Yeah that's kind of how I've been. I watch calories and try to get protein but I seem to be losing fat and gaining muscle and getting stronger at the gym and running so I'm happy. Last night I managed to get about 800 calories from beer and still get my 500 deficiency for the day.

soooo i'm going kettlebell mountain biking this weekend. This involves carrying kettlebells while mountain biking and taking breaks from biking to do kettlebell workouts. This sounds fun.

^ that sounds awfulAnd I have lost so much discipline on my workouts. Im hoping to kick my butt in gear in the next week or so. Not having my bootcamp workouts three days a week have kind of hurt Blargh
9/29/2010 11:43:42 AM
That sounds like a weird mashup of exercise to me. Like ice skate-boxing, or volleyball horseback riding.

^^ It's ok to take a break every now and then to let your body recuperate. If you go too hard for too long you can damage yourself and your gains won't be as dramatic. Just because you temporarily stop working out or working out as hard doesn't mean that you are immediately going to blow up like a blimp. You'll be surprised at how fast you can gain back anything you lose after taking a break and how fast you will be back where you left off when you decided to take a break.

omg first post in here ^^^Z was SUPPOSED to forward you an email I sent him. It was a groupon or somesuch deal: $25 for a month's worth of bootcamp classes. I'm sorry if he did not do this.--I just posted this in another thread:

^it's really really hard to find it for women, but i did find this...both of these pics are supposedly 5'8 and 140
10/3/2010 5:15:04 PM
^well that makes sense right? Fat is more dense than muscle? That's why BMI isn't a good measure. To be accurate you need to measure your actual body fat percentage. Muscle weighs a lot more per volume than fat. Why people should be more concerned with body composition than body weight. I stopped caring so much about my weight because if you gain lean muscle and lose fat that net loss number doesn't have as much value as your actual composition percentages.[Edited on October 3, 2010 at 6:54 PM. Reason : s]
10/3/2010 6:53:58 PM
No, everyone has the exact same bone density, muscle and fat percentages. BMI is a flawless indicator of physical condition.

So im doing a weight loss competition in my apartment however there is a problem.its 2 guys vs. 2 girls.how can we compute stuff to see who wins? should we do it by % lost or is there a formula that includes body fat percentage?
10/4/2010 8:47:47 PM
i found these online and thought they were interestingDISCLAIMER: I DO NOT NECESSARILY BELIEVE THESE ARE COMPLETELY ACCURATE. I JUST FOUND THEM AND THOUGH THEY WERE INTERESTING AND MAY LOOK INTO IT MORE!! (the only reason i put it into all caps iis because i've noticed that lately people have been jumping to conclusions really quickly )anyway according to this website/blog/whatever where you put on weight the easiest may be determined by hormones:heres the post:http://www.healthhabits.ca/2009/08/12/hormones-problem-areas-and-your-body-fat-map-part-2/[Edited on October 5, 2010 at 4:20 PM. Those models must have been designed by a man; the dude doesn't have genitalia, or even nipples, and yet the woman has a belly button and even has a camel toe.
10/5/2010 5:16:14 PM
They don't really look like they were created by the same person/software... but yeah, I noticed the same thingSo uh... Where's the one for beer bellies?
10/5/2010 5:42:24 PM
Joie, part of the map for women is actually true. When I went to be evaluated for my insulin problems the doctor informed me that's one reason I could gain weight in my stomach/love handle area predominantly, because of the high excess of insulin being secreted from my pancreas and thus storing itself in the fat cells around itself. It also makes sense for the triceps because that is one of the first places I also notice fat cells going to (besides my belly)... I feel like the fat that I've lost almost 4 inches in my waist and at least a few in my arms without any large body measurement changes elsewhere go along with that theory, too
10/5/2010 6:56:14 PM
So I'm at 190, again, after a couple of weeks being downtown and surrounded by restaurants and high calorie lunchesmeant to take measurements this morning, woke up late..love handles are disappearing 5 lbs from goal!
10/11/2010 6:14:05 PM
Although I am not strutting my half-nude body in this one, here's me after my half-marathon on Sunday. Will probably do some other shots later but I can tell I am making some progress even without them.
10/12/2010 6:43:15 AM

So, looks like I'm becoming a spin instructor/zumba instructor/group fitness director for a gym. Can anyone recommend any good workout music? I need some good spin tunes to add to my playlist.

10/14/2010 9:52:15 AM
don't worry so much about your weightmine can fluctuate between 7 - 10 lbs in 3 or 4 daysgo off how your clothes fit
10/14/2010 10:09:25 AM
Amen to that. The scale is a nice measuring tool to help us keep in check, but your pants are the best measuring tool. Unless you only wear spandex. So, today I'm starting the South Beach Diet. Due to a new gig with a startup gym, my biz partner wants me to get ripped. Goodbye, chocolate.
10/14/2010 10:47:28 AM
why do douchebags just sit on the machines when there are no other ones available and they're not actually DOING anything? are they just too weak to move after their grueling workout? afraid someone will take the machine while they're taking a 15-minute break...jeebus, it gets on my nerves
10/14/2010 10:58:23 AM
and 1 week off isn't gonna kill all your running progress
10/14/2010 11:06:38 AM

i have a question for ya'll.why are protein powders included in clean diets?the ingredients are anything but "clean".
10/17/2010 7:52:48 AM
Most gimmicky "diets" make it hard to ingest enough protein, especially if you are working out regularly.
10/17/2010 8:32:33 AM
so it's not a clean food. its an exception.its just kinda funny for people to hard knock over processed terrible food in the name of clean eating and still drink like 2 shakes a day....[Edited on October 17, 2010 at 11:06 AM. Reason : just sayin...seems very unnatural. ]
10/17/2010 10:57:55 AM
What exactly is a "clean diet"?Protein shakes are, by nature, processed. But what is so terrible about them? The fact that they aren't all-natural? Maybe I just haven't heard the 'clean diet' moniker before and don't know the theories behind it.
10/17/2010 11:25:29 AM
yea im curious as to what the "clean" means..I looked at my whey protein and the only thing that doesnt look "clean" is the artificial flavors but thats to make it not taste like complete ass. Maybe protein shakes without artificial flavors?everything else looks legit though
10/17/2010 1:34:49 PM
i use protein powders.i see nothing wrong with them.i just find it weird to be considered a "clean" food.
10/17/2010 1:39:28 PM
anybody used the ON natural 100% whey? How's the taste?
10/17/2010 1:47:17 PM
if you're worried about clean, how about a protein shake with eqq whites and fruitI use protein Post Workout Only...is it necessary? Def. not, but I think it has benefits when it comes to recovery. If that's the worst thing you're eating, I wouldn't worry too much ON Whey tastes fine
10/17/2010 2:41:44 PM
My mom just got a protein shake mix from the Home Economist in Charlotte. 22 grams of protein per serving and like 110 calories. 100% vegan. From like pea protein and stuff. Tastes like ass. Still technically processed I guess because it's blended veggies.[Edited on October 17, 2010 at 4:31 PM. Reason : s]
