Fasting Myths Debunkedhttp://www.leangains.com/2010/10/top-ten-fasting-myths-debunked.htmlgood read...this is the protocol I follow: 16 hour fast/8 hour feed...women should go 14 and 10, respectively

You saying you eat twice per day? Semi-related question. Is it possible over time that an increase in volume of food has stretched my stomach a little leading to a feedback loop where it takes more to fill me up and then marginal amount of overeating expands the stomach more? The logic here is if stapling the stomach helps to make you feel fuller faster, then the reverse can be happening. I don't really eat outright unhealthy food, I just it too much of it and I'm not working out nearly as much as I used to.

I feel what you described has happened to me. I'm no longer cursing my daily calorie needs. I eat dinnerS lol. I think maybe it could be mental...

^^^ I eat 2-3 LARGE meals per day (totaling between 2700-3000/per day to maintain/recomp)alsoYes, it's possible. If you eat until you are physically full you will eventually become less sensitive to the stretching sensation, which can actually physically stretch your stomach (if done enough). This is why gastric bypass sometimes fail...people eat through the uncomfortable stretching feeling and stretch it back out to their normal size. In order to "restore the tightness" so to speak, just make sure you never eat until you are full (just satisfied)[Edited on October 22, 2010 at 5:30 AM. Reason : ]

Its good to see people still sticking with their routines and setting fitness goals for themselves!I haven't posted in or paid attention to this thread for a while. It's been 2 months since I've been to the gym. My surgery was just over six weeks ago and I was finally able to remove my arm sling two days ago. In that time my arm muscles have shrunk considerably compared to my other arm I don't doubt that I've lost muscle mass all around and the scale shows that I've lost between 10-12 lbs.I plan on restarting a cardio routine next week as well as a few lower body exercises that won't involve me flexing or tensing up my bicep muscles (not to mention I can't put much straing on my shoulder just yet) Doctor's orders are not to curl anything with that arm that weighs over 1lb till December So sadly it'll be a while before I'm back in my usualy lifting routine.

ive recently traded in my hiit for long steady state cardio. (i mean i will do hiit from time to time but most of my cardio will probably be longer ss)they gym is the only time i really get any "me" time anymore so honestly, i like being able to unwind for longer. its gonna cut into study time, but i feel so much better after a long long run and much more....rejuvenated. ill let yall know how this goes

this is a serious question for someone with experience with uppers (or someone with a vast knowledge of drugs, aka Joie)should I be doing P90X if I'm going to be taking Adderall twice a day??
10/22/2010 7:12:25 PM
You should be fine, just don't overdo it before you know how your body is reacting to the drug.
10/22/2010 7:51:29 PM
Have you thought about working out in the morning before you take them? It's generally not the best idea to do intense cardio soon after caffeine or any other stimulant, but you have to take your meds and just be aware of your body. Since you are young and I assume healthy I wouldn't worry too much about it.
10/22/2010 7:55:00 PM
Hah, healthy.I'm on metformin for insulin resistance and uppers for hypersomnia... I don't think I'd call that particularly healthy. BUT. My endurance is very good, ask begonias.. she tested me.I guess I just didn't know if anyone had suggestions on what I should limit myself to time wise, or even what types of exercises...
10/22/2010 8:29:32 PM
you should be perfectly fine as a matter of fact, it may increase your strength (as it increases your sympathetic tone) but remember to eat!!!!![Edited on October 23, 2010 at 11:18 AM. Reason : i actually have a test on sympathomimetics on monday! ]

Joie, I bet you still look great! Dont stress too much things sound like they're crazy now but will be back to normal soon. I haven't posted much mostly because I've spent the last 7 weeks at the doctors doing testing. I had posted a while ago about the swings in weight gain and how it wasn't water weight, how I wasn't gaining muscle anymore, how I was tired all the time, etc. Well I found out I have Cushings, a rare disease where my body is producing too much cortisol. We just finished the last round of testing and am waiting to hear back. They're trying to determine where the tumor is so we can get this sucker out and I can go about living a normal life again. I'm expected to have full recovery and finally lose all the weight my body has been packing on. Ps I apologize for any grammatical errors. Im typing this on the iPad and the keyboard isn't my friend right now.
10/24/2010 12:26:35 PM
Good luck
10/24/2010 1:04:50 PM
^^oh nowes! good luck with that!ive had two friends recently been diagnosed with that and one of them was entirely stress related!! you got this girl!
10/24/2010 11:13:44 PM
yeah they did the stress testing and it's not stress related. and thanks. i don't know anyone with it - it's pretty rare from what i've been reading on it. we're just waiting for the last round of tumor testing to come back before my MRI.
10/25/2010 8:07:28 AM
Oh my goodness, Cass!! I'm so sorry you have to go through all that Please keep us posted...
10/25/2010 10:19:53 AM
^^ ps that was actually me posting
10/25/2010 12:25:18 PM
Hope they figure it out soon Cass!! I know uncontrollable health problems suck majorly!!
10/25/2010 12:26:48 PM
thanks everyone. it makes a lot of sense now as to why i've been having the hardest time losing weight and feeling good. my GP kept dismissing it for over a year so i sought out an endocrinologist on my own. this sounds kind of odd for someone to say but we're kind of hoping its a tumor. it's an easy surgery (they can go through my lip, into my sinuses and retrieve the tumor - if its in the pituitary gland - without actually having to crack my head open) and usually after, people can go off medication completely and go on to live normal lives again. if there is no tumor, then i might be on medication forever.i wish i knew someone, anyone who has gone through this so i could talk to them. i found one website that has a message board but most of the people who post on there are either much older or have had health problems ongoing for quite some time. so basically, if anyone knows anyone and they're willing to talk to me, i would appreciate it. [Edited on October 25, 2010 at 1:19 PM. Reason : more]
10/25/2010 1:18:32 PM
I thought evan had a tumor on his pituitary gland?
10/25/2010 4:42:38 PM
^^ ...i dont know about humans, but in dogs they can also have a tumor on their adrenal gland. have they checked that? just seems like it may be an even easier surgery than have to go to the base of your brain...[Edited on October 25, 2010 at 7:33 PM. Reason : .]
10/25/2010 7:31:19 PM
They are checking both but in humans the tumors occur twice as likely in the pituitary than in the adrenal. Obviously if the tumor is in the adrenal it would be easier to remove but we're waiting to see what these tests say.

I'm down to my lowest weight... 154 lbs. Still the same in inches though.. hm. But I only measure waist and tummy so could be somewhere else. Anyway, I was like 160 last week so I'm going to attribute this to the Adderall
10/27/2010 9:24:25 AM
I'm trying to avoid turning into the bloated holiday version of myself, but man is it fun to heat Pumpkin stuff.
10/27/2010 9:38:35 AM
I finally broke 170 lbs...I was 169 yesterday morning. A year ago this time I was in the low 190s. My wife bought me some 32" jeans and they fit! There was a point about 6 years ago when I was wearing 38" and a little over a year ago I wore 36".
10/27/2010 9:52:30 AM
^^^ Congrats! You may also just be a smidge bloated from diet/girl stuff ... hence the weight loss without the loss of inches in the waist.^ Congrats to you too!Taught my first spin class yesterday and I'm going to be teaching every Thursday ... and I may try to start teaching a few more classes each week if I can pick up the shifts. This is great motivation to get in shape ... nobody wants to hire a flabby instructor. The challenge about this time of year is that the wine flows like water. Pumpkin isn't a temptation, but holiday social events are. Pumpkin is super healthy for you, though, Kirk. My gfs and I made homemade pumpkin pancakes this weekend and not only were they tasty, but they were relatively healthy![Edited on October 27, 2010 at 10:20 AM. Reason : d]

I'm about to hit my stop weight of 220 already this year before the holidays, which could be bad news. Guess I'll be joining this thread again soon. At least I'm 6'3 so 220 isnt so bad but still definitely need to drop a few pounds off again .

sam must have diesel legs
10/27/2010 11:33:55 AM
Is it normal to get sore if I don't lift for a few days? Usually day 4 or 5 I will wake up and just feel stiff and achy all over. Most of the time when it happens I've run or something in the meantime, just not lifted weights. It's a good reminder to stop being a slacker, though.
10/27/2010 12:08:14 PM
