On the Market downloads page I've had two apps stuck on "Installing" for a couple days now. The apps work fine, but I can't cancel the updates or anything. I've had other apps update just fine since then, but the two are still stuck on the list.
10/20/2010 3:37:37 PM
you should just be able to go into Settings-Applications-Manage Applications, find Market and hit clear cache.

Has anybody with an Incredible been having more frequent random reboots lately? It may be since I've been using custom ROMs lately (tried both Cyanogen and Virtuous) but I really think my random reboots have gotten worse.

Looks like late November for Froyo on all US Galaxy S branded devices.http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/21/samsung-comes-clean-with-galaxy-s-froyo-upgrade-dates-all-carri/

^ That meshes with what I've read on various forums.

Anyone using Tasker? I installed it tonight to hopefully get a better grip on my notifications (cutting off/on at the appropriate times) and some of the other useful things that I've seen people doing with it. It appears to be a bit like Locale but better from what I keep reading.http://lifehacker.com/5601133/push-your-automated-android-to-awesome-heights-with-these-tasker-setups

What are some good/not too expensive screen protectors for the incredible that can be found locally?
10/22/2010 2:24:13 PM
^do you really need one?http://www.androidcentral.com/verizon-htc-droid-incredible-scratch-test
10/22/2010 2:58:42 PM
You can't really go by those scratch tests. Apparently these screens are great for keys in tests but it doesn't take much to get scratches from dirt and everything else in your pocket or dropping it.
10/22/2010 3:35:58 PM
I've had an Incredible since launch and my screen is damn near flawless after all sorts of drops and stuff. I'm pretty bad with phones. *shrug*
10/22/2010 3:44:52 PM
fuck I am stuck on an angry birds level that is like impossible to beat
10/23/2010 12:47:32 AM
me too!2-21 in the first set (poached eggs i think)what about you?just found these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utk_vM6RZas[Edited on October 23, 2010 at 1:12 AM. Reason : .]
10/23/2010 1:09:25 AM
I've had a Palm Pre (tough plastic face) in my pocket for over a year and no marring scratches. I also did my best to keep anything else out of that pocket, but still, nothing. I can't imagine a glass screen needing any further special attention.
10/23/2010 1:17:44 AM
lol so I'm gonna have to go have my phone hard reset. Goodbye angry birds! Goodbye programs I paid for... yuck!
10/23/2010 7:38:47 AM
The paid apps will show back up in Downloads once you log back into your google account after the reset. You'll just need to re-download them but won't have to pay again.
10/23/2010 8:10:49 AM
Anywhere to get a cheap/decent Incredible case locally? I see some $3 ones on amazon, but I'd like to get one quickly and avoid shipping. I don't have the money for a nice one at the moment.
10/23/2010 10:58:53 AM
I have two droids (lg ally and droid x) and I started playing angry birds on the ally and am on level 4-14 and figured out the game shows more detailed graphics on the droid x and is easier to play on the larger screen. Too bad the progress cant be moved phone to phone. pwnt
10/23/2010 11:17:10 AM
you actually apparently have 0 droids
10/23/2010 5:46:02 PM
damn these angry birds

Does anyone have any experience with any of the Remote Desktop/Terminal Services programs? And if so, which ones (need it for servers at work)?
10/25/2010 11:17:17 AM
logmein is good and requires minimal set up and you can also access it from a pc. Phonemypc is cheaper but you may have to forward ports in the router.
10/25/2010 11:55:43 AM
XtraLogic Remote Desktop Client is my favorite. Uses the RDP protocol.
10/25/2010 9:22:22 PM
Any one know how to beat angry birds 5-20
10/25/2010 9:26:26 PM
^I just did a vertical" attack". 2 aimed for the center and one each for the sides. It was only 1 star but I was just trying to beat it the first go around. Haven't tried to go back yet.
10/25/2010 9:41:12 PM
10/26/2010 12:12:48 AM
I'm not gonna look at my phone to figure out how I beat it, and you know there is a whole thread dedicated to this game, don't you?http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=603587you've posted in it twice...Anyway, just to keep you from triple posting the same thing in here, just go to youtube and search angry birds and the level (angry birds 5-20 in this case) and there will be video guides on how to get 3 stars on every level of angry birds.[Edited on October 26, 2010 at 8:45 AM. anyone found a way to sync google tasks (from google apps)? I swear I looked for this/asked about it before...
10/26/2010 11:38:41 PM
^ I use gtasks. I'm not a huge tasks user so I can't say whether it's really perfect or not but it works for me.
10/27/2010 7:26:47 PM
Any reason I should get a different phone over the Droid X?My contract is up with AT&T in November and so I can go to any provider and from what I have looked at the X is the best available. Any personal user opinions is appreciated. Also, would it come with 2.2 on it? If not is that really a big deal? I am not the most tech savvy person but I can figure most things out so I wouldn't imagine upgrading would be that big of a deal.
10/27/2010 7:40:23 PM
^mine came with 2.2 and it's about 2 weeks old so I'd assume that any new one will now. I'm really happy with it but if you know that you're going to want to be really serious with modding then it's not the best choice. It's just not quite as "open" as other choices. I'm rooted and there's nothing that I feel like I'm missing but some others don't feel the same way due it being a bit more locked down at the core.
10/27/2010 8:16:18 PM
I really don't care that much about modding at all and in all honesty I will be shocked if I root it or anything like that. I might do it so I can tether but I really don't care otherwise, I have a blackberry now so I am used to having a device that doesn't do all kinds of stuff
10/27/2010 8:27:41 PM
I've had the X and the Fascinate...you can't go wrong with either. Basically, I picked the Fascinate because it felt better in the end and wasn't as big in the pocket. And the screen was simply way more stunning.
10/27/2010 9:46:57 PM
I less than three screen size. the slightly (IMHO) better screen of the fascinate didn't seem to mean more to me than the larger screen. so between these two, either pick screen size (which is awesome to have) or a somewhat better screen (picture). Personally, I don't see how/why you would need a better screen on a phone... when the one on the DX is pretty damn good and gives you lots of area.
10/28/2010 12:19:08 AM
My Vibrant is overclocked to 1.6GHz, and it fucking flies... huge fan of the Samsung Galaxy line.
10/28/2010 1:13:20 PM
The only real thing the X has over the Fascinate is screen size, internal storage and Froyo. The first is personal preference and storage will pretty much be a moot point when the Fascinate finally gets Froyo. The Fascinate has the better processor, gpu and screen. Anyone who says the screen is "slightly better" is smoking something. And from just playing around with the X the overall navigation is much smoother on Touchwiz than blur/no-blur.
10/28/2010 1:24:36 PM
^ agreed on all points.
10/28/2010 5:17:44 PM
I saw on the reviews of the fascinate that the default search engine is bing and there is no way to change it besides rooting, how hard would changing something like that be for someone who has never really messed with these phones?
10/28/2010 5:37:06 PM
they have one-click root methods all over the place. step-by-step instructions on every android forum for every droid phone
10/28/2010 6:15:57 PM
bing will also be removed with the Froyo update
10/28/2010 6:58:02 PM
10/28/2010 7:04:07 PM
Go to T-Mobile or ATT and get their Galaxy S variants and you don't have to worry about bing. Also rumor: Samsung might be making the Nexus 2. There's also a possibly separate rumor that it'll basically be a modified Galaxy S. If that's the case I won't bother with the phone and wait on the Motorola Olympus (tegra 2 phone)[Edited on October 28, 2010 at 7:24 PM. Reason : asdf]
10/28/2010 7:24:37 PM
are there any android phones coming out with a front-facing camera? the wife and i are finally gonna take the plunge on smart phones and we'd like to have the video chat option. i'd contemplated waiting on the iphone, but the lack of flash really bugs me.
