as much as i have loved TG on all other consoles, I'm boycotting it till they put a real time swing on the wii version (at least as an option)

well you basically have one motion to start the swing, and then another motion to end it... just like on a normal controller, you go up then down.in wii sports golf, you had control over how far back your swing went by how far your arm moved, not based on a timer from the time you first initialize your swing
6/4/2007 12:35:25 PM
^ eww for the bad news.... so its the same game and they really never did away with the whole your power = how far back you swing and start the swing motion at the very peak of your swing then, huh? I still gotta try it for myself though I suppose....[Edited on June 4, 2007 at 12:40 PM. Reason : ][Edited on June 4, 2007 at 12:40 PM. Reason : damn auto links]

I sure hope some games come out soon. I'm getting bored.on an unrelated note: my roommate just bought a PS3 - what a waste of $700. wii ftw
6/4/2007 12:43:58 PM
know when they're gonna come out with any online games?
6/4/2007 12:53:29 PM
Rented the Pirates of the Carribean game last night because the girlfriend thought swinging the wiimote as a sword looked pretty cool, but the controls were just as bad as the reviews said they were. It didn't seem to matter if you swung it up/down, side2side, or just thrust it forward, you can't seem to get it to do what you want it to, when you want it to. Obviously, short deliberate wrist movements worked a lot better than actually pretending you had a sword in your hand, but nothing seemed to register very well. This begs the question, are these limitations just a result of a crappy, rushed game, or are they built in to the Wii? Is it capable of any kind of 1:1 movement ratio with the wii mote, or are we going to have to wait for the next generation of the Wii?

So you're saying that I can't chip/putt like on PS? I don't know about the rest of you TWoods players, but I loved the 10-15% chip at the hole and run shot. It was soooo $$. Is it impossible or just really hard to get less than 50% on a shot on the Wii TWoods?

strikers will be the first US game to go online. I think it's due out at the end of July. I hear that the PAL version works on modded Wii's and you can play online too.

Picked up Mario Party 8 over the last week and i have to say its fun enough to play by yourself. But with 1 more person, its a blast. Super Paper Mario is waaay better IMO.Today downloaded Toe Jam & Earl Panic on Funkitron for my girlfriend, and Streets of Rage 2.Also Zelda II is out. Anyone biting? I looooathed that game...when I was 8.
6/4/2007 2:56:16 PM
like wii sports baseball?
6/4/2007 2:57:51 PM
^hopefully better than that.... and the players have legs and arent all too happy....
6/4/2007 2:58:47 PM
i was more talking about how you swing the bat.
6/4/2007 2:59:36 PM
^3 apparently better. in Wii baseball all you have to do is swing. If you time it right you'll make contact. And perfect, a dinger.in NP this month they went into saying how in The Bigs how hard (i assume the quickness of your timing on the ball) and the angle you swing at (like low & away or up in the letters) will play into how your player actually swings.whether its totally true, or do-able, we'll have to wait for reviews. but it sounded promising for a realistic swinging motion game.[Edited on June 4, 2007 at 3:01 PM. My reactoin to finally playing TWoods Wii:Its the same damn game as PS, Xbox, etc......only they dont tell you how bad of a lie you have in the rough and sand. However using the Wiimote on the backswing is more fun than an analog stick.... They surely have got to be working on implementing the 1:1 swing from Wii sports golf into '08.... theyve just gotta...If not, then maybe someone else will?? I would forget about the TWoods series in a second if that were the case.[Edited on June 6, 2007 at 3:40 PM. Reason : sp]

After playing TW 07' on the Wii this week I have to say the swing system is garbage. Having played lots of golf IRL I can safely say that using a proper swing has nothing to do with where the ball goes. Also, there is much more watching the swing on the screen than actually having a feel for timing. I would sit there and swing it the same way 5 times and get 5 different results. PS having to keep the controller square at the exact moment of impact that your onscreen counterpart has is highly annoying.

if you have to use two hands it looks like it might be awkward but if you could use it with one hand that could be as good as the original zapper

Scarface received an 8.5 from IGN. Might be worth checking out for those who liked Godfather.
6/9/2007 11:32:58 AM
^^^ thats pretty awesome. It is going to be interesting to see what design concepts they can come up with to uitilize the wiimote shape in the future.
6/9/2007 11:35:59 AM
Nice to see the SMW2: Yoshi's Island stage in the new game instead of the much, much lamer Yoshi's Story stages of past Smash Bros.

If any of you have recently checked the smash website, they put some music up from the apparent boss fight with Ridley. I'm really hoping that this means Ridley will be a playable character.

Probably gonna grab manhunt, any one else thinking of getting Resident Evil 4 next week? Reading some of the previews gamestop was saying they think that the Wii controls are the best of the 3 game versions, it is only 30 bucks
6/15/2007 10:53:19 AM
will wait to see reviews first
6/15/2007 11:02:05 AM
can you change buttons on the classic controller to mimic mario allstars SMB1 control scheme?

That Ridley track kicks ass. It'd be hilarious if the new Mario stage changed from a level in the game to a racetrack to a tennis court to a basketball court etc.
