Does anyone know of another product that does the exact same thing as this,http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-LiquidAUX-Auxiliary-Remote-iPhone/dp/B0011UK2HEexcept cheaper? Seems crazy that this is the only product of it's kind that I can find. I'll probably buy it anyway if it is, but I would like some options if they exist.

needs clam shell adapter with full keyboard and supplementary battery capacity
5/29/2009 4:08:18 PM
i still don't understand why people think the iphone needs a keyboardi admit, i was a hater at first... but i can actually type faster on it than i can on a physical phone keyboard.
5/29/2009 10:08:59 PM
its weird... it works better when you just type fast as fuck and just trust that its going to work. When you hunt and peck carefully it sucks
5/30/2009 10:24:01 PM
i have found that to be fairly accurate as well. i just wish it could keep up with my typing speed[Edited on May 30, 2009 at 10:33 PM. Reason : .]
5/30/2009 10:33:35 PM
it needs to have a way to customize the autoword thing. How many times do you type words like "Fuck" and they come out "Duck" because it auto corrects it. I like how it does but it should let you go into iTunes or something and set preferences.

i think with the realease of os 3.0 and new compatible hardware...there will be plenty of external keyboards that plug into the dock out there..potentially bundled with a word processing app.. i mean, the new os would make this possible..right? would be useful for mobile blogging, and lecture notes...and everyone can agree that the current virtual keyboard promotes brevity in emails.more recent talks of oled screens too...id love oled on the new iphone, but ill be happy with the speed increase and camera. there are screenshots of the autofocus cam in use floating around online i think.[Edited on May 31, 2009 at 2:18 AM. ^^add words like that as contacts in address book. yeah, it'll look weird to have "fuck" listed as a contact, but it won't change it to "duck" ever again... although i do find that funny more often than it annoys me.
5/31/2009 2:48:20 AM
on the latest beta i've noticed when it switches from 3G and EDGE it goes to no service for a minute or so. the very first firmware on the first gen model did the same thing and it was annoying as fuck.
5/31/2009 1:29:30 PM
i haven't been keeping up on this, but has apple modified their mail program to have a single inbox? nothing kills me more than having to go forward and back in multiple email accounts to mark messages as read. talk about a PITA
5/31/2009 2:08:30 PM
5/31/2009 2:11:44 PM
agreed.although i've actually just forwarded all of my mail to one account to help remedy that. kind of stupid i have to but whatever
5/31/2009 2:16:24 PM
yeah that's always been slightly irritating to me as well, but honestly i'd probably be more annoyed if it were combined. maybe if they had it so that when you were in account A, you could tap the header at the top where it says Inbox (1) and a dropdown would appear where you could quickly switch to another account's inbox
5/31/2009 2:21:35 PM
I used to hate the unified Inbox, but once I started receiving so few emails in my multiple accounts, I've really started to learn to like the combined Inbox in Mail.app.
5/31/2009 2:32:38 PM
5/31/2009 5:57:08 PM
it should be an option, not mandatory.i agree it could be annoying..but also useful.
5/31/2009 6:02:38 PM
maybe a unified inbox isn't the best solution, but there needs to be a better way to clear off or check emails from multiple accounts than having to click like 30 times. it's the opposite of productive.
5/31/2009 7:13:24 PM
i can always count on you for a pointless argument...the iphone keyboard promotes brevity...period.fucking agree or you are lying...seriously

I vote to ban glass from tech talk (again)

Has anyone had issues ever trying to sync their outlook calendar to their iphone?
6/1/2009 8:56:50 AM
define issuesand what version firmware/outlook/itunes you're using.
6/1/2009 9:04:50 AM
I dunno. I don't have an iphone yet and this is something I would be doing a lot of if I got one. Just wondering if it is easy. Or works at all.I'd want to sync my work calendar. It outlook from an exchange server. I wouldn't need it pushed over the air... just synced via the cable.
6/1/2009 9:22:01 AM
i haven't had any problems. although you'd be crazy not to just do it over the air so everything is always synced. it doesn't cost anything extra to do it that way.

has anybody seen anything on whether current 3G owners will get a reduced upgrade price when the new iphone is released? i assume there's no info yet since the phone hasn't even been announced yet. i'm thinking about whether it makes sense to sell my 3G now since they are low in supply at stores and buy the new one when it comes out. i just don't want to have to pay full price, whatever it ends up being[Edited on June 1, 2009 at 12:59 PM. 6/1/2009 1:13:43 PM
^^considering that's what they did when the 3G came out, i don't see why they wouldn't. it's ultimately up to AT&T, though.
6/1/2009 2:49:28 PM
the original iphone wasn't subsidized. the last one was so it's not really a fair comparison in my opinion.they'd be crazy to not give a discount to those of us who bought the last one and the one before that, though.
6/1/2009 3:51:53 PM
more like...
6/1/2009 3:58:06 PM
20%? when i got my 3G i paid $299 for it. without the upgrade discount it would have been $499 i believe. that's significant enough for me to keep what i have
6/1/2009 4:03:36 PM
Yeah I don't see anything that would make me pay $499 or whatever the price would be for the unsubsidized one. I've got my GPS and 3G which was all I was really missing and MMS will be a firmware fix.. so yeah, I won't buy unless they subsidize it again.
6/1/2009 4:06:53 PM
What is different hardware wise that makes this next iphone better than the 3G? Isn't the 3.0 os upgrade gonna take care of most of the complaints?
6/2/2009 9:14:02 AM
the phone hasn't been released yet, so nobody can comment with certainty. that said, it's been all but confirmed that the new version will have a 3.2MP camera with autofocus plus video, a built-in compass, and more storage. I think that's all the hardware changes that have been leaked. But, yes, the 3.0 software will probably make the biggest difference.
6/2/2009 9:19:04 AM
how bout a way to reply to text messages while i'm syncing
6/2/2009 4:21:02 PM
Sweet! Sims 3 just came out today for the iPhone. Also the AT&T app is on the app store as well (not sure if that was there before or not)
6/2/2009 4:30:53 PM
at&t app has been out for a whileand theres no way theyre not gonna let current owners get the next one at the subsidized price
6/2/2009 4:35:10 PM
i've been using http://www.google.com/mobile/default/sync.html to sync my google calendar, contacts and gmail to my iphone. with my new job i have an exchange email account. when i tried to set up the exchange account on my iphone, it said the iphone only supports 1 activesync configuration. anybody here run into the same problem?
6/4/2009 9:39:27 AM
Yeah I have the same problem. I eventually just caved and synced my Google Contacts/Calendar with my Outlook at work. Then I just set up a regular Gmail account
6/4/2009 9:40:48 AM
Yea that's what I've had to do ^
6/4/2009 9:48:04 AM
Thats gay. So you cant just sync it with outlook?
6/4/2009 1:03:03 PM
Dunno, i sync mine through an exchange account from my domain and mobileme.. they work fine together. outlook is also synced with them both so everything everywhere stays synced.
6/4/2009 1:18:47 PM
Front facing camera!
6/4/2009 1:58:20 PM
where? beside the green dot? even with moving all the levels around in photoshop i can't see shit besides a dot that looks like it was photoshopped in.
6/4/2009 2:06:39 PM
wtf?even if real how would it be available today?
6/4/2009 3:27:27 PM
i mean, it looks to me like someone is trying to imitate the screen that we'll see on the day it's releasedbut seriously.. copy/paste that picture into your favorite editing program, zoom in and start playing with all the levels.. there's nothing there besides a dot that looks horribly fake up close
6/4/2009 3:35:12 PM
It's a grainy picture of a computer screen. Are you really expecting to zoom in and find something?
6/4/2009 3:44:46 PM
i would expect to at least see a grainy camera lens
