slingbox + slingbox app for iphone + jailbroken iphone + app that tricks the iphone into thinking that it's on wi-fi when it's really on 3G + car battery + charging cable and you should be good to go. Aside from that you can always just check the score on espn. :-/

Really Really WANT
5/14/2009 9:21:24 PM
holy SHIT that looks awesome.do want.
5/14/2009 9:34:17 PM
That looks pretty cool. I got Peggle today, it's awesome.
5/15/2009 1:00:11 AM
Mine hasn't locked up or got stupid slow w the new beta. I haven't reset it in like a week..new record.
5/15/2009 6:00:54 PM
I was pretty disappointed in Peggle. I mean, Peggle's peggle, and it's awesome to have it on the iPhone, but after playing it on the DS, going to the iPhone is a huge step down. The controls aren't very responsive, I have a hard time placing the ball exactly where I want it to go without spending far too much time lining up the shot, and most importantly they removed the gem collection mechanic that they added to the DS version. Sadly, of all the versions of Peggle I've played, I have to say the iPhone version is by far the least polished. I even had more fun on the iPod nano/Video version. DS Version>>>>>PC version=Xbox 360 version>iPod Version>>iPhone version.
5/15/2009 6:24:14 PM
so is there a way to open texts with pics in them without having to enter that damn password and shit?
5/15/2009 6:55:28 PM
not till OS 3.0 is released
5/15/2009 7:04:40 PM
^^it'll be in 3.0.there was an app available for jailbroken phones for a while but I think at&t stopped letting you add MMS to your account though so it won't work.. google it though.
5/15/2009 7:13:35 PM
^^ and ^ I see... when is 3.0 coming out?
5/15/2009 10:33:53 PM
June or July probably

activision didnt make that tony hawk...it was a tech demo by lti gray matter..here is the info i found: "It turns out that the video is of a tech demo from Lti Gray Matter, a development studio that has contributed to Mercenaries 2 and Jade Empire for the PC. We received an email this afternoon from Daniel Chavez, president of Lti Gray Matter, about the video that explains what went into the creation of the demo and why they released the video. Here is the email we received: "It is completely real. We developed an engine and tools to push the bleeding edge of the iPhone's limits. That's why the graphics, sound & frame rate are so good in the demo. We used THPS2 strictly as a "test subject" and not at the request of Activision or anyone else. By the time we were thru, THPS2 was fully on the iPhone and performing even better than originally anticipated. We have let Activision know that THPS2 is ready for QA if they want it. My feeling is that unless there is clearly mass desire expressed for this game, sadly it may not make it to the Apple Apps Store. Truly a shame because it was one of the most successful games of the franchise and would only add to market awareness for the new Tony Hawk title that will be detailed tomorrow. There may be a feeling that this may cause confusion with the new title but I believe the Tony Hawk fans & gamers (both iPhone & console) would love to own both. Some of the glitchyness on the demo were strictly because of compressing/loading into the editing software. The cuts showing player X were only to better illustrate the accelerometer use and while he was actually playing, this was shot separate from the over-the-shoulder angle. That's why on those scenes the headphone wire was not plugged in and the close-ups of the screen did have the wire connected. It was plugged directly into the camera so the sound heard was exactly what you would hear with headphones. The need for player X to keep his head cocked sideways and minimize movement in order to get the best video display is the reason for the less-than-stellar runs and not because the game mechanics are too difficult. Also, the buttons on screen are there for the 1st time player (left on for the demo) and there is the ability to toggle them off and just touch the corresponding quadrants of the screen thereby giving a cleaner view.""[Edited on May 17, 2009 at 11:16 AM. A bit of a ramble of how ridiculous AT&T plan system/customer service is :After 2.5 years of paying up the ass for the iphone contract in US and purchasing 2 iphones (original and 3g), i ended up moving overseas for a temp assignment. Before I left, I was told that there is a suspension that would allow me to keep my contract for about 20 dollars a month (which is still more over a year's period than my cancellation fee of 140 dollars), and told me to call back when i want my account actually suspended. Now that im here, after 50 minutes of international calling to ATT customer service and talking to 3 reps and a manger, they tell me there is no way to suspend the contract for a period of the assignement for any non-military personnel. They offered to suspend the service, but said the user is still liable for the full cost of the monthly plan (about a 100 dollars for the basic one). So the service is suspended but the charges are not? They couldnt really explain what would be the advantages to that combination. And of course they do not unlock iphones, so unless i can find an official Apple store over her (doubtful), im stuck with a locked iPhone. So my plan is to transfer my number to my old folks' family plan at $10/months so I can keep the actual phone number (all my bank accounts etc are tied to it), and get out of this bullshit contract with a 140$ fee to never come back to AT&T again.I suppose jailbreak unlocks my phone for use with local sim cards? any other concerns i should have, other than it breaking my warranty, which is almost out anyways? any other suggestions?yay for the guilt-free jailbreak i guess [Edited on May 21, 2009 at 12:15 PM. 5/21/2009 12:14:48 PM
yeh that blows. jailbreak it and yellowsnow(unlock) it. http://www.modmyi.com is a good site to read up.What verson OS are you running? some of the newer ones can't be unlocked as far as i know so hopefully that'll work out...
5/21/2009 12:34:16 PM
Thanks for the info. Running 2.2.5 (5h11) now. hopefully it's old enough, i havent updated in a while. Will read up on this unlocking deal once my 'puter gets here.
5/21/2009 12:45:17 PM
i think thats old enough to unlock.
5/21/2009 12:52:22 PM
^^And when you get back to the states with your unlocked iPhone, head over to tmobile for service. They specifically support unlocked iPhones on their network, and will provide support (unofficially).
5/21/2009 3:06:09 PM
anyone having troubles with not receiving calls or texts on a regular basis? the past few days i've been having major issues with not receiving texts and/or calls and it's getting rather frustrating.i've tried updating the phone, but it says its completely up to date.
5/22/2009 1:18:02 PM
Not I.Only thing I have noticed is that sometime the ringer doesnt actually sound... I will have it turned all the way up, will be staring at the phone, see it ringing, and not hear a thing.Thats about the only big issue I have with the phone so far, the volume needs to go higher (to 11 dammit!). The speakerphone is basically worthless if you arent in a silent room.
5/22/2009 1:32:41 PM
I've had issues with my GPS not working worth a fuck lately. Anybody else that's using the Beta noticed this? I rarely get anything beyond tower triangulation to work and if GPS does work it figures out my location once then quits working again and I never move even though I'm driving or walking or whatever
5/22/2009 2:19:01 PM
5/22/2009 2:56:09 PM
yay, push notifications
5/22/2009 3:03:13 PM
yay for no service and a almost dead battery.
5/22/2009 3:46:31 PM
^^^ the ring is just random... when it does ring (90%) of the time, its plenty loud. Just noticed a few times where it didnt ring at all...the volume issue is more with the actual conversation volume level
5/22/2009 10:17:34 PM
^ mine does that and I'm still running the old firmware
5/22/2009 10:27:02 PM
http://www.informationweek.com/news/mobility/3G/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=217700441&subSection=InfrastructureDon't know if this is old news or not, but I'm wondering if it's worth getting excited about. I think AT&Ts 3G sucks here in Raleigh...so I'm not confident that I'd notice that much of a difference for normal day to day internet usage. What do you guys think?
5/27/2009 4:48:52 PM
what's going on here:1) iphone was pretty much fully charged (i charged it last night)2) i didn't use the phone but for about 10 minutes today, so it had a full charge this evening3) i go to make a call, and it said the battery was completely empty. it wouldn't even turn on.4) i plug it in, it still has the flashing "no battery, plug me in" screen and won't let me go into the home screen5) a couple of minutes later it beeps and says it's fully charged (the battery shows a plug and no lightning bolt)6) a few minutes later it says the battery is at 1/2 capacity and is charging.WTF
5/27/2009 10:05:34 PM
My Touch has done the same thing several times. I really think there's something fishy with their battery polling (or whatever the hell you call it).
5/27/2009 11:35:04 PM
5/28/2009 1:20:10 PM
5/28/2009 2:17:22 PM
^^ they'll debut it on June 8 at the start of the WWDC. Probably won't be for sale until July
5/28/2009 2:22:22 PM
5/28/2009 4:25:59 PM
like the table PC?anyone think the new iphone is actually going to have mobile video chat?
5/28/2009 4:32:08 PM
tough to say, but maybe not (or not at first) because of the bandwidth real time two way video streaming would take up and because of how few people (according to an article I read today) would actually use it a lot.
5/28/2009 4:42:33 PM
i was thinking that 3G is probably not fast enough for it.perhaps they would do some sort of "only if you are on wi-fi" thing with it
5/28/2009 4:44:41 PM
I was more surprised with the conclusion that it's something hardly anyone would use. Then I thought about it; I've been able to do the same thing on a PC for god knows how long, and I have never, not once, participated in a video chat or wanted to participate in a video chat, so *shrug*. It'd be neat to know I could, but I probably wouldn't use it or complain if I couldn't.
5/28/2009 4:55:21 PM
^I feel the same way but on a phone I'd be more inclined to use it. Not all the time but on special occasions.
5/28/2009 5:50:59 PM
5/28/2009 6:07:54 PM
So what phone do you have that lets you do video conferencing for more than 3 hours without charging up, Stein?
5/28/2009 6:10:16 PM
Dude, it was a joke.Calm down.
5/28/2009 8:37:05 PM
Well to be fair, most PC set ups suck at video conferencing, and quality has not quite been acceptable.I've done a fair bit of it through iChat/broadband when I was in Europe w/my girlfriend in the U.S. though, worked pretty well I have to say. I probably would not have done it on the phone though, as I'm guessing it'd be cost prohibitive over a data connection when roaming. Just using maps (on a Sony Eric) occasionally three years ago in Sweeden the bill was over $300 for the month. I'd use video over wifi though.
5/28/2009 11:23:03 PM
set em up
