cyanogen suckskangerade was much faster
9/26/2010 8:23:32 PM
on what phone?
9/26/2010 8:52:33 PM
I ran Cyanogen and Kangerade on the Droid and while CM wasn't as fast, I wouldn't say it sucked. It also had a lot more little bells and whistles than Kangerade. And for whoever was looking for Swype on the droid, http://www.droid-life.com/2010/09/27/download-swype-beta-2-4-44-10912-for-motorola-droid/And damn, ordered the Realook screen protectors Friday afternoon and it's out for deliver now. Yay for free super fast shipping. ]
9/27/2010 10:55:05 AM
Yeah, read the instructions like I didn't. They're opposite the VZW protectors where you remove side 1, stick it down and then remove 2. These you remove side 1, then remove side 2 an stick down side 2.I ruined one of my two that way.Damn it.
9/27/2010 11:22:25 AM
Kangerade is the old 2.2 based on FRF57 (old)JRummy's newest ROM is LithiumMod which is 2.2 based on FRG01B (latest Droid source)I've been running LithiumMod Blue for the last 2 months and it's fantastic.

MIUI rom from China. Apparently Cyanogen is also working with them to get it portedEvo Link- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=791378
9/27/2010 2:15:21 PM
Got the Realook SP installed and it's barely noticeable especially compared to the anti-glare ones from verizon. Does show dust and lint more though. MIUI rom on the Droid 1http://www.droid-life.com/2010/09/27/video-miui-rom-for-original-droid/

i decided to try out the new Bugless Beast and it has made me very happy switching from Cyanogen use the last 2 weeks

HTC Merge coming to Verizon. Looks like it has GSM support alsohttp://www.boygeniusreport.com/nggallery/page-320/album-1/gallery-59/
9/27/2010 5:24:30 PM
OH THAT IS SEXYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
9/27/2010 6:18:07 PM
I briefly considered returning the Fascinate but the specs are rather unimpressive: 800MHz processor and 3.8" screen (480x800). It will come with Froyo and probably the new Sense but meh.
9/27/2010 6:54:50 PM
oh gross....you ruined my phonegasm
9/27/2010 7:02:27 PM
huh, and apparently comes with Bing app pre-installed?
9/27/2010 7:07:52 PM
yeah. It had bing as default like the Fascinate.
9/27/2010 7:17:26 PM
i just watched a youtube video of a guy running that droot.bat (or whatever) file and it looked like he had to change to Charge Only mode or something, but still it took a few tries before it would worki just quit after it gave that reset the adb message, so i guess if i had waited longer it might have gone through[/regarding rooting DX w/ ota 2.2]
9/27/2010 8:32:04 PM
That HTC Merge looks pretty awesome, especially the keyboardToo bad its a dumbed-down N1
9/27/2010 8:36:01 PM
I picked up a Samsung Fascinate for myself this weekend. Since it was BOGO, I got an Android X for the wife. Two android phones for $150 + tax. This is my first smartphone and I must say, I'm addicted and I love it to death... Battery life is pretty good, considering everything I do. Real Time GPS function is incredible, but it does a number to the battery... Apps are very plentiful and I'm waiting for 2.2 to leak for my phone...[Edited on September 27, 2010 at 8:47 PM. welcome to the dark side. Fingers crossed that the Froyo goodness comes soon. Probably won't "officially" be available until November or later but I'm sure the rom developers will get something going much sooner.
9/27/2010 9:59:19 PM
how do you root the Droid 1 with the 2.2 update? i tried DMupdater, it doesn’t seem to work.OR…Is there a non-root way to get wifi tethering working on this phone?
9/27/2010 11:39:40 PM
If you're on FRG22D, you have to use rsdlite and flash another recovery. Try googling "root regardless of android version." Believe the thread is on droidforums.com.
9/28/2010 7:15:21 AM
I saw that, but it seems to require me installing the dev tools, and running Windows. I have the dev tools installed actually, i’m just not running Windows. It’s weird that iOS is easier to jailbreak than Android...
9/28/2010 8:54:33 AM
I don't know why I'm not getting emails anymore. I'm getting none to my phone.
9/28/2010 9:37:46 AM
ever since i upgraded to 2.2 last week my droid x has seemed much more laggy and unresponsive than with 2.1, which had also started to operate less fluidly than it did for the first few weeks that i owned it. i rooted it the other night and still haven't had much time to do a whole lot other than download a few apps and do some stuff with setCPU, so i don't know if this is typical and that running a custom rom will help, but the lag and general unresponsiveness of this thing has been pissing me off for a while now. any suggestions?

the mini update to the fascinate has stopped showing up on innopath. there are currently no updates available.doesn't make sense.
9/28/2010 11:01:06 AM
I'm fairly certain that I'm going to order an Incredible tonight. Any reasons why I shouldn't?

anyone else see the Verizon product placement on The Glades?i was laughing so hardthe detective had a Droid. His girlfriend had what looked like an Eris or some other Android phone.the kicker: a victim mailed a Droid with a sound recording to a tabloid journalist. they couldn't find the phone at the crime scene so the detective was like, look at the victim's cell phone bill - find out what kind of phone she has. the kid on the computer pulled it up and it said "Droid - 4G SIM" so he goes "sir she has one of those Android smartphones" and the detective, who is NOT TECH SAVVY at all responds back with "oh those are the kind you can track even when they're off right?" (that part kind of freaked me out...) and the kid on the computer goes "normally not, but this one has a 4 GIG SIM card (yes he said 4 GIG which made me roll over because 1) verizon doesn't have 4G and 2) we all know you can't have a 4 GB SIM) so we can track it"hilarious...
9/28/2010 4:16:26 PM
^^1. I like the size. Droid X is too big for my tastes.2. Will the larger battery help for that?
9/28/2010 4:27:32 PM
welp. Got bored again so I de-bing'd my phone. Search button now uses google for text and voice searches.

so ptty, how do you like the screen protector on your fascinate? i have the shitty verizon ones, and it damn near impossible to read the screen in the sunlight. really foggy looking.do the new ones actually look good out in the sun?
9/28/2010 11:34:23 PM

Does anyone have any experience with Verizon's Certified Pre-owned phones? I'd like to know if it's a fine idea to get a CPO Incredible, or if it's worth it to shell out the extra $50 for a new one.
9/29/2010 12:09:09 AM
well, actually verizon does have 4G... it just hasn't fully rolled out yet (apparently vzw has allowed one of its small subsidiaries or something to test it out in vegas I believe)
9/29/2010 9:19:44 AM
VZW won't have 4g on cell phones until this time next year. They are gonna roll it out on their PC cards first.
9/29/2010 9:31:56 AM
9/29/2010 9:37:06 AM
yeah, they're supposed to go live in 30 of the NFL markets before the end of the year but I'm pretty sure the LTE phones won't have a "4 GIG sim card". lol And none of the droids currently offered have LTE radios nor sim card support for an LTE sim card.
9/29/2010 9:43:03 AM
Ha, my roommate got a DX today. I was checking it out and noticed they changed that sticker underneath the battery. Instead of saying PULL it says Battery Release. That would have been really useful for me when I first got mine.
9/29/2010 5:40:43 PM
haha yeah. http://www.androidcentral.com/motorola-clears-droid-x-battery-tab-confusion-design-changeDid get to play around with the Fascinate outside for a while today while waiting to get tickets and it's definitely a lot easier to see than the anti-glare screen protectors from Verizon granted it wasn't very sunny today.
9/29/2010 5:54:06 PM
hahaha. about time with the Droid X battery tab!

i am disappointed none of you guys told me to fuck dolphin browser and go with skyfirehttp://www.pcworld.com/article/206278/battle_of_the_android_browsers.html
9/30/2010 3:09:39 AM
^ Thank you! I'll be switching to Skyfire right now... I could only find a Skyfire Browser beta version 2.3.3 for my Fascinate... [Edited on September 30, 2010 at 3:21 AM. Reason : .]
9/30/2010 3:13:41 AM
yep, that's what i'm using now too
9/30/2010 4:03:14 AM
meh, Dolphin just feels smoother and more polished. I only occasionally use skyfire if there's a video I want to watch
9/30/2010 8:18:16 AM
fuck polished. you're better off even using stock or opera if you don't like skyfire...
