NCAA appeals process:DB: "Hey, NCAA... Don't you think that was a little over the top? Please bring the suspensions down a little... please?"NCAA: "...No."

9/22/2010 4:22:28 PM
Yeah, no way those costs are right if they're incorporating flights + entertainment + lodging.
9/22/2010 4:23:43 PM
^^^Yeah, I think you're right. They set a precedent by denying AJ Green's appeal, and all he did was sell a jersey. That being said, this is UNC, so I'm assuming that since they're all queers, that the NCAA may yield so they're not accused of perpetrating a hate crime.

9/22/2010 5:30:06 PM
Game before last I think.
9/22/2010 5:41:08 PM
these two guys were the two a lot of people were going to get off light, right?lmao good luck unc
9/22/2010 5:48:33 PM
You can get round trip tickets to Atlanta for pretty cheap...like less than $100 cheapVegas and Cali on the other hand are gonna be a lot more expensive...like $300-$400 MINIMUM for eachand of course, that doesnt include champagne, hookers, etc
9/22/2010 5:55:34 PM
^ Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking. Tickets, hotel (you know they weren't staying at Motel 6), and partying like rappers... I bet these guys went through $5K+ easily.
9/22/2010 6:02:11 PM
do the games that UNC has been holding them out of count as a part of the 4 and 6 games?
9/22/2010 6:02:23 PM
btw the prices i listed assume coach classbusiness would be more, 1st class would be a shitload more...if they flew 1st class on all 3 round trips that could be $10,000+ alone, just for airfare[Edited on September 22, 2010 at 6:09 PM. Reason : ^Yes]

9/22/2010 6:05:18 PM
the agents probably didn't introduce them with that terminology, but you better believe that was part of the compensation
9/22/2010 6:13:46 PM
I don't understand how the NCAA determines how much the players should pay back. From the article on IC: Burney, who received $1,333 in benefits, must miss six games and make repayment of $575.19 to a charity of his choice. Williams, who received $1,426 in benefits, must miss four games and make repayment of $450.67 to a charity of his choice. Both student-athletes already have sat out two games. First, they aren't paying back the full amount of money...but I assume that's a rule/precedent. But why does Burney have to pay more than Williams...Williams actually received about $100 more.ETA: didn't even notice that Burney, who still received less, has a harsher suspension than Williams (6 games vs 4). I'm thinking there's got to be more to this...otherwise their suspensions would be the same seeing as how the amount of money was pretty much the same.[Edited on September 22, 2010 at 6:29 PM. i went to cali for a week last april, and it wasn't first class. there is no way on this planet those trips were that cheap unless they got deals on the airfare and they only got off the plane to get on the next one back to nc.i'm smelling the b.s. i fully expected when all this crap started.[Edited on September 22, 2010 at 6:30 PM. ^^I noticed that too. Maybe it something about the actual items/services they received? [Edited on September 22, 2010 at 6:31 PM. Reason : I wonder how the NCAA estimates the cost of hookers...]
9/22/2010 6:31:08 PM
^^^they had already paid back some of the money according to mark armstronghttp://twitter.com/ArmstrongWTVD
9/22/2010 6:31:49 PM
^Ok, that makes sense. Still makes me wonder about the 6 games vs 4 games...just seems odd.
9/22/2010 6:37:30 PM
The question I have is if they are going to check to see where the repayment money comes from.

A big deal with the NCAA is being truthful. How do we know Burney was truthful from the get go? It appears Deontaay Williams was, so he only got 4 games. Burney was also hanging out and taking money from an agent/coke dealer, Chris Hawkins, I'm not sure, but I heard it looks bad to be hanging out with coke dealers. Williams was taking money from a former player, not quite as severe to the NCAA.Dareus took money from Martha Austin, a friend, and was truthful from the beginning, so 2 games only. AJ green took a grand from said coke dealer and was truthful, so 4 games only. There are numerous rumors floating around that a couple UNC players have not been truthful to the NCAA. This is a no no.....if you want to play college ball, just ask Dez Bryant. And oh yea, none of these findings today have to do witht he tutor or the academic stuff. This is a grain of sand on a beach.[Edited on September 22, 2010 at 9:40 PM. Reason : .]

9/23/2010 12:39:26 AM
^the NCAA a few weeks ago said they would, it can probably be found somewhere but i'm too lazy to do that.

Sucks that those fuck-offs are going to be back for the State game. I was hoping the investigation would drag out long enough for the season to be over and all of those guys signing with agents to get ready for the NFL Draft (assuming labor issues are worked out). If Burney or Williams are involved with the academic scandal as well, don't they need to continue to sit or UNC would risk forfeiting the games they play in? This two pronged investigation needs to have some overlap in terms of the player rulings.

^ i'm starting to come to this too. I'm getting a little tired of the whole mess and would prefer to play them again. I'm sure from our own players stand point, they'd rather play and beat a team with all its "stars" than have even a little mental asterik by the game. This was also the team that got their shit packed in by GT last year.
