Yeah I think they were hinting pretty heavily that her and her daughter (or at least the daughter) were going to be sacrificed or something.
6/16/2014 11:30:31 AM
Dany's finale portion was meh at best.
6/16/2014 10:23:01 PM
Dany's storyline is terrible, so much build up for her to just sit in a city.

It looks like it will work out for him yes, I'm just pointing out I might have tried a different approach to making friends
6/17/2014 9:08:57 AM
They're wildlings though. They don't want to make friends. Probably figures force is the way to make them do what he wants.
6/17/2014 10:36:23 AM
was there any indication where Tyrion and Varys are headed? I can only assume they may be headed towards Dany (Varys seemed to be dialed in to the activities in her neck of the woods). Since Tyrion is essentially a pariah now that seems to be his only option.
6/17/2014 10:40:49 AM
what about Bravos? could they be going there?
6/17/2014 10:42:17 AM
I'd put my money on Bravos, if they actually make it there. Bravos seems like the place to go when you've been excommunicated or a fugitive from the mainland (Seven Kingdoms?)So Arya is headed to the Wall but what happens when they get there? With the way they build up Jon Snow he's gotta leave the black one way or another to lead the North. Maybe the whole wall gets taken out or something, relieving him of his vows. 6/17/2014 11:59:02 AM
i thought once the captain said she couldn't come and they were headed to Bravos not North, she said she would go to bravos and then showed the guy the coin so he would take her.
6/17/2014 12:22:14 PM
yeah she's going to bravos
6/17/2014 12:26:03 PM
oh I was under the impression that once he saw the coin he was indebted to her due to her saving the badass shapeshifter dude and they were not only going to take her North, but also give her a cabin.
6/17/2014 2:40:18 PM
he's taking her on but going to bravos
6/17/2014 2:41:10 PM
The coin is the business card of the faceless men and valar morghulis is kinda like a pass code. Anyone from braavos knows this and it's basically a pass back to town
6/17/2014 3:02:34 PM
I swear some people in this thread only barely watch the show
6/17/2014 6:17:52 PM
^it's understandable for someone to not remember the exact details of a 2 minute scene that aired in 2012, if you're referring to the coin business.[Edited on June 17, 2014 at 9:25 PM. Reason : .]
6/17/2014 9:24:06 PM
I mean, I guess. I think that is prettyeasy to remmember especially since it was a super memorable scene. But I was more referring to the destination that was stated pretty plainly this ep. Anyway minor book question, can I storm of swords now or have they still not covered all of that? PM if that is too booky for this thread.
6/17/2014 10:32:58 PM
watching the finale now...again.I'm halfway through and honestly enjoy it even more this time around. Not waiting for the next ball to drop and am focused more on the moment.Observations from a non-book reader:- The guy who is playing Mance is awesome. Really good actor.- The formations from Stannis' army with the wall as a back drop...obviously CGI'd, but a very cool looking scene nonetheless.- Given that we didn't see what happened to the Mountain or the Hound, there has to be a fucking battle coming with those two sometime next season or beyond- I wish Tyrion could have had some interaction with Shae before killing her. That dialog would have been gold.- Arya looks more and more like a dude.
6/17/2014 10:42:43 PM
^^ i don't really recall. but they're all over the map on the books. some stuff is from near the end of book 5 that they've already covered.

6/18/2014 1:55:47 AM
i thought the coin thing was fairly obvious if you watched the recap stuff right before the opening credits
6/18/2014 6:47:55 AM
Arya might still think she's going to The Wall, but the ship is heading to Bravos.Wasn't the line he said about the coin something like 'If ever you need me again, show this to any Bravosi and speak the words ... and they shall bring you to me'Wouldn't be surprised if there was a short scene later on when she wakes up from a long nap and is all like 'where are we going, we're sailing east, not north' I will say though that this:
6/18/2014 8:18:43 AM
In their defense, Mance mentions the fire midway through in season 2.Given how we have not even a 24 hour news cycle these days, it is a lot to expect of someone to remember something from 2 years ago.Can people even commit phone numbers to memory these days?

this article on makinggameofthrones.com states she's going to braavos, if anyone was still wondering. http://www.makinggameofthrones.com/production-diary/2014/6/15/maisie-williams-reveals-aryas-red-flags

I wonder where her wolf is. I mean I know she's running around the Riverlands somewhere but hopefully they reunite. Also, we haven't seen shit about Rickon / Osha / Shaggydog in a while.

^This guy has read the books but i'm pretty militant about spoilers and he does good job avoiding them and answers that question near the end:http://grantland.com/hollywood-prospectus/ask-the-maester-game-of-thrones-season-4-finale/

also, for anyone who is still planning to pick up the books, I highly recommend reading the novellas Martin has written set about 100 years before this story. They are fun, quick reads and there is some insight into the guy Bran met in the tree roots.

^Thanks for the tip.
6/19/2014 9:32:13 AM
Also, if anyone wants to not read beyond the show, you should stop reading just before the epilogue of A Storm of Swords.

^nice, thanks!

^^^I couldn't even find obvious references to Dunk and Egg on GRRM's website.Do you know if they are only available on paperback?EDIT - it appears they are available in a set of anthologies.[Edited on June 20, 2014 at 7:30 AM. Reason : ads]

Yes they are within anthologies. I have the paperback versions of the anthologies that I got for fairly cheap on Amazon. You may be able to get Kindle versions as well. Two of them are also available in graphic novel format.

^^Now, if you haven't even started A Storm of Swords, you will encounter at least one thing that hasn't happened on the show in the very middle: I don't consider it a major spoiler, it's just something they are saving for next season for storyline consolidation reasons. But do not read the epilogue.[Edited on June 20, 2014 at 10:45 AM. I think there was a throwaway line at some point that he was rotting in a cell at the twins. Not sure though.

Finally watched the last episode.1.) Why would Varys risk his position and power to rescue Tyrion?2.) I know about the earlier letter but how did Stannis know where to attack the wildlings?3.) Did Arya think Brianne was a Lannister agent? Seems more risky hopping on a random boat then catching up to Brianne after the hound got his ass kicked.

I rewatched a few episodes with my cousin last night, who hasn't seen season 4 all the way through. In the fifth (I think) episode when they are at Craster's Keep and the worg kid tells Bran that he has to keep going, even if he is killed and starts seeing the red tree behind Bran in a vision. The kid says that "this is not the end" and Bran asks how would he know where it ends and it shows the worg kid turning a fireball around in his hand and he doesn't really give a clear answer. I think it was really clever foreshadowing of the girl that throws the fireballs to save Bran and the girl when they get attacked by the tree. I think he saw then how, or at least where he was going to die and what was going to save Bran.I just never noticed that the first time around.

set up the set 'em upMy wife and I just finished watching season 3.I've read the books already and wanted to gauge her reaction to the red wedding. She was a little high (percocet from jaw surgery) so the response was minimal.
