DL should be solid. Most of the guys saw a lot of minutes last year

Welcome, Jon Tenuta.[Edited on February 11, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Reason : http://www.und.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/tenuta_jon00.html]

Gonna guess it's a 'no' based on the thread getting locked on PP.
2/11/2010 11:05:24 AM
would be a great hire
2/11/2010 11:17:15 AM
Hendu started a seperate thread regarding Tenuta on PP premium. What is the skinny? [Edited on February 11, 2010 at 11:25 AM. Reason : ?]

Nothing definite, but have heard Tenuta's the guy at LB coach. Currently unemployed with Weis getting let go at Notre Dame.
2/11/2010 11:24:47 AM
Why not just make him DC
2/11/2010 11:31:33 AM
Viewing his credentials, if he does stay... it will not be for long, unless he is offered a DC job.
2/11/2010 11:42:42 AM
That's ok with me. Norm Chow only stayed a year but it was nice to have him while he was here.
2/11/2010 12:43:04 PM
2/11/2010 12:47:55 PM
tenuta is basically a lock at this pointi think its an interesting hire because he's known for blitzing and we run the most passive piece of shit defense ever but he's still a great coach so whatever. the guy doesn't care for recruiting but I don't think that'll be a big deal if he's only here a year or two
2/11/2010 1:10:44 PM
this is fortunate news
2/11/2010 1:33:43 PM
Holy fuck we got Jon Tenuta? Hell yeah finally some good news for NC State. Fire Archer yesterday and put Tenuta at DC.
2/11/2010 1:35:50 PM
2/11/2010 1:38:01 PM
2/11/2010 3:36:11 PM
wouldn't surprise me if Tenuta wasn't hired in case Archer just happened to "retire" or something.
2/11/2010 3:40:06 PM
no way that would happen... that would be a fantastic chain of events.... and we are after all NC STATE
2/11/2010 3:42:18 PM
Holy hell is this can't be possible. Getting Tenuta is amazing and would go a long way in pulling in some of the top defensive talent in the state. Hopefully Stephone Anthony, the top linebacker in the state and quite possibly the top player overall in state for the 2011 class will want to play for him.
2/11/2010 5:03:31 PM
holy hell what a great fucking pick up
2/11/2010 5:05:36 PM
Hopefully Stephone Anthony, the top linebacker in the state and quite possibly the top player overall in state for the 2011 class, whose favorite class is US history and whose grandfather worked at an Exxon in Kannapolis during a rough patch with his second wife just after the war will want to play for him.
2/11/2010 5:12:26 PM
Makes sense, remember how they were talking about ND coaches following TOB's staff around and offering the talent that we wanted as well?this is a HELL of a pickup.if he can work on that secondary, hells yes.
2/11/2010 5:30:54 PM
great hire, only wish we could have wrapped him up before signing day and maybe gotten him to bring moore and shembo with him
2/11/2010 5:44:52 PM
HOLY SHITI can't believe we just picked this guy up.Next step: promote to DC.
2/11/2010 6:00:09 PM
NC State shit will happen. He'll get cancer or some shit.
2/11/2010 6:09:15 PM
SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTH
2/11/2010 6:13:40 PM
2/11/2010 6:33:16 PM
The only concern I have is how long will he stay? He seems to bounce around a lot and considering hes going for a DC at ND to a LBC at NCSU, he might want more next year.
2/11/2010 7:40:45 PM
and TOB would be a dumbass not to give it to him..fuck archer
2/11/2010 7:42:59 PM
I imagine for him to go from DC to LB coach, there must be some "DC in waiting" clause to his contract. Otherwise it would not have been to difficult for him to find a DC gig somewhere. I mean shit, did UGA even find anyone willing to be their DC yet?
2/11/2010 7:43:50 PM
Uhh this guy is one of the best DCs around. Great news!Is he seriously going to serve under Archer?
2/11/2010 8:00:08 PM
hopefully he serves under Archer about as much as Cheney served 'under' Bush
2/11/2010 8:03:02 PM
I'll never forget GT holding us to minus-8 rushing yards PR's senior year.

It's funny, I informed my husband of this hire yesterday and he got excited for two reasons: 1. It's Tenuta so our defense should be fucking awesome soon 2. He thought that meant Archer was fired and that Tenuta was the new DC.I have a feeling this may be Archer's last season. No way Tenuta takes a step down (or not go to BC) without knowing he'll make a quick step up.[Edited on February 12, 2010 at 10:04 AM. Reason : .]
2/12/2010 10:01:12 AM
the interview on N&O said he's moving his fam here. I know that's standard and all, but you'd think he'd be around as long as he wants to probably, TOB is not known to have alot of staff turnover. Is Tenuta a 4-3 guy or a 3-4 guy? Archer supposedly loves him some 3-4.
2/12/2010 12:31:34 PM
^ And by Archer loving some 3-4, you of course mean he loves when his defense gives up 34 or more points a game.
2/12/2010 12:57:58 PM
I think Tenuta is a 4-3 guy, but with those two 350 pounders coming in this fall and our abundance at LB we could be switching over soon. As long as one of those guys is good at playing the nose and eating blocks. Didn't TOB mention switching at some point?A 3-4 ran correctly could reak havoc in the college game because of the blocking confusion it causes.[Edited on February 12, 2010 at 1:08 PM. Reason : .]

2/12/2010 1:10:16 PM
yea, well played on the 34 (that about sums it up).I know ND is ND and all, but I imagine Tenuta was pretty intstrumental in getting Te'o and these great LB's to come to ND. He's definitely a known commodity to recruits, much like TOB and Horton are for producing OL'men. So i'm hoping our defensive recruiting really picks up. Getting Stephone Anthony would be great, almost as great as getting Manning and Maddox in the same year.
2/12/2010 3:56:40 PM
lol TAH-NOO-TAH sucks. at least he only gets the LB's and can't fuck everything up. i'll always hold a special place in my heart for him thou...his terrible scheme and inability to adjust helped Navy's offense romp all over ND in South Bend this year for a victory[Edited on February 12, 2010 at 4:18 PM. His terrible scheme kept GT's D ranked in the top 30 for 6 straight years.

Q&A with Tenuta at the N&Blow:http://blogs.newsobserver.com/accnow/qa-with-jon-tenuta
2/12/2010 5:21:53 PM
and he had the 89th ranked defense at Notre Dame this year. hell, state was way better than that, and they didn't have the #8 ranked offense in the country helping keep opposing offenses off the field like TAH-NOO-TAH had
2/12/2010 5:25:00 PM
state had 2 DivII on its schedule skewing those stats a crazy amountND had noneduring ACC play i think state gave up close to 40 ppg and a ridiculous amount of yards per gameactual ACC stats:8 ACC games, 315 points allowed, 39.3 ppg and the best performance was holding UNC to 27.ranked 99 in scoring defense and 106 in pass efficiency defensecomparison is not validyou lose, good day sir[Edited on February 12, 2010 at 5:45 PM. 2/12/2010 5:42:07 PM
good day indeed
2/12/2010 5:50:55 PM
he wouldn't have had any idea of who Tenuta was if Navy hadn't have beaten ND this past yearthe dude is one of the most respected defensive minds in the country and has been for quite some time now[Edited on February 12, 2010 at 6:42 PM. Reason : good day]
2/12/2010 6:41:45 PM
I am putting a lot of weight behind the fact that TOB Archer and Tenuta are already friends and have been in contact with each other for over 20 years.
