episode for a change of pace. I rolled my eyes when I first saw that the governor was back, hiding in the bushes, but I like the direction they have taken with showing us his downward spiral after the massacre. How long has the zombie apocalypse supposedly been going on at this point? I find it hard to believe the two women, a little girl and gramps have survived this long, especially without knowing how to kill a zombie.
11/18/2013 7:44:12 AM
I thought everyone assumed it was going to be entirely a flashback of the Governor going into last night's episode? I just figured based on last week and the previews that it would be the focal point of at least 1 episode, next week looks like another Governor centered episode.Did anyone else think the mom of the little girl that the Governor met up with, looked like Maggie in the face? I thought it was a bit odd, haha. ^I too found it interesting that these 4 people survived as long as they did without knowing how to successfully kill a walker. I mean they did clarify that the lady across the hall had left town before she turned so that left the free apt to roam, and perhaps just every other person had their door shut and kept the walkers at bay, but still, they've been at this for months.I also found it very coincidental that just as he shows up, it's "1-2 days" before he is out of oxygen or is going to survive. Also amazing how easy it is for these people to twist/sprain their ankles on flat ground in this world, haha.
11/18/2013 8:09:12 AM
they had all the supplies they needed in the house, they never went out, except to shoot the upstairs neighbors everywhere except the headmy prediction:he turns on the "bad" guys in this Martinez's groupthen he convinces the girls that he is a "good" guyand he rebuilds a new group, and then the horde takes it all away from himso he goes to kill rick and co. and is standing in the bushesalso, did carol ever meet the gov? does she know what he looks like?]
11/18/2013 8:10:13 AM
I thought it was comically awkward when the governer was hooking up with the mom in the back of the van, while the sister and daughter were right there.[Edited on November 18, 2013 at 8:44 AM. Reason : i kil't ur gramps, and now im backbending ur mom. straight governing ur life, bitch]
11/18/2013 8:27:01 AM
<shrug> That's how we've done it for most of our species' history and they're in the post-apocalypse where every night could be their last. I'm surprised it took them that long to bwn.

honestly...this episode felt like the first hour of a video game. Meet main character. Character meets NPCs. First Mission = search for backgammon board in creepy apartment. Encounter first zombie. Second mission = rescue oxygen tanks from nearby building. Encounter first real wave of zombies.]

Rewatched the 5th episode before last night's episode. Anyone catch that the guns Rick & Carl used on the fence-breaking walkers were being stored OUTSIDE??[Edited on November 18, 2013 at 10:09 AM. Reason : That GA humidity]
11/18/2013 10:09:31 AM
^I saw that, and I thought it was odd.
11/18/2013 10:48:20 AM
Also, glad to see the Governor enter beast mode when he fell in that pit, especially after he bitched out at the old folks home.
11/18/2013 2:11:13 PM
^^^^^i thought that was carol's voice tooi've really been enjoying this season, but upon my initial watch of last night's episode, it was my least favorite. super slow, and i don't think I care about the governor anymore (i really didn't care about him before). those were some of the more gruesome kills of the series though. i saw on talking dead that they used raw bacon for throat-guts.[Edited on November 18, 2013 at 2:14 PM. Terrible
11/18/2013 7:12:45 PM
What would you rather have seen? A bunch of characters you're not familiar with coughing from the flu?
11/18/2013 7:21:26 PM
i wouldve rather seen them advance the plot for oncethe governor was past his expiration date halfway through last season
11/18/2013 7:40:14 PM
i enjoyed it. good to see a different side of the governor.
11/18/2013 8:05:03 PM
I think that lady is going to end up being related to Maggie. They looked alike.

11/18/2013 9:40:01 PM
i liked the change of pace a lot better than i liked watching herschel hand out teawhat if carol has joined martinez's group? or is she gone for good from the show?
11/18/2013 10:18:36 PM
I liked that they showed a different group...I just wish they had SOME bit of Rick and the crew in that episode.I just hate the Gov.Guess they are trying to make him likable.

11/19/2013 8:01:31 AM
He looked a lot like Snake Plissken in that gif, haha.

11/19/2013 9:36:09 AM
if some of you guys hate every episode, why do you keep watching and bitching?this was probably one of the best episodes of the series thus farthe turning point for me on this show was when Sophia came out of the barn, it was terrible, but I cant think of another time I have been "punched in the gut" so hard by a TV showand they should have called this episode "last pale light"]
11/19/2013 9:41:01 AM
I don't understand why people watch episode after episode of a show they claim to hate either.I really enjoy the series, but during my first viewing, this was one of my least favorite episodes so far. Too slow, and I don't really care for the governor's character. But breaking away from the prison for an episode was probably a good idea.
11/19/2013 9:44:51 AM
My wife watches it and she values time spent with me on the couch watching stuff she likes to watch. That's probably the same reason everyone else who doesn't like the show but watches it anyway. That being said I'm liking this season a lot more than the previous ones.
11/19/2013 10:01:05 AM
The show has deviated enough from the source material, can we just say everyone in the prison died from the plague and pretend like it never existed and continue on with a marginally more interesting show?
11/19/2013 10:33:54 AM
nah
11/19/2013 10:35:53 AM
I thought it was a good episode, and was nice to get away from the prison. I'm a bigger fan of exploring the world, seeing what's out there, how other people are surviving, what you find on the way, etc.As far as the gov'r is concerned, there's definitely a bit of disconnect between the atrocities of last season and sort of kind of rooting for him now, though I'm not sure that's what the writers even want.I could buy a "breaking bad"esque type of explanation though (and I stole this from something I read on Yahoo earlier). That the backstory of the governor is that he started out will well enough intentions, but things just kept going further and further until he turned into a monster. Can he become good again, or at least not as bad? I could get behind that I think. I don't think I would buy that he becomes a hero and returns to the prison with a white flag and wants to be part of the group...but maybe he brings his new daughter there and then dies or something

Worst episode of the series and its not even really close. I'm all for breaking away from the prison and getting character development but that was just awkward and painful to watch
11/19/2013 8:38:44 PM
I disagree. I enjoyed this episode a lot... even though i was not looking forward to the governor, the way they took his character intrigued me. [Edited on November 19, 2013 at 8:45 PM. Reason : ]

Enjoyed the episode. Nice to take a break from the same 'ol shit at the prison.
11/19/2013 9:21:23 PM
my wife and i both thought the sister looked like andrea
11/19/2013 9:38:22 PM
^Andrea? I thought she looked like Maggie as well.Anyone notice that wild dogs were eating zombies on that last episode? Someone on the previous page or two told me animals weren't praying on zombies.Boom!
11/20/2013 12:11:20 PM
lol, I saw that as well.... apparently the writers read threads that criticize minute details
11/20/2013 2:09:00 PM
so when are we gonna see them pooping and stuff?
11/20/2013 2:22:04 PM
so why did the governor choose sardines (for the thousandth time) over fresh, home-cooked spaghetti-O's?
11/20/2013 2:55:43 PM
I wondered the same thing then I put myself in that scenario. You dont know those people and have no idea their intentions...its being cautious and not getting poisoned or drugged or eating something contaminated. While that sounds stupid, it makes sense to me and the survivalist part of my brain.
11/20/2013 2:57:37 PM
i think it goes more to show his "i lost everything" mental anguish.[Edited on November 20, 2013 at 3:19 PM. Reason : ]

on Talking Dead, he touched on it a little bit that he didn't want to be indebt to them for taking their food. he didn't want to have to owe them anything and be tied to them in any way.
11/20/2013 3:26:20 PM
But he did take their food, and for all they know, he ate it.[Edited on November 20, 2013 at 5:07 PM. Reason : i was also thinking that he might be scared about poisoning]
11/20/2013 5:07:15 PM
^^ yeah that is a stupid reason. He did take it and for all they know, ate it.I like the poisoning idea better.
